I was told awhile back that I should care about the Iron Banner because you get great gear. Gear equivalent to raid gear and able to get guardians to level 30. Well turns out that's not true. You receive the same gear you had access to since the game released.
So I ask what is my incentive to grinding in the banner when it plays exactly the same as the regular crucible with the same rewards? I guess it's back to the raid lottery. Maybe I'll get something this week.
Edit: Maybe I'm in the minority, but I expected more than this from the banner. The way they presented it I expected more depth as they made it look like a keystone for the game. This game continues to disappoint.

That's right, I get home from work, team up with some mates, and shoot silly looking space dudes in cloaks , and it's fun. Ooooo and what's that, you want to give me things to make my space solder look cool, why thank you .

Their really isn't much of an incentive in this playlist
-
4 RepliesIt's just a playlist, play it or not. I play it because i feel like it's more competitive. I don't play skirmish because I don't like it. Apply to life similarly

The only complaint I have, and I'm a positive destiny player. Is I tested out how many shots it requires to kill a 28 vs a 16. I got both players to simply let me kill them(to msging) to test my theory of equal amount of shots to kill someone still. I was wrong by 2 bullets. Over 10 levels higher and a difference in hundreds of armor defense and it still took almost the same amount of bullets(basic auto rifle, kinetic dmg) to the 16 to the 28. I think either dmg needs adjustment or armor needs a boost in the calculations. I should be able to drop a 16 in a couple of shots, or it should be twice as hard to kill a level 28. Maybe a thing like the raid. For every level under a player u are u have a 5% dmg reduction?

3 RepliesEdited by Jordanary: 10/9/2014 10:24:25 AMI entirely agree with OP on this one, I'm always one to defend this game, But the Iron Banner has just really took a massive poo all over my outlook on Destiny, Or at least the PvP side of things (I realize I'm rationalizing..) But the Iron Banner was put out there to be what I feel it should've been, but isn't. "Hey, Wanna punish some people and teach them that the armor you just grinded for all this time means something? and that they can't even stand a chance against you at level 4? well, teach 'em something" Is what I went into the Iron Banner thinking. But I came out of my first game "Well, that felt absolutely no different than the normal ol' Crucible, I swear to the gods, Bungie... if you just shafted me.." So, Obviously I tried again.. So, mid-way through my second game I was thinking "Oh, hey that was a level 12 that just killed me. THAT WAS A LEVEL 12 THAT JUST KILLED ME?!" and instantly left the game, out of pure frustration and rage that my hopes were furiously pounded violently by Bungie. So, of course I tried one last game, and my god... If I didn't feel like a very low priced individual that happens to be making her way by selling her body to support her kids financially knowing fully that she had gotten herself into that mess in the first place... But yeah, The shader and the armor looks pretty sweet, So ya got that goin' for ya. All and all, Iron Banner made me want to cry. But I hear Deej has something planned, so til then, I continue to cry. And if I get let down, once again because a loop hole was found in what they said in a trailer that they chose to introduce the Iron Banner with, I'll just have to... I'LL JUST HAVE TO not do anything because it's their franchise, not mine. But, I do know that if it's no different when Deej decides to do his thing and establish they failed to implement the mechanic of the whole "Level advantage is a thing" and that they plan on making it a thing, or they intentionally made it the way it is, I'll have to end up forgiving it. But I can say I was let down by the Iron Banner, And REALLY hope something gets worked out so that some kind of a level advantage is implemented.

Shaderrrrrrrrrrrrrzzzzz. And I really like the way the class items look, too.

Domination
-
5 RepliesThe whole capless gear wasn't as extreme as I liked. But it does seem the IB has more competition. Because it forces you to team up with friends to win, for the most part. So its more fun in that aspect. Plus the shaders and class item looks cool.
-
3 RepliesThe same incentive as putting ex lax in pot brownies. For shits and giggles
-
A cool cape for hunter?
-
2 RepliesEdited by TuTone: 10/9/2014 1:01:02 PMI actually prefer the combat in the Iron Banner than normal Crucible. The guns just feel right. They don't feel like pea shooters. And even if you don't win, you still get a chance at RNG loot at the end of the match.

So I played a couple of rounds of Iron Banner... I don't think I'll play any more this week. Control isn't my favorite and I'm surprised that's the only event open for IB. Is best of the best really who can hold a capture point the longest? How about good ole team death match? Or free for all for goodness sake? If anything, I'd think TOP guardian would be a free for all only event... Makes no sense to me. I'm out. Raids, weeklies, and occasional crucible for me.

I'm doing it for the shaders and warlock class armour, it looks the best out of the three for a change
-
Edited by Marzy: 10/9/2014 10:02:36 AMTo get to lvl 1 and realise its shit and walk away with a new shader
-
My incentive, be it Iron Banner or Crucible, is raining pain down on everyone else!
-
5 RepliesIron Banner is Broken. No way around it.
-
1 ReplyAwesome Cape for the hunter that's all I'm doing it for!
-
You can get weapon with 358 damage, ha a pretty incentive for me :)
-
2 RepliesThe first game I played, the second to worst player in the match got an exotic heavy machine gun called thunderlord. That's the incentive, you don't need to do crap to get stuff (to clarify, it annoys me this happens).
-
Don't care as long as the shaders are cool and the armour suits me and is at least my level
-
I received a hand canon called Timur's Lash! This gun is awesome! Lvl 30 gear huh where u read that at never heard that before...
-
Fun and bragging rights.
-
9 RepliesI feel the same. Iron banner is not what it was said to be. I should be 1 shotting lvl 8's, and it should take them a hot minute to kill me. The gear is not raid level gear, and you cannot obtain iron banner gear as a reward, it has to be purchased. My experience in iron banner, is the rewards are worse than crucible too. In crucible I was get way more legendarys (to break down for shards) then iron banner. I've played at least 50 matches already and not 1 person has gotten a legend gear as a reward. All Rares

1 Replyif you need shards.....10 crucible marks for gloves...you know what i mean..other than that....crap. not even a SHIP!!
-
Fun. The incentive is fun.
-
4 RepliesI really like the look of the gear, so that's enough incentive for me. Plus the gear is very cheap (only 10 marks), so I can dismantle the rest for shards. Also I enjoy playing the IB! I'm already a quarter of the way through rank 2.
