Even if it is a troll the general consensus is still ringing true. You released something far below 'Bungie' expected standards. Whatever the reasons - can your company as a whole with a straight face look at the gaming community and say this was the best we could do? (Not best we can do in the time we had...or with the money we have...or the assets we have... but as Bungie this was our best.) If you cannot you need to consider doing what SquareEnix did with FF14, pull the game off the shelves and go back to the drawing board. A re-released game with a coherent vision will do way better than a patchwork of DLCs trying to piece together an inconsistent story from leftover scraps. You'll galvanize a community that can respect and believe in you, this is how you get lifetime customers, correct your mistakes and admit your faults. Your publisher might hate you but you need to ask yourselves who do you make games for.
I bought a ps4 specifically to play this, it will collect dust if nothing changes, I won't be buying DLC until the core game is up to par. What it is now in its current form is lacking. You have the engine, assets, and developers to fix it, you just need to roll up your sleeves and do it, and it wouldn't hurt to be transparent about it. The community appreciates transparency more than you realize.

a re-release is a great idea at this point.

I'd buy that re-release if Bungie made their vision a reality.
