Bungie is mentally retarded. It's a simple fact.
Looking back to Halo 2, there were alot of things that didn't work and some things that did. For a fully functioning human being, it is easy to logically see what those things were. Since Bungie doesn't consist of fully functioning human beings, tens of thousands held Bungie's hand by sending emails saying, "Bungie, you're an idiot because... [insert one of many flaws]. Fix this by... [insert one of many solutions]."
So, you'd think Bungie would have gotten the message. Nope.
Let's look at the dozens of things Bungie has decided to screw up. Again.
Email: "Bungie, why does the sword allow you to lunge 30ft and defy gravity? Please do not include the sword in Halo 3."
Bungie's Response: "So you hate the sword, right? Ok, we'll include it in Halo 3, we wont alter it at all, and we'll also make a Gravity Hammer which is basically a glorified sword."
E: "Bungie, the respawn points are embarrassingly awful. If a player dies, the incredibly obvious respawn point is as far away from any other player as possible. Please fix this, morons."
B: "So you're saying you shouldn't get killed by the same player you just killed? Ok, we'll make the system worse by make players not just respawn next to you, but touching you. This will destroy any stealth, make sniping annoying as hell, and cause you to be double or triple teamed."
E: "Maps are cool, Bungie. Good job!"
B: "Thanks, we'll be sure to make horrible ones for Halo 3."
E: "Grenades work great, well done."
B: "Thanks, we'll make sure to change the physics and make them incredibly inconsistant in Halo 3."
E: "Voice communication is great Bungie, no complaints here!"
B: "Thanks, we'll make changes for H3 so you have to manually turn it on and off every time you speak."
One of the incredible things about Starcraft from Blizzard is how incredibly balanced the gameplay is. They must have spent years developing the perfect balance between races. That's what makes it such an amazing game. Now, let me ask you a simple question...
What purpose do the following serve:
Sword
Rocket Launcher
Gravity Hammer
Shotgun
Mauler
Power drain
Regenerator
Sniper Rifle
Beam Rifle
Spartan Laser
Camo
Overshield
Bubble Shield
The answer is: They all exist for the sole purpose of creating unbalanced gameplay. Period. Wait a minute, I though Starcraft was so great because it was balanced? That's right. Bungie consciously made a horrible game on purpose.
No one is asking for Halo 3 to be a perfect game. We just wanted them to fix the obvious problems with obvious solutions. We want them to create a game that has a basis in reality. For example, what should take off more damage - slapping someone or shooting them with an automatic firearm? Bungie's answer is slapping them.
Bungie is mentally retarded. Undeniable fact.

Johnny, why haven't you locked this thread yet??

H3 is one of the best games ever and your crying about every thing you cant cope with, just cause you suck at the game doesnt mean you have the right to take it out on bungie.....so in conclusion you can suck my LEFT and stop playin if you suck and stop written about it, play a different game!!!! much love bungie and thank you BUNGIE WARRIOR TILL DEATH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

but youve got to admit that you cant make a H3 completely and totally perfect to prefect a game like H3 would take years to acheive
Posted by: Iminami Well, I'll try to respond to some of the replys in this thread dispite a barrage of insults on me. "If Bungie is so retarded, how can they make a game that millions of people play." So if many people follow an example, the example is must be good? All hail Hitler! "You have 5 minutes to make a better game than Halo 3." Uhhh... what? Bungie is a company of trained professionals. They've had years and years of trial and error. "You had to manually turn on voice in Halo 2 as well." Yes, but not the actual headset. It's either on or off in Team Slayer at least. "Unbalanced gameplay makes the game challenging." One shot kills with sniper rifles, rockets, beam rifles, shotguns, swords, and gravity hammers is a challenge? lol "Many weapons makes for diverse gameplay." True, except that many of the weapons like those I posted above are overpowered. I wouldn't mind if the sword, shotgun and grav hammer took off your shield, for example. Instead it's just "Boom. Your dead." "No one asked that the sword be taken out." The sword as it existed in Halo 2, absolutely. I like the idea of a sword too, just not a one hit kill from 30 ft. And yes, you can lunge an insane distance. Not 3 feet like some of you were saying. Are you joking? "Good motive, bad delivery." Fair enough, but the points are still valid, IMO. "Respawn points are fair, retard!" Respawn points are the most utter display of unfair, nonsensical gameplay. "Retards like Halo 3 because it gives them a chance to win." A voice of reason. Finally, perhaps I should rephrase my initial accusation. Part of Bungie is, for a nicer word, incoherent. Some of the Bungie team has been doing a FANTASTIC job since H1. These are the guys who desgined the controls and graphics for the game. The way a player moves around the map and interacts with their environment has been excellent since H1. If only the people who designed the other elements to the game were as coherent.
Even though you have the right to have an opinion please do not come here to the forums and insult Bungie because you are not good enough to be good at the game.

stfu, if you have a problem with bungie and how they do things, go make your own company and design an multi-million dollar game. then you can talk -blam!-.

if u ask me u should not be judgin bungie because u would not be able to make such an awsome game like H3 in 1000 yrs
Posted by: elitebeaver
Posted by: SoldierMigoo What? Each team has a seperate base to respawn in! And if they DO get into your base, guess what? Original OP, You're post is totally inappropriate. Let me just point an example of you're incorrectness. The Sword in Halo 2 was ridiculous. You could have a Battle Rifle out, change to sword and upon pressing the Y button, you could lunge an incredible distance, making the sword fairly unstoppable, without host, you were fairly screwed. Now on Halo 3, the Sword has been drastically changed. You cannot lunge on pressing Y, anyone in the game can kill a sword with relative ease, providing it's a lag free game. And host is not really a huge issue anymore, in my opinion. Stop calling Bungie mentally retarded, when you sound fairly retarded yourself. Oh, and i personally had countless hours of fun with Swords in Halo 2, split screen. I never once wanted the weapon to be removed, just altered, which Bungie has done perfectly. you have crossed the line how can you just sit there and call bungie names and basically say you hate them, its people like you that makes bungie think "why are we even doing this" bungie has made a extremely pleasing game and a hell of a series and if your gonna sit here and point out everything you hate well you can suck my LEFT, if your gonna act like this then why do you still play the game and write hate letters to bungie, real talk all your doing is just pOLE RIDING....lmao much love bungie and thank you BUNGIE WARRIOR TILL DEATH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
The sword didn't even lunge THAT far in Halo 2, and the melee lunge was also bigger than in Halo 3 to make up for that. It defies gravity, you say? It's a SCIENCE FICTION VIDEO GAME, not real life. Practically no one wanted the sword to be removed. Many wanted it nerfed, and Bungie followed through. The sword is EXTREMELY altered compared to how it was in H2. The gravity hammer is sort of crappy considering the fact that its lunge is smaller than the sword's, has less energy, and is slower. How the hell is that glorified? I do agree on the spawn system issue, but obviously Bungie realizes this and is probably thinking about solutions. In H2, you could spawn like right in front of people so they can assassinate you, often. In H3, the major issue is the fact that they spawn behind you when you're hiding in the back with the sniper, like on the beach on High Ground for example. Maybe you should try NOT hiding in the back. And don't complain because you can't handle more than one person at a time. I also agree that most H3 maps are pretty crappy, but then again, there were also only a handful of favorites in H2. The grenades are not inconsistent in H3, you probably just suck at throwing them because they have a smaller blast radius. You had to manually turn on voice communication in H2 with the white button. In H3, if there are four or less on your team, or if there is no more than 4 in a FFA, you can talk WITHOUT pressing anything. Other than that, you have to press the D-pad (which you can change--Walkie Talkie) to talk, similar to H2. The communication turns off automatically after you stop talking, idiot. The equipment is pretty -blam!- and unbalanced, and the game is not really any more or less balanced from H2. What kind of claim is saying that Bungie intentionally made a crappy game? Obviously, if melee damage was proportional to bullet damage like in real life, NO ONE would melee because it would be ridiculously weak and probably not even hurt. Also, you are probably just mad because you can't go positive. Don't hate Bungie because you suck at their game. [Edited on 02.23.2008 2:03 PM PST]

I disagree, Bungie did a good job on Halo 3. Don't blame them for you sucking at the game [Edited on 02.23.2008 2:09 PM PST]

I don't think anyone ever asked to get rid of the energy sword. It was new and shiny in Halo 2 and everyone ran for it. And if you can't tell when you'd be in the red reticle of a sword guy, you obviously haven't played either Halo 2 or Halo 3 very much. Or very well. As for things like grenades... um, sure it's different when you go to another game and maybe the frag doesn't fly as far as it used to at the same altitude. But this has all been compensated for, as stickies are easier to throw farther and spike grenades fly the least farthest. So we've got three grenade types here (excluding fire grenades which I haven't even used in multiplayer), one doesn't throw very far, one throws a fair distance, and one throws quite far. That seems awfully balanced to me. I mean, if you're playing StarCraft, and you send a marine up against a dragoon, you're gonna die. Likewise, if you throw a frag at someone across the map and they throw a sticky (and for some reason neither of you move), and his grenade reaches yours instead... well, you picked the wrong grenade. Just like how you picked the wrong unit in StarCraft. Sure, plenty of the maps in Halo 3 aren't as great as the Halo 2 ones, but Bungie will take criticism. Just not if you're rude about it like you are. More maps are on the way, anyway. And let's face it: the majority of the good Halo 2 maps came with the map packs. If you've got a problem pressing up on the D-Pad, there's a walkie-talkie controller layout you can set up which makes it a lot easier. Personally, I don't have any problems, though. Now let's look at the weapons you've listed that apparently make Halo 3 an unbalanced (and therefore unfair) game: Sword Rocket Launcher Gravity Hammer Shotgun Mauler Power drain Regenerator Sniper Rifle Beam Rifle Spartan Laser Camo Overshield Bubble Shield Every weapon has a counter-weapon. You just have to use your brain about it. If someone is coming at you with a sword, you don't run towards them. You run back with a BR or something and shoot them in the head. Or you get brave with a shotgun and hope your bullets land before his blade. I mean, any noob could figure this out after being killed by the sword just ONCE. The rocket launcher. Want to know how you avoid that? Move around! Or if he's close, use your own close-ranged weapon. Using a sword will lunge you towards him and the rocket will blow you both up. Most guys running around with gravity hammers get picked off easily because they don't know how to use it. You gotta realize that the game has changed since Halo 2. You can't flip to your secondary weapon and use it right away. There's an animation that comes to taking out the sword and the hammer, and you have to wait about half a second now. Well, that could be a deadly half a second. So pull your weapons out wisely. So if you're battling someone and he pulls out a hammer, punch him in the face. He won't be able to beat you down first. Or, like the sword, move back while shooting. It's really quite simple. In close-quarters maps, the shotgun can be annoying. However, just yesterday a guy with a shotgun came running at me and fired and he wasn't close enough to kill me. Nice thing about the shotgun is it's not a rapid-fire weapon. I beat him down between shots. Or... again... you can run back while shooting with a long-ranged weapon. The same can be said for the mauler. Look, if you're sucking in close-quarter maps because these things keep killing you, here's a tip: get one yourself and learn how to use it. I won't even regard you putting the sniper in this list. Every shooter game as a sniper. Perhaps this isn't your genre. And yet, you complain that the respawns work against you when you're trying to snipe. Which is it, man! And unbalanced weapon or a vulnerable one! The spartan laser is easy. Just watch as the read beam builds, then just when you think it's going to fire, drastically move in a different direction. Obviously if someone's targeting you and you don't see it, you're going to die. Same with many other weapons. But you can't live all the time! That's the point of the game. Have your wits about you and play with your brain. As for equipment... Bubble Shield - this thing is counter-productive half the time, as people who are shooting you are often close enough to just waltz into the shielf and kill you while you're weak. However, it is really handly strategically sometimes. That doesn't mean there's not strategies against it. You talk about people needing to hold Bungie's hand, when really it just sounds like everyone needs to hold your hand through this entire game. Power Drainer - Gee, maybe you could avoid the blue cloud thing. Recharger - Gee, maybe you could get as close to the green cloud thing as you can. I don't know why you listed the overshield and camo. These were in Halo 2. These were in Halo: CE. It's part of the Halo-verse. You don't like it? Stop playing. We won't miss you. Apart from (MAYBE) the respawn points, the things you've listed here are not things that Bungie needs to find solutions for because they're not broken. That doesn't mean Halo 3 is the perfect game. It does still have its flaws that we all hope will be addressed. And the nice thing is, Bungie really does listen to its fanbase unlike other game developers. And here you are abusing that.
