r/IAmA has a system of confirmation. You can pm your info to the mods, and they will add a confirmed tag if legit. This way, if your info needs to be kept secure, the general public doesn't see it. This guy didn't even attempt to get this done. And its a bit of a coincadinc that this wasn't his post, he simply replied to a request. After the map bug was found. I highly doubt this us legitimate.

Game devs all have a pretty tight NDA. If you might face legal action, would you want to verify your identity with anyone?

True, but some of the older mods have much more sensitive data. They are trustworthy.
