I've investigated the entire story myself and being a (former) fraud auditor I am pretty well trained at both (data) analysis and 'reading through the lines.' Although you may choose not to believe my former occupancy and disregard my opinion:
- There is no proof of who he/she is, let alone a former or current employee of Bungie
- There is no proof of what he/she is telling us is true
There is however some circumstantial evidence underlining his/her story including a 2013 article by IGN (and videos attached) and link which makes very clear intended content developed by Bungie - sufficient enough to show and 'brag' about to one of the worlds most read game sites- was not published in the end product. This particularly applies to the fully rendered storyline cut scenes in the reveal ViDoc that make more sense than the story in the final game itself. The reddit post itself all started from this mysterious and now deleted post of a claimed bungies tester which is supported by this photo taken from the ViDoc which together lean towards collaborated evidence. Last but not least IGN picked up on the reddit posts while their suspicion is clearly not in their best interest unless they believe to be onto something.
- What does concern me however is not what exactly he/she is saying but HOW it is been said and WHEN. To start with the latter; there is very little time between the questions being asked and his/her response. Secondly and more important he/she seems to be frustrated him/herself, yet he/she speaks of Bungie (and Activision) and its employees with dignity and respect, seems to know what he/she is talking about in terms of game development & publishing AND, most important, is very consistent in all of this. This also applies for negative answers, like I don't know / can't answer, which are most often followed by some sort of explanation AND then still are consistent with the rest his/her story. All of this together (timing and consistency) is extremely difficult to do in a made up story.
Conclusive: Together with my (our) own observations that the final product -although being developed for years AND put in the market otherwise- is lacking in both story and content, my opinion is that the statements of 404Architect should be considered legit. Future content and DLC hold against claims made by Bungie itself in the a 2013 IGN preview and claims 404Architect made will provide the necessary evidence to confirm or deny this statement.

Edited by RustyMuFFins: 10/2/2014 4:20:09 AMThere's also no point in lying as the disc can be checked for said content. Check the the web in a month and someone will have verified the existence of the cut content. Gamers, hackers, and modders have been looking at game code since games were a thing. I don't know of a game that hasn't had the hood opened. It's common knowledge that these things can be opened. This poster should also know that whether a (former)Bungie employee or not. There's no point in selling us bs. This may be a hoax, but really, why go through all the effort? Honestly, this stuff is more interesting than the game. (lol then that may be why, but let's be real, how likely is that?)
-
It's sad that virtually nothing from that ViDoc is present in the "finished" game.
-
Thank you for the help trying to understand this for what it is.
-
Regardless of whether the chat session is legit or not. Watching the ViDoc's makes me want to cry. This should have been so much more. I suppose what they imagined they would be able to create and the reality of creating it are just too much. Maybe over time it can be salvaged, but I doubt it. The only folks who will stay with the game are going to be PvP junkies and that is not the vision I see in these videos.

This entire thing goes along with my suggestion that Bungie had developed a far more massive, far more experimental and boundary pushing game with far greater features and a plot that was actually enjoyable and deep, much like Halo 1-3s. [On the one hand, Halo 1-3 had some pretty unoriginal names. SPARTANs, Covenant, Elites, Jackals, Brutes, Hunters. But their TRUE names were ingenuitive and creative. [Sangheili, San'shyuum, Mgalekgolo, Huragok, Lekgolo, Shaquoi, Yanme'e Jiralhanae, Kig-Yar and even Unggoy were all pretty dang creative]. The story was a bit cliche, but EXTREMELY engaging, making you feel like this grand BAMF of BAMFY BAMFINESS, roflstomping everything that stood in his way. Irrelevant tangent aside: Destiny FEELS like it was a small amputation from a larger, grander game. Even ignoring the potential for the 'Buy this chunk of the puzzle now, and we'll slowly sell you the rest of the pieces further down the line' all of the plot points seem to be there, with the second halves [being the explanation and exposition] having been entirely removed. It is very much like they removed the beginning / couple vertabrae from the original beast and sold it as the 'finished' product.

Who cares? The game itself should post itself on Reddit. That's all the evidence you need.
-
Nice conclusion inspector gadget! Snoo, I could have written that and I don't know a thing about Bungie. If anyone is serious about the validity of 404, you COULD start looking at the content on disc (Remember the install requirements?).
-
By breaching the hard drive and accessing Destiny content, you would be in violation of both the console warranty and most likely the EULA you signed at the start of the game.
-
Wait, what? You can do whatever you want with the content on that disk as long as you don't redistribute it.
-
I said most likely. Knowing its Activision, I wouldn't be surprised if they have a clause in the EULA that says you cannot access the Destiny content. As for the warranty violation, I was wrong. While that was true for a while, when Sony did a 180 at the last minute and gave us the ability to switch out hard drives and upgrade, removing the hard drive was removed from the list of things that would violate the warranty.

I can clearly see why you're a "former" fa. Reddit mods need to be shown proof of who you claim to be before an ama is considered legit. This can be done in a variety of ways while still remaining anonymous and it was not done at all, which is why it was deleted. You, on the other hand, are almost as big a joke as 404. Your line of reasoning has got to be one of the most inane bullshit posts Ive ever come across on this forum. You basically say since there is no actual evidence, they must be telling the truth because the answered quickly and consistently(kinda like they had this shit planned out beforehand, since every question that was answered was already written in other threads, herp derp. good detective skills) and based on your own findings, which by your previous failure, mean absolutely nothing. Holy -blam!-, stay former.
-
Thank you. I couldn't have said it better myself.. herp derp indeed.
-
Good post.
-
Thanks for taking the time to type that up. Very cool of you.
-
Honestly I'd rebuy a directors cut lol just let me keep my character

Destiny is Lost
-
I believe it. Thank you for giving us your expertise. The story is to consistent. And Destiny is well.... Not.
-
Great analysis. Thank you.
-
Agree with you 100% And thanks for the very nice analysis. never thought to check a "text" under the parameters you suggested. Will be useful. Thanks again.

Edited by PrimeDerektive: 9/30/2014 1:52:31 PMBecause everything in his narrative can be gleaned from publicly available videos, internet posts and ViDocs, you consider his compiling of these readily-available sources of information legit? YOU'RE ADMITTING HE OFFERS NO REAL INSIDER INFORMATION. This dude is a troll just parroting community concerns and speculation back at them with absolutely no evidence.
-
As someone who actually works in this industry, I'll be the first one to tell you there is no hard evidence he can actually provide. Right now he's anonymous...Still working @ Bungie...Any real evidence leak will result in his/her being fired and sued. Activision in the public eye is a "good" company, I assure you, that they've taken employees to court for less...True story. So, this is all you're really going to get, you can either believe it or not but, requiring evidence in THIS industry is like asking for a piece of the international space station to verify it's existence...Wouldn't you rather just look through the telescope?
-
regardless of whether or not you or the OP are telling any shred of truth...the fact is this developing conspiratorial storyline is far more engaging, intriguing and entertaining than the actual story of Destiny.
-
Very sad, but also indeed true.
-
Completely agree!
