Hey Bungie,
Being an avid player of Destiny it is very frustrating for me to come across shielded enemies due to the fact that I'm colorblind. Solar is fine, I can see that one, but when it comes to void or arc it's impossible for me to tell the difference.
I think it'd be a great addition to the game to allow players the option to display the type of shield the enemy has on the enemy's name plate. So essentially right next to their level maybe it just shows a little arc/solar/void logo, the same ones that are used to display the damage type in your inventory, right on the screen.
Thanks guys, let me know what you think.
See you all in the wild.

I completely support this in every manner.

I concur to this post. Im not personally colorblind but its def a + for those who are.

This is a good idea

Nothing, but benefit. So yeah....approval.

Omg finally someone will help me and my color blind ass eyes! Seriously Im colorblind and it sucks I always have to ask what shields are
-
I'm not colorblind but I know quite a few people that are, so I'll get behind this. OP throw a poll on the thread to have it patched in and bump every day for visibility. Be sure to throw this in 'Feedback' too.

As a fellow colorblind I feel the same way, the logo would be a great implementation :)

Edited by DeathWyvern: 10/9/2014 2:23:35 PMAbsolutely, the shield bar seems a little too artsy, I have trouble seeing it overlayed with a yellow bar even without color blindness.

1 ReplyYes. This is necessary. I can't tell the difference between shields AND rare/legendary engrams. A colorblind option would be great.

5 RepliesEdited by anthrax99: 10/8/2014 8:10:55 PMi must be blind completely. i had no idea the shields were elemental and were affected by the corespsonding elemental weapons. i just thought they had to be worn down by lots of firepower *slaps head* its times like this a manual, tutorial, or even a better story to simply explain shit like this would come in handy. i would have never known otherwise if i wasnt on here to see this conversation. now i need more weapons, all the ones im carrying only have void power. *slaps head again*

I also can't tell the difference between blue and purple engrams when they drop. Not a real 'problem' more suprising at the end of the day when I suddenly have purples in my inventory. But I has the feels for you.

5 RepliesIf they don't and it learn what enemies have what sheilds. Void Psion Vex minotar Arc Shielded harpies Fallen captains

7 RepliesI have a color blindness, and I doubt bungie is going to address this. The different shields do have a different look to them other than color. Work with your fireteam members to help you learn which is which, but in general the Fallen use Arc (Captains, and Servitors) that looks like a shimmering aura. The Psions and Minotaurs use Void, which is sort of rounded and wavy. And Wizards, Centurions, and Elite Shanks have Solar, which has pointed flames. This is how I identify them most often, and I ask team mates to be certain.

juat learn the enemy, they always have the same shield type whenever they have shields

2 RepliesEdited by Daytona LL: 10/8/2014 7:19:30 PMI like this. I'm not color blind but I don't want color blind people to feel left out. the only alternative is to know what kind of shield each enemy has, because it never changes void: Minotaur (vex) Psion (little robots with the cabal) (cabal) arc: Captain (fallen) Harpy (vex) Knight (hive) solar: Any really fat guys (cabal, I forget the name) Shanks (crappy flying robots) (fallen) Wizard (hive) I think I might have missed some but that covers most of them. You won't see psion, harpy, or shanks with shields unless you do Nightfall or some events (public events, queen missions which are over but might be back) typically they do not have shields

Sucks for you and others in your shoes. Best bet is to look up what enemies have what shields and commit to memory. While some games do have ease of access for this type of thing, its not really a high priorty...

1 ReplyThis would be nice, also if the colour names are displayed when picking for the character creation part so i can be sure i wont be laughed at for having my fearsome fighters all pink.
-
... There are different-colored shields? Lol I knew about the weaknesses. I just memorized them though.
