Halo 2 Resolution fix or hack?

I've just recently sorted myself out a gaming PC and am having an issue with Halo 2 on Vista. It's not the fault of the game, but my LCD TV does not support 1280x720 over VGA - it is natively 1366x768. Other games such as Gears of War have the choice in the game's settings to run at the native resolution of my screen, Halo 2 Vista does not. I can run at 1280x960 and any of the other resolution offered up by the game, but these all look rather stretched and distorted compared to what I am used to. I would be happy to know if there is a patch offering more resolution choices or even a hack so I can force the game to run at my desired resolution. It doesn't bother me that it would be scaled upto 1366x768, I just want the image to be properly widescreen so I can enjoy it as I did on Xbox. Can anyone help me out?

 • After release, Microsoft saw how badly this whole thing went, and just covered it up with dirt and ran away. "Halo 2 for Vista? What's that?"

 • Oh ok, well that kind of sucks. I would have thought MS as the publisher might be able to at least sort these types ofupdates out that are more to do with the game running as good as possible for everyone. I would think Bungie would have some inflence their as well, as it is their baby after all, even if someone else has hacked away at it into a port. All I want from it really is to be able to play full screen natively at 1360x768, what with many people now gaming on their living room TV's and what not, you would think resolutions such as this would have been covered on most of todays games.

 • Well, Bungie didn't port it. Lazy Hired Gun did. They no longer support it.

 • Bungie please add more resolution options, there just arn't enough there to suit everyone currently. I have done a little work around, it's not ideal but it's much more playable this way. I've knocked my resoltuin down on Vista from 1360x768 to 1280x768 (as my TV doesn't support 720 over VGA remember), if Halo 2 had 1280x768 as an available res then it would not be an issue I suppose. Anyway, I'm playing the game windowed and not in full screen, so as the window cannot be resized manually lessening the resolution on Vista down to 1280x768 at least helps to make Halo 2 "almost" fill the screen. • Argh, typical! If onlyI hadn't have rushed to use the key code to register it online, at least then I would have been able to sell it on without much hassle. Really, I wish they would print these things such as resolutions on the back of the box. Even 1280x768 would have worked and made it more playable for me. But no, it doesn't even have that resolution as a choice, like my other games do (Crysis, Gears, UT3). I do want to keep it though and play through it, but I want to be able to get it look in proportion so I can atleast play it properly. Bungie please add some more resolutions in an update soon! 1360x768 will do nicely!

 • Unfortunatley, there is no way to force a resolution under Halo 2 Vista. More recently, a patch was released to add 1440x900 support, a res. that should've been included in the beginning anyway.

 • Well, I guess you're stuck on that resolution. Hired Gun was just to lazy. [Edited on 02.22.2008 8:08 AM PST]
