Why do Players dislike PvP?
I really want to understand this.
My impression now is that players that don't like PvP dislike it because they're bad at it.

1 ReplyPeople like me who have a lot of time in the game don't like being on a basically exactly even playing field with noobs who just got the game. 5 days of gameplay vs 1 hour of gameplay Sad thing is it'll be a toss up. The veteran should get SOMETHING I'm not saying a guaranteed gunfight win but at least make armor rating factor in a BIT... It's ridiculous. Makes players feel like their work is all for naught when someone 20 levels below you can beat you easily.

Most of the problem comes mostly from there being no voice chat. Without voice chat there is no tactic or strategy. Everyone except me seems to just stupidly run up on the opponent and hope they win the 1vs 1. That's why I scratch my head when I see threads saying "if you do such&such you have no skill". There's no skill necessary. It's a slugfest.

Edited by Fanboy3k: 10/6/2014 1:03:16 AMThe issue I have with pvp in Destiny is it's entirely to lethal. It plays faster and more loosely then even Call of Duty or Unreal tournament. It boils down to everyone just trading one shot kills over and over. I wish either we were a tad tougher or the weapons just a bit weaker so there was a bit more cat and mouse and less of this 3D environment take on wack a mole. Edit: and of course the fact that there is no means to communicate with your team....

My only dislike about PVP is the reward system. Other than that, I have no complaints (Not even about Blade Dancers, shotguns, Titans, etc...).

3 RepliesThe main reason is because playing better gets you no extra reward. In fact, in the dozens of games I have played, I noticed the lower you are on the after game roster the better your rewards are. Very rarely do I notice the top player get more/better loot then the bottom player. If they even get loot at all.

To everyone complaining about one hit kill guns and unbalanced issues are correct. HOWEVER, if you want a game type that is much more 'balanced' do SKIRMISH. Seriously, the biggest issue is close range play and the clusterf**k of people who honestly have no clue of what is going on or just group up and make getting 3 pieces a joke in control and clash. skirmish is less hectic and more strategic, revives are clutch for points. I recommend people go try it out, seriously, it's much better.

I'm not bad at PVP, maybe about average. PVP can be fun, sometimes. Playing with a full of team of friends so that you can have a laugh is when it is fun. On the other hand no rewards for multiple games in a row while the guy consistently bottom gets legendary engrams and exotics thrown at him is frustrating. I get why Bungie decided to make it this way, but it doesn't change the fact that you feel like playing PVP is a total waste of time. Now, I know I'm going to get flak for this, but shotguns and fusion rifles are annoying. Don't get me wrong, I can counter them, it isn't hard. Strafe or jump so a whole fusion burst doesn't hit you, and of course use range against shotguns, it isn't rocket science. What I hate though is that one camper, hiding in a corner with a shotgun waiting for people to pass by, same goes for the fusion rifle. I'm not saying they are OP, I just hate how some people use them. Ok, after this long post I think I understand now that I don't dislike PVP, I dislike camper scum.

Also, I get really stressed out and my heart starts racing, which can make it more fun because it feels so intense, but that also makes me play worse. So yeah, pretty much because I'm bad at it. And because mobs don't hide around the corner with a shotgun. But I also don't come on the forums and butch about how bad I did in PVP today, mostly because I know it's because I suck.

It's not like your typical pvp with performance based rewards. Makes for a very dull 15 minute match. No ranking system other than my crucible rep which really doesn't get me anything too special. Crucible marks are very scarce and take a long time to accumulate anyways. At the end of the day, it can be very boring to play after only a couple matches

I've never been good at at any PvP games I'm mean I've got by but I've just never enjoyed them to begin with. so here I am with an uncharged thorn making me have to get kills in the crucible with void damage and man do I suck.

Getting killed by a player you already killed 3 seconds earlier gets annoying.

It isn't competitive. There is literally zero reason to win matches, get good kills vs deaths, and play objectives. We don't get any better chance at drops versus someone who afked the whole game and contributed nothing, either. It's just social. Easily fixed with a rank system or rewards

Because it's either a race to see who can spam their super the most or who has the best fusion rifle/shotgun.

I have a positive K/D and have played plenty of matches, I hate it because shotgun noobs that are the real bad players.

I don't like the Crucible because if I wanted to play a PvP game, I would go play Titanfall. It is much smoother and is actually fun.

I don't like how many ways there are to cheese kills. If a game is going to have super-abilities that OHK anything it touches, the TTK, in my opinion, should be much higher.I was hoping that the classes would have specific roles in PvP, like TF2, but that doesn't seem to be the case. Plus, adding in Shotguns and Fusion rifles, how certain classes can totally just lockdown objectives like in control, it just isn't appealing to me. Not my kind of PvP. I'll just stick with TF2 for now.

Destiny pop is a long series of no skill one shots, supers, fusion rifles, and overpowered classes like Hunters. I have some friends who are very good at fps that despise Destiny pvp. They don't like the constant bombardment of no skill garbage. Like arc blade. How did something this dumb overpowered make it into the game. Good players in fps find that gun and get so accurate they can do good in most situations. It is about aim, movement, and understanding maps. Destiny pvp is about what class you choose. Hunters need a nerf first and foremost. Warlocks need adjustments. Nova bomb is a ranged aoe fist of havoc. Wtf. Basically, no one wants to do it because of all the no skill garbage. It sucks. Destiny pvp rewards players with success for the wrong reasons.
