I realize this post isn't flaming someone, whining, or begging for something to be changed. Sorry for thinking outside the box and trying to help the community of players who actually like the game!
lol :D
Yeah, I've noticed this but .. I've kinda been overwhelmed how much I'd need to do it.. though I've only recently noticed that the materials tend to respawn if you just stay at the same area with multiple respawn spots and kill people and drive around, moving within the area...
I think I've had best luck on Venus, as the spirit blooms are (in my opinion) easiest ones to spot. But do you think Mars has more relic irons?
Which area of Mars would you recommend? (The beginning area isn't exactly packed with them - as every time I do a mission on each planet, I've made it my "rule" to pick up a few materials from that planet, slowly building up my collection and I just pick them up from the beginning and then go off on my mission)
So yeah, we could collectively try to find out which areas are the best for collecting these "ingredients" :)
(For spirit blooms, I recommend going to the right from the beginning and going to the first area where the shanks and gregs greet you between/among the broken down cars.. make your rounds there for loot chests and , then heading to the area with the big spaceship crashed in the middle and huge fight constantly going on with the fallen and the vex... the outer corners of the area aswell as the "inner" corners of the middle seem to spawn them pretty frequently, while you keep on killing the enemies to fight off boredom - Damn, I can't remember the names of said areas for the death of me :D I hope you get what I mean...)

It's honestly about the size of the zone. The smaller the zone, the more you will get per hour. If the zone is too big, you will use too much time running between spawn points. Find one that is relatively small and learn what you can about the spawn points. I firmly believe there can be 3 chests and 3 material nodes active all at the same time. As soon as one gets looted, another will spawn elsewhere. If you are doing your route and don't seem to be finding enough, just take a second to get up high and take a look around. Sometimes you will spot a new spawn point!

Edited by Sarcasm83: 10/4/2014 10:10:04 AMHmmm, curious.. I had assumed that if the area is too small, it won't spawn a new one as you're still so close to the previous one when you go for the next one. I guess I've been playing GTA too much, where nothing spawns unless you go a good distance away from it :D I really need to get into researching good spots - thanks for the tip. (Oh and has anyone else noticed that the materials could also de-spawn if you take too long? I'm not 100% sure, but the other day I could've sworn I saw a spirit bloom while doing a public event, but it wasn't there after I was done with it a few minutes later)

It is hard to tell when someone picks a spirit bloom, but anything else has a reddish aura about the node if someone has picked it already. It stays active for another 30ish seconds before disappearing and reapspawning somewhere else. This is most likely what happened.

Get to the area where the Vex and Cabal are fighting around the warbase, keep doing circuits of the base, check every spawn zonefor chests, it's easy to get into a rhythm, and you can gain LOADS of relic iron. No need to go hunting for iron nodes themselves, they don't stick out all that well compared to spinmetal and spirit bloom.

About spirit blooms I made little test run for one hour and ended up with 126. There was fair amount of other looters also so i think you can push that up to 150 or more when circumstances are right.
