Perhaps I missed it in the grimoire, but the vex seem smart enough not to miss this. Why isn't their core on their back? Or covered with a metal plate, or with some small force field?
Are the vex too stupid for that? They can jump across galaxies in the blink of an eye but this is just too much!
Is it explained at all??

5 RepliesVariety? Would be pretty lame and boring if the Vex, like all 3 other major alien races in the game, had their head as their crit spot. I thought it was pretty funny too - we are told that the Vex are this collective mind that think as a massive unit, that can teleport and travel all across the universe and spawn from thin air. But not one of them thought to put some sort of flap over their belly button? GG Bungie

1 ReplyNot sure about the front/back placement, but the expsure could be to prevent overheating. Presumably, the power source is warm and enclosing it would, potentialy, restrict it's ability to regulate a safe temperature. So, uncovered under standard conditions, and, as Animercenary, temporarily covered (via crouching) when in combat.

Edited by NormanOsborn: 10/8/2014 8:00:09 AMI love it when you hit that weak spot and it doesn't kill it. Then the laughs ensue for me when it continues firing at you hunched over trying to block the weak spot with its head.
-
5 RepliesYou know, it's a game so I couldn't care less if they had metal plating or whatever, they are here to die and it ends there.
-
Edited by That Halo Dude: 10/8/2014 3:48:14 PMMinotaurs actually do have a cover over their....goo-tank thing. If you watch Zydron come out of his gate, you can actually see the plates open up and reveal his weak spot.
-
The official lore would say, that part is the only "organic" part of the Vex. The in game mechanics would be to add variety and change it from headshots lol
-
i suspect it is because they have an endless army. why care about a weakness when they can replace one loss with a thousand others?
-
4 RepliesMinotaurs ain't got no weak spot
-
2 RepliesBecause it is a reflex to shoot them in the head. Fallen=headshot. Hive=headshot. I go to shoot the vex in the first encounter. And they rush me to suicide bomb me. Not gonna lie. I freaked out. Shot one. Went to shoot the other and boom. I'm dead.

One of the down sides of picking style ovre function...

Edited by JoeJitsu22: 10/8/2014 3:13:22 PMSince they can jump through time they saw the whine fest that would ultimitely ensue on bungie.net. so they said "hey, we need to throw them a bone here before the nerf us anyways."
-
9 RepliesIs there a reason that the vex who can travel through time destroy the earth before the golden age. Could it be that we created them so they dont wipe us out or could it be that its a game and who cares shoot then till they are dead.
-
You want an explanation as to why the Vex have a weak spot in an easily accessible area? It's a game, that's why
-
fluff reason? no idea real reason? because it's a game with critical modifiers and as such enemies need a critical spot.
-
What is this logic you speak?
-
Maybe they didn't have a natural enemy... No need for protection if no one is going to attack you, right? But that was until they met us and the Cabal. idk....
-
Because all Vex are female and they're pregnant
-
2 RepliesProbably can't have it overheating

1 ReplyTheory; Most bipedal vex have these points of weakness, with a couple exceptions in the mibotaur and praetorian class. That said. The vex are clearly not above the military tactic behind expendable and cheaply replaced units. Remember that while you happily hammer away at the exposed bellies of the many, the powerful few are targeting you with superior ordinance.
-
Well normal goblins are foot soldiers, The kind of soldiers you send in in numbers.... Our own government/military doesn't mind sending in out soldiers without the best armor available. The minotaurs on the other hand don't have a weak point. Maybe the question isn't intelligence but the reason is resources instead?
-
pf Bungie made these sitting well super evil beings in their image :) so next time you blast their bodies to bits think about Bungie
-
And why the hell are the harpies so exposed, why not make the main visual sensor smaller, why not divide it into 120 smaller sensors, sharing the data, eliminating the weakspot. Or work with sonar or lasers instead? The vex need to hire an engineer. Or just some guy or gal with a brain.
-
1 ReplyThey actually cover sometimes by crouching
-
2 RepliesMino's are the perfect vex, no weakness!!!
-
3 RepliesThey should have two fluid filled sacks on their asses instead, so they have more pronounced buttocks.
-
1 ReplyLol it makes almost as much sense as the story mode
