The issue here is clarity. Bungie has a huge problem with how they word everything. I didn't expect iron banner to be a landslide advantage to the higher/better geared player. They said level makes a difference. A level 30 will own in iron banner. Stats carry over, and they do.
They made it sound like it would be noticeable, and it felt/sounded like they would use the enemy's math from PvE, specifically If you are a lower level you get roughly -20% damage per level.
They couldn't do that. Really it would be only level 29-30's in IB, and it would die off in a day. Instead they use the the other PvE math, specifically if your a higher level then the enemy you get your weapon stats, but don't seem to gain a noticeable damage boost or survivability. (I can feel the difference a little, but it's not how iron banner was described. It's not a huge level/gear matters, it's almost how pvp should of always been)
I can understand all the anger. They made a huge hype, and made it sound huge. I don't know who's in charge of what info they give us, but they are an idiot. I don't really care at this point, I've accepted this games flaws, and still enjoy it.
We would play the game regardless of iron banner, or the extra/cut content/the Screwy PvE level/damage math. I just want the information they give us to be clear, and not feel like they sold us something other then what is given.

The way they talked about it in Beta and prior to the event, I figured Iron Banner would be for the level 28-30 crowd who had full exotics/legendary and give them a place where the elite pvp'ers could face off. The lower levels and people like me who suck at PVP can stay in the crucible. So basically to me they promised an event that would offer tougher elite PVP where level and weapon stats would matter for those who have worked hard getting all their awesome gear to make a difference, and in the end its all BS.

Yeah it's very sad. All this new "content" is for the stragglers to catch up. It wasn't meant for the people who are at/done with the endgame content already.

Whoever writes the stuff they keep saying in public should return to reality. Because what they keep announcing is quite often miles away from what they deliver. This is no judgement about the quality of what they deliver, people just expect something else.

I agree with the clarity part completely. This goes as far as bounties as well. For example, there are bounties that say get 30 melee kills without dieing. Well, you can certainly die, and your kill count doesn't reset, so I guess they mean melee kill something and don't die at the same time? I mention this, because then there is an Iron Banner Bounty, "kill 10 Guardians without dieing" (I'm paraphrasing), but in this instance, if you die your kill count resets on the bounty, so I assume this is 10 in a row without dieing? I had both bounties and they were worded the same, but were totally different.

"it would only be level 29-30's" DUH! That's how it SHOULD of been. If you arent' a high lvl, then contineu to play the OTHER game modes. I agree with the OP 110%. I was beyond disappointed with this game mode. The only difference being it's more competitive and you'll find better players. I was expecting to only be playing high lvls, and expecting hte time to kill to be increased due to our "gear and weapons taking full effect!" Guess what, it is the exact same.

Right on.

Iron banner was more fun to me at least than crucible...I've accepted the game. But they may have screwed the pooch with its timing of release/lies/silence/ and all these vids of places. I get that yeah they're there. But who justifies DLC to move along a story....gameplay that should've been there from get go. Is this how we will get all of Destiny not much has been explained and questions on an ever evolving (which lets face it, it's not and dlc to me will prove no otherwise till we see actual evolving and immersive gameplay) galaxy. The back cover says
rich cinematic storytelling
What the first intro? Bc other than that are bland in game ones. Idk as I said they need to do something and learn how to word things...that can come back on them

I agree with you completely. What almost ruined the game for me was the overhype. If a company other than Bungie made destiny and there was no big promises on story, and other large exaggerations, I'd absolutely love the game. If we weren't lied to, I'd love to say we weren't but I can't even come up with something to say after that, because I personally feel lied to.
