How to balance trading. Disscusions.

I feel like if trading were to ever be implemented in this game, the way to do it would be to trade each other something of equal value. A friend and I have Exotics that the other one wants, there should be no harm in trading an exotic for an exotic right?

  • The only trading you'll ever see in this game will be linked to Fireteam when the item drops and will have a timer that will limit the amount of time you have to trade the item to a person that was in your fireteam at the time of the drop. Mark my words.

  • -Resets all upgrades -Can only trade same quality item(Exotic for exotic. Legendary for legendary) -Can't be traded for material items

  • Trading an item should also reset progress in upgrading said item

    • Have to say no to trade. It'll just turn into noobs getting screwed and RMT for player profit. And when real money is invalid many cheaters come out.

    • How about unrestricted trading like every game ever created? But having Bungie pull their heads out of their ass is asking too much.

    • Trading only once a week per account. Item most be broken down at a vendor to a tradable form. This resets it's progress and becomes unusable until traded. This costs 25 strange coins for exotics lower for other rarities. Only rng items can be traded items bought from a store or earned from a bounty can not be traded. Super strict trading but sounds like what the community wants haha. I'm not sure if I want trading, but it does suck to want one item and have almost no chance to get it due to all the randomness.

      • I am apprehensive to the idea of trading in Destiny. Coming from Diablo 3 on console, I found it very easy to dupe all the gear we got. If Bungie implements a trading system, I would hope a lot of time goes into making it 100% dupe-proof. If it cannot be done, I woulda not like to see it implemented at all. As far as balancing goes, I don't believe that will be an issue. Friends would give friends good gear, but won't just hand out gear to randoms (mostly). And if 90% of the community happens to hit level 28 because of the ability to trade, it might force Bungie to develop more end-game content designed for high level players, which is welcome to me. Either way, this conversation has always seemed like one over inflation. Good gear is good because it is rare; the ability to trade would make it less rare and, therefore, worth less. I believe that the best solution for this is to simultaneously do two things. Firstly, create something very similar to the Borderlands Pearlescent tier rarity. Make it ultra rare, like in Borderlands, and make it limited to only high level, end game content. Make it so that you aren't at a disadvantage for not having it, but rather are at an advantage for having it. This point more refers to weapons, whereas armor would be trickier to put in. But if Bungie could find a balanced way to do it, then by all means do it. Secondly, make these ultra rare weapons and armor bound to account. This way, the best of the best still retain it's value and can hedge against any possible duping method found. Also, since these gear pieces would be tied to high level end game content, players wouldn't rely as much on RNG, since they have a place to specifically get these pieces. Wall of text, I know, but these are my thoughts. Feel free to comment.

The games been out for less than a month and i have 2 28s and a 26. All have exotic weapons and armor and the 26 has one rare left. We dont need trading. We need more content.

        • Xur has already gauranteed the extreme inflation of exotics. By the end of October, everyone will have everything. The only exception is raid gear.

            • Yeah, a one for one of same status would work. Id take it a step further tho. Only weapons for weapons and armor for armor

              • No trading please. Play the game and you will receive gear.

                • I like the idea of equal value trades. Exotic or exotic for example. I dont see why itd be such a big deal.

                • 1. Only allow items of equal value to be traded for each other. 2. Put restrictions on trading in general. Once every two weeks (example) or within clan only to members that have been in the clan for 2 weeks (again, just an example). With how random the loot system is I'm for a trading system. If you could target exotics or legs by doing specific content my opinion would be completely different.
