I think the sticks and stones thing became irrelevant when people started doxxing other's personal information and ruining their lives, over a video game. Much less the amount of sexual harassment that women deal with on a daily basis by men. It's not one sided, men can be harassed by women as well, but the amount of women being victims to this type of thing is insanely large. It shouldn't be one way or the other, it should be fair to both genders to play and enjoy video games despite who they are in real life or a game world.

there is no line. it's just words. in todays society people want all eyes on them (tupac reference). the easiest way to do that is play the victim. today everyone is a victim of something. it is really sad and sickening.

  • I do agree that many people do play the victim, when they shouldn't, but are you trying to say that there is no victim ever?

no and i probably should have worded my sentence better to clairfy. sorry about that. you will never 100% eradicate any problem known to man. you can only help to minimize it. sometimes people do intentionaly say things to cause another person harm. the problem is now anything anyone says there is someone saying those words caused them harm. common sense is needed however i am not sure if that is even the right word since it appears that us americans like to re-define words (again to make them feel better). for example the NFL mascot that held up a sign during the game "towels carry ebola". that was funny. it was a joke. the other team has a thing for waving towels so the mascot was making a joke out of it using current events. and truth be told it could have even been a public service announcement since towels can carry ebola. but now you have all these people deeply offended by that sign. really? how are they offended? what harm was done? again just people trying to play the victim role.

  • With that example I would agree, but getting harassed by people, I agree that you should take it with a grain of salt, but honestly some people can't. So is it his or hers fault, or the harassers?

harassment is a whole differnt topic. i have 4 rules i live by and only 4 and life seems pretty sweet when i do. 1)never wake up in the single digits of time 2) never play cards with a guy in a tunic 3) never trust a big booty and a smile 4) be pro-active and remove myself from any situation where i feel i might be harmed.

  • How is that different, gamers getting harassed online, which is why bungie did not add communication chat

  • you can block people. be pro-active. or have fun with it and give back what they give to you. either way it's not a big life changing event. is it a problem? yes? does congress need to get together to solve it? no.

  • But this is pro active, by trying to spread awareness and avoid people from harnessing people

  • spreading awareness does nothing. the only people who become aware are like minded individuals. you will get some band wagon people on board but in the end they don't really care. like all these people wearing pink to spreak awarness for breast cancer. i'm sorry but how does that solve the problem? how about instead of wearing something pink you just donate some money to the cause. i would think that would be more effective. i understand that when you buy certain things a portion of the money goes to the cause but most people that are wearing the pink are not purchasing the item that gives proceeds to the cause.

  • Then why not try challenging those people, why should people sit by and be harassed?

they don't have to sit by. in science there is a thought that often the simplest solution is the most correct. they can block them or remove themselves from the situation. like i said earlier you will never eradicate the problem especially if all you are doing is spreading awareness.

  • Yes you will never eradicate 100%, but it seems like you are okay with people harassing others. And make the victim at fault

  • i'm sorry if that is what it seems but i promise you that is not the case as i have never said what you claim. i don't have the words to properly express to you and for that i'm sorry. it seems to me that you agree that we can never 100% eradicate the problem but your only solution is to create awarness in the attempt to get ride of it 100%. to me that make no sense what so ever.

  • Awareness is not going to fix anything by itself. To really prevent harassment, we need to better education and better in home situations. But that is a daunting task. But I believe people should not take harassment face down. You did not say those words exactly but you said to just leave the situations, which gives the harasser a free pass and enabling them

  • in the end it just seems like your argument and solution is "feelings" based. which goes back to my original thought. i don't care about what words are said (your or mine)....i care about the actions. actions are what matters most in every scenerio.' "sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me" you will never stop somone from saying something that makes you become a victim but you can do an action to minimize it or make it go away all together if you want it to stop. you have to decide at some point what is more important. stopping the harassment or punishing the people doing the harassment because you will find often in life that you can not do both no matter how hard we all try. that is the reality of the world we live in.
