Valus Ta'aurc Strike NERF

Valus Ta'aurc strike is in need of a nerf very badly. Not the boss himself. The strike in general. Doing the 3 elite guards, then a tank, then a giant bullet sponge boss is insane. Attempting the weekly heroic with 2 different sets of very seasoned level 26-27 guardians sporting legendary and exotic gear is even too difficult. These strikes are meant for level 22. After taking down the 3 elite guards and the Goliath tank and a few dozens deaths and finally getting to Valus Ta'aurc ends in a climatic controller through the TV (sarcasm: my controller and TV are fine) The problem is there are too many elite phalanx and elite psion goons at once. There's usually 6 or more elite enemies in addition to the 6 or more regular enemies. All the while Valus is shooting rockets and such at you. My suggestion is to lower the amount of enemies at once, or only allow a certain amount of elites to spawn at once. Difficulty is the whole point of a weekly strike but being damn near impossible is a big turn off. I'm only referring to the fight with Valus. Not the 3 guards or the tank. Yes those are easy. The fight with Valus, to me, would make it more enjoyable with less elite units spawning and more regular units. I did manage to solo it.

  • The bosses in this game are nothing but bullet sponges. Lame design and piss poor art direction.

  • Did it on level 28 with only 2 level 27 players, the tank is easy, sit high and snipe..... The rest is just a case of back to back and hit the boss when your free to. The game is designed to be hard no nerfs needed.

  • I was beginning to lose patience with it when the 3 guards appeared. It's the one Strike in the game that I absolutely loath. I do feel as if it's more about quantity of foes to fight ( and how much health they have, how much damage they can take and how much they can deal ) than quality and variety of content and strategy.

    • I find the tank bit too long. Also, people sure love destroying those vehicles pointlessly in the lead up the tank. Again and again.

    • Just done this one; 3 level 25s. Succeeded, but got blown to bits a lot 'cos we were seriously overwhelmed at times, and those nuke storms he throws at you are guaranteed kills. But hey, it's what PvE is all about surely. If you managed to solo it then mucho kudos to you.

    • Did the Nightfall and The 28 Heroic and had no problems with either. The enemies were fine, in my opinion. It's all a matter of team coordination and communication. We rolled with a Striker, Sunsinger, and Bladedancer the first time through. Striker and Sunsinger were both on adds detail while my Bladedancer was focused on Valus. The Striker we had was dealing with the adds that spawned nearby me, while i sniped. My wife, who was the Sunsinger, dealt with the adds across the way. I had Ice Breaker, so i could pump shots onto him endlessly, keep myself in cover very well, and kept his attention solely on me. You just need one person on each group of adds, and at least one person on the boss at all times. If need be, switch jobs with someone on the fly. Be flexible and be ready to change up the plan a bit of things go south.

      • Me and my buddies beat the nightfall in 30 minutes. It's fine the way it is, there's already too many easy games out there. Developers dumb games down too much these days. You just have to find the right strategy and execute it. It's just like the raid. At first it was taking hours to beat it, but now people are running it in under 45 minutes. You just gotta step your game up!

      • As the weekly/nightfall and the fact that I have a lot of friends that wanted help on multiple characters (including me running my 2) I have ran this strike about 15 times in the past week. The guards and tank are fine, the final boss has way too much life. It doesn't make it harder, it just takes forever. It takes as long if not longer to kill him as it does to get to him. That's all I would like to see change, cut his life by ⅓ or even ¼ would be awesome.

      • The Mars strike is no harder than defeating Phogoth or the Nexus. Valus needs a patch to himself because after he gets to half health he spams his missiles every .75-2 seconds. Makes it hard to focus him.

        • Good for you for soloing it! I found it very difficult with 3 other people! But yes I do completely agree, it's very hard. I am dreading it because I don't want it to be another weekly strike.

          • I soloed it both nightfall and heroic on 28 then carried 2 people through afterwards for their rewards. Shits easy just time consuming

          • My only problem with that strike is backpedaling into a spawn point of phalanxes and them doing that leaping shield bash attack that will either instantly kill me or send me flying into Valus's line of sight. The phalanxes plus the legionaries plus the psions plus valus is a bit much at times

          • Strikes are meant for a 3 man fireteam. If you can solo it at level then it can't be all that hard. I did it with a group of my friends and while it was challenging (nightfall), it was not impossible.

          • I did it with a team of 28/29 on lvl 28 and the lvl28 nightfall. It takes time but it is not impossible. The last boss is actually easy but time consuming if you know where to get cover.

          • I did it as a lvl 27, with another 27 and a 26 and we did just fine on the night strike. It's not that hard.

          • No offense, but you might just suck? Okay yes, that certainly seems very offensive, and it probably is more than a bit. But in all reality, so many players are saying it's not that bad. I've solo'd it, duo'd it, carried two noobs who enter it on "Very Hard", on 28 AND on the nightfall (nightfall was easier, yay arc burn). Overall, the concensus is that it's NOT hard. So then why would you say the strike needs nerfed very badly? Well... I think the problem is not the challenge, but the player(s). If they were seasoned level 26's and 27's in legendary and exotic gear, they should ABSOLUTELY be able to take him on Level 22. The Valus Ta'aurc strike is seen by many to be one of the easiest just because the boss tactics are so simple. Three of the minibosses are phalanxes, and they provide you with respawning interceptors to blast around their shield if you can't shoot them. The tank is super-easy if you're actually trying to damage it. The most dangerous thing about him is the fiery cannon shot, but you can easily dodge it by flying or strafing. Combine that with the interceptor to deal massive damage even when solo, and the tank is probably the easiest vehicle to fight. Then Valus Ta'aurc himself can easily be tricked to get headshots where he tries to shoot at your covered body and can't touch you. Enemy resistance moves about the map as the fight goes on, and you can choose where to stand all around him to find places the enemies aren't, making even a solo fight relatively simple when you stop to look where the safest spots are. Yes, people can cheese this boss, but you don't even need to. If you have allies, one can cover your back while you shoot his head with minimal resistance on his part. Rockets may be bad, but you can dodge those too by flying and tricking them to fly over you as you land. My guess is that since you've never used a hand cannon, and almost never used a scout rifle, the problem is that you aren't fully aware of what you can do with other guns and how they can be useful in different situations, as well as being underexperienced and complaining something is too hard instead of trying different weapons. Maybe your team lacks the coordination to know not everybody needs to be firing on the boss, or to realize you're being swarmed and should move to one of the other hundred places you could take cover. Maybe you don't know how to quickly dispatch of foes by utilizing all of the weapons in your arsenal including grenades and supers, or know how to take weapon stats into consideration when picking which fusion rifle you should be using or whether this auto rifle with low impact but high rate of fire is better or worse than the one with moderate impact and rate of fire? Maybe you don't know how to predict attacks and/or dodge them effectively? Maybe, just maybe, the problem is that you aren't that good at the game?

            • Look up a couple of guides to do it. It really does help. My friend and I, my friend is pretty good and I'm not too bad, beat the nightfall strike on our first try. You can't just bumrush the entire strike like normal, it takes time. Oh and we were both level 27 when we completed it.
