I am actually insulted by bungie at the moment... This game promised so much... It looked so good... And then what? They cut it up and decide to release a small game with no story whatsoever and a MASSIVE lack of exploration areas... WHAT THE HELL DEEJ??!!?? Seriously!?! And the worst part? THE DLC'S ARE ALREADY FINISHED!!! THEY HAD ALREADY MADE THEM BUT SAVED THEM TO MAKE US PAY!!??!! No! Just no! And I can prove it... In the cosmodrome you can glitch your way in to a dlc area called bunker - Ras 2... Now Deej, explain that one! I am absolutely disgusted by bungie right now... I used to love you all, I trusted you like thousands of others... And now you do this... Let me tell you that if the dlc's come out and they are at the usual dlc prices then you can go and screw yourselves and your dlc! (YES ACTIVISION IM LOOKING AT YOU) I just don't get it... 4 exploration areas (large maps) and nothing new? I have seen the areas you guys cut off... The places your saving for dlc... You want to make a profit on this game and any future dlc or games you "make" (or already made but save because it might make some more money) then why don't you make a full game, that is the game of the decade? And then release dlc's for it that because the game itself is amazing everyone rushes and buys... And then when that games lifespan passes you make another and everyone rushes and gets that as well? Why not do that? Because now you have a crap half game and have atarnished reputation... You know soon there is going to be a massive SCREW YOU BUNGIE from every destiny player...

When my house was being built, I could walk around the slab and through the stud-framed walls. I did not accuse the builder of "You are lying to me! My house is done! I can walk inside of it. Quit screwing me over! I watched a home improvement show, and I know that they can build a house in a half an hour!" That is essentially the argument that is being presented, over and over again. And since enough people keep yelling it, louder and louder whenever the flaws in his/her logic is pointed out - or come up with some new hip conspiracy theory - everyone else's opinions on the matter boils down to "you are wrong", "you are just a fanboy/idiot/etc.", and so on.
-
Don't you think I'm allowed to be mad? We have what potentially was the best game of the decade, but now it's not even a full game... And then we manage to see the stuff they already made that should have been release content through a glitch! I'm not calling anyone a fanboy, im stating my opinion (albeit angrily) on a game that isn't acceptable after what was advertised, promised and shown...
-
Most definitely. If you feel that you have not received what you were entitled to, you should be. My point is that people feel that they are entitled to something that has not even been proven to exist, in terms of the DLC. Bungie says it is placeholder, and I believe them - because I do the same exact thing in my day to day development activities. It is considerably easier to ship assets if those assets are largely done - even if not functional. However, people were show video of what the developer build of Destiny had looked like - that is undisputed. But, you start changing the narrative, shifting the focus, and working on other aspects of the game - parts sit in a partially completed state. Sometimes that state is something that looks pretty close to finished - but it is rougher than you may think.
-
And besides, £60 for a game that feels half finished if that with a practically non - existent story and mediocre areas is a rip off... When halo 4 came out people started insulting 343 (myself not included) because they didn't like the game, however 343 reconciled with the master chief collection... £45 for four digitally remastered classics a beta and a live action series, now that is damn good value for money there. However on the flip side the almighty bungie create this... This half finished piece of what could have been a sheer masterpiece...
-
That's a good point, I personally (along with many others) are just angered by the fact that they promised so much, showed so much and delivered so little, and when I discovered the extra dlc areas that were on disc I got very very angry, if they made the area but don't plan on using it yet then why bother making it? I just feel like this is a huge slap in the face and an even bigger sucker punch to the wallet... If the first few dlc's are released and they cost anything close to the usual dlc prices then the player count will drop faster than anything else. I'm disappointed... Very disappointed

It is actually more common than you think. There are many games with locked off rooms with names that imply their purposes for testing, asset storage, etc. Skyrim is a common go-to example. There are entire rooms with names like "Smoke Test Cell", etc. And, they look pretty "finished", but were not intended for people to actually go to: http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/Editor_Smoke_Test_Cell The difference here is that Bungie appears to be staging content and assets for future releases, expansions, etc. If anything, they are fault for not having a better means to seal off the content until it is ready - because of how easy it is to get into, it is ripe for the "withholding content" arguments to gain a foothold. Only people that can speak to why the release was scaled back is Bungie and Activision. Given Bungie's reputation and apparent pride in what they do (and this is coming from a non-Xbox gamer), I tend to go with the logical argument that there were development-related issues that prevented the full release of what was shown in earlier releases. For all we know, they may have had to shut down entire areas of the cells that content was rendered on, in order to show the content that was shown. Perhaps the unreleased areas expose defects with their rendering engine or gameplay mechanics that they did not have fixed in time. I simply don't claim to know, and see no reason to look no further than the fact that I still do like this game - for exactly what I've gotten from it.
-
I like what I have seen of the game, don't get me wrong, that's the main reason ik so disappointed with the lack of things to see, because what I have seen was so promising... Alas I'm exhausted atm and you seem to know more than myself on the topic
-
Nope - I don't know anything about the situation. And without a job offer and an NDA, I will continue to be just in the dark as everyone else. :-) Get some rest, and thank you for the civil conversation. Both sides of the issue could use more people with your skills, Guardian. :-)

Edited by P2Mc28: 10/7/2014 10:41:50 PMDid you read the posts, or just skim through it?
And the worst part? THE DLC'S ARE ALREADY FINISHED!!!
According to the supposed informant, the "DLC" is not finished, which is why it isn't in the game playable in the first place. It was removed because it no longer fit within the existing game we have today. I picture it would be similar to a situation like this: Bungie Exec: "Alright, remove the Arbiter from Halo 2 - he no longer exists." Bungie Devs: "Uh, but what about all the missions where you interact with the Arbiter? The ones where you PLAY AS the Arbiter?" Bungie Exec: "Cut them, I suppose." Bungie Devs: "Ugh, OK. I guess we can reuse that content later, after we completely rewrite the dialogue, re-script it, and tool it to be played as Master Chief." Players: "WHAT THE HECK ALL THIS DLC IS ALREADY HERE GIVE IT TO ME NOW." That is how I understand the situation.
-
No, if what Deej said is true then this informant is not speaking truthfully, which leads me to believe that it would fit absolutely fine with the story but they just cut it for dlc, so either Deej is not telling the truth about this informant and in fact what he says is correct OR every bungie member and Activision member is not telling the truth and the game is finished to what it should be and it's just being released as dlc. The informant said that the games story was messily axed up at the last moment and a lot of things wouldn't fit with the new "story" but then Deej says he is a troll and is in fact making this up, in which case the games story fits fine with this other content but they decided to release is as dlc
-
DeeJ did not actually *say* the guy was lying. He didn't rebut any of the points (see my other comment) and in fact confirmed several of them in other places. I wouldn't mind paying for a sequel in DLC, but what we got was so boring and incoherent it was more like we paid for a 300-page book and inside was just the first chapter, and 250 blank pages.
-
Deej didn't say the informant was flat out wrong, he said he was a troll. In Bungie's "fun time we're gamers and cool guys" way of speaking. Quite frankly, Deej couldn't really have done anything else. It's one of those bad situations a company can get into when stuff goes wrong, either within or outside of their control. I personally don't fully believe either side. But I choose to err on the side of the informant. I'm a huge fan of Bungie. They've put together some epic storytelling. Watching Forward Unto Dawn scream out of the upper atmosphere and drop of 3 tanks for your pleasure with ... what, 3 different NPCs chiming in with their dialogue bits while you move around and do your thing? ("Tank beats EVERYTHING!") Halo 3 is just a fantastic game. And I'm sure that one day, Destiny will be at that level too. I just hope it gets there sooner than later.
-
I sure hope it does become as good as halo 3
-
you can also glitch your way into a "dlc locked" area called the dust palace. it has moving ships in the distance, and enemies to kill in a firefight esque mode. also let's not forget about kingswatch too
-
Dust Palace is locked, on purpose, and Bungie has not hidden anything in that regard. That is part of the time-locked exclusive content that is on the PS4. No DLC conspiracies needed around that bit of content. http://www.ign.com/articles/2014/09/04/discover-destinys-playstation-exclusive-dust-palace-mission
-
Well, the Dust Palace is completed content at least. I know that much. Cuz I'm on PS4 and I run that Strike 3 times in a row whenever I'm not stuck waging war with the Cabal, whether I wanted it or not.
-
This is my point, bungie, if you read this, please reply, because we deserve answers, and now that people know you released half a game with other parts already made is going to cause the biggest shit storm ever in the history of gaming... Sort it out and your fans will return... Otherwise... Your screwed. On a side note however when the game first released every problem my friends and I encountered, we blamed Activision for (as a joke) and now we realise that it is in fact both Activision (for rushing the game and forcing dlc contracts for profit and extention of the games lifespan) AND bungie for allowing this to happen. Where is the story? Who am I? What is the darkness? What is the traveler? What's the great war? What are the vex cabal hive and fallen? Why are they the minions of the darkness? What are the factions in the tower? Is the city really worth protecting, we are protecting something we have never seen! What are we doing in the vault of glass? What's with the Queen of the awoken? What are the exo's? Who is that stranger who appears for 2 FREAKING CUTSCENES??!!?? And finally, where is the rest of the game? Are you planning on releasing each dlc separately as a whole new game and calling them destiny: The house of wolves or destiny: Dlc ripoff number 3048? Because atm it sure as hell seems like it! Please please please for the love of god fix the problems with this game FOR FREE NOT IN PAID DLC'S!!! And give us THE FULL GAME AND MAKE SOME MORE ACTUALLY NEW CONTENT FOR DLC.
-
Yep, what we got was so boring and incoherent it was more like we paid for a 300-page book and inside was just the summary and first chapter, and then 250 blank pages. And actually the first chapter was all crossed out with black markers and a new first chapter written in crayon.
-
the sad thing about the story is that all the questions you asked are answered in the grimoire cards you've earned. everything, from the exo-stranger to what the vex and cabal are, even your ghost
-
Edited by DocPossible: 10/25/2014 5:31:25 PMWho cares if the questions are answered in grimoire cards? I wanted the Lord of the Rings, not (just) the Silmarillion!
-
And even the grimoire cards don't explain who you were before and what really happened, they shed a little light (exo stranger pun right there) on things but so far all they seem to do is create more questions
-
I know, but why should you have to leave the game to find out about the game? I have read every grimoire card I have... And all they have done is open more questions which should have been answered IN THE GAME
-
I also wish the grimoire cards are able to be accessed in game. also btw. when I entered the dust palace. this supposed ps3/ps4 exclusive, guess what console I was using and I managed to play in there. an xbox 360. so it isn't really exclusive dlc wise. it's in all the copies of the game. also a few days ago I managed to glitch my way into the citadel on venus and found 3 dead ghosts, no enemies though.
