Talking about story i noticed the worlds have a lot of small rooms with really good lighting but nothing inside (other than a chest or a dead ghost if you are lucky.)
They could have put anythings in them:
Diary entries
Audio logs
Video projections
Even props that told stories themselves like a crime scene.
These rooms could have fleshed out the world a lot

Might be cut content as well. Another post I've read today made me realize this. I assume everyone knows the small rooms with high level hive enemies below surface on earth. What purpose do they serve? Did the devs really just put those in as a shortcut between 2 shacks? I mean there's nothing else in there apart from maybe a ghost they've hidden in there. But now that we know how much content has been cut from the game it all makes sense and as someone else mentioned these rooms might get a meaning with the coming dlcs.
