Did people really think that the patch was going to give them more legendary gear?

Understanding the drop rate game..... I keep reading these posts "now im only getting blues" and " the patch had more changes then they said". I want you to think about the loot system and drop rates. remember legendary gear should not be easy to get via random drops. PRE Patch The reason your legendary engrams were turning blue before is because the drop rate for legendary gear from mobs was/is low as it should be. Getting a legendary engram just told you that you had a better chance of getting a purple much like winning the 1st round of a drawing. you would get a good amount of purple engrams most if not all would turn blue. I will agree this was a dumb way of doing it. POST PATCH They changed around the way we deal with that low drop rate. NOW instead of getting legendary engrams that turn blue, you get mostly if not all blue engrams. HELLO PEOPLE!!! they didn't change the drop rate.. they mad it easier to understand for those who I guess couldn't figure it out before. Those purps you would get in the mail from lvling up were never ment to ALWAYS be purple, no they were meant to be rare in most cases. Before you complain about how the patch broke everything blaa blaaa think about how rare a legendary piece of gear SHOULD BE. you should not be relying on random mob drops to gear your toon anyway. Those drops should be considered a bonus nothing more. Edit: The title should say "more legendary gear from random drops" this post is about random drops not awards from completing stuff. :)

 • We should sticky this. This is exactly what it did and how it should work. The patch was implemented so people didn't get confused or outraged that their purple decoded to a blue. The patch simply made it easier to understand what you'll be getting. The chances, more or less, are relatively the same. Except now nightfalls, dailies and tigerstrikes will lead to more chances at legendarys. I've only had one legendary engram drop for me my whole time playing Destiny, and guess what? I'm perfectly okay with that. I don't need to have purples falling from the sky when Destiny already gives you a myriad of ways to obtain gear of equal value. The problem is that everyone else apparently has self entitlement issues and wants things spoon fed to them, which is leading them to their assumption that the patch didn't fix anything.
