This is the longest most entitled cry baby behavior I have ever seen on the forums in the 6+ years I have been here.
I would like everyone with their head on straight to notice that the majority of criticism about game development comes from people who don't develop games.

E3 comments
1. First off the majority of the changes that you listed from the E3 footage to now are not only trivial but some are flat out opinion and bad ones at that. You seriously think the pulse rifle and the scout rifle serve the same function in gun play. One has less accuracy and less range with more spread and higher fire rate. The other is designed for slow paced accurate shots. The gun play in terms of rifles is designed to be a spectrum from Auto rife to pulse rifle and then to scout rifle in terms of range, accuracy, and spread. Which is why auto rifles are getting a range Nerf to better fit this spectrum.
hidden areas and map glitching
I challenge you to name one single video gaming community in history that is more hell bent on breaking maps than Bungie fans and halo players. I have been able to get out of and on top of every single stage in mars, Every single one, through ONE SINGLE fault in the maps geometry by exploiting the load system in destiny that is designed to draw new areas based on player location. I know what to look for and I know all the tricks of the trade for breaking maps because i love to do it. there are alot of us in this community. Bungie could literally not design an interesting map that it's community could not find a way out of.
As for " ripping content and selling it back as DLC" WHAT ON EARTH makes you think that this is Bungies call over Activisions. You are so quick to slap this studio in the face with things that clearly would have been the decision of publishing and not production. especially when it comes to hobbling maps by cutting off content. Maybe those areas are so easy to get into because the developer wanted you to know they had to turn them off? who knows. Just like how the Watch Dogs designers purposefully left in major visual upgrades they knew the community would find after they were told to hobble PC graphics and bring them more in line with the consoles.
Or maybe you missed the part where this game was written for 4 different consoles running brand new engines build from the ground up trying to run on the backbone of an also new networking model. how much time do you think they spent just getting the engine running?
++ here you are sitting with a level 27 and talking crap about things you know literally nothing about. Bungie doesn't owe you or any one else an iota of explanation. If you don't like the game then stop playing it and sell it back. This game isn't what people expected it to be because the hype train hit it and accelerated it to light speed, same thing that keeps happening over and over now a days.
This is Bungie, that name still rings as one of the best video game developers in the industry regardless of what kektaku or lolygon has to say on the matter. I have gotten my 60 bucks and more from this game, and i will get more than 35 dollars from my season pass. This game has suffered the death of a thousand paper cuts in the media because the hipster thing to do on the internet right now is trash destiny. If people would shut up and look at everything this game has done right they would see it for what it actually is.
so TL:DR
The first game in a new trilogy made by a company that is trying to reinvent it's wings after getting tired of the old ones it flew with for the past ten years. It will be rough, mistakes will be made, buts will be hurt and keyboard warriors like OP here will always try to turn the volume up on things they don't like and turn the volume down on things they did. I have enough faith in this studio to stick with what will be a great new ip.
It is nice to see a person who has enough insight in the industry to know not to assume things. You sir are a model for proper forum edict.

I have a few issues here. First is the fact that everyone is blaming activision... Activision doesn't have a total hand in what the developers cut from the game, it's more of "you must meet these requirements" but the content that is cut is up to the devs. So let's not entirely put the blame on activision here. Now, sure you may have gotten 70$ out of destiny for the PvP...i have not. I played because i was told by the devs and the official statment that i will : "Embark on an epic action adventure with rich cinematic storytelling." I did not get this AT ALL... You want to know rich cinematic storytelling? Look at MG5, it had what...2 hours of story gameplay, but it's content in terms of story, how it was executed and it's "lore" (all those tapes), was just beautiful. I spent an hour just listening to those tapes getting a better understanding of the characters i have NEVER seen in that game. A better understanding of characters who were in previous games, and characters in the current game. And the enviroment itself...i felt like i knew those characters and afterwords i actually WANTED to go save those prisoners... What did i get from destiny? "Go shoot shit."...i tried reading the grimoire...but i want this content in game if i'm going to be gaming...and the shit that is there is no were close to the level of detail lore should be at. tl;dr All in all, i didn't even get 20$ worth from destiny at this moment...and games i've played over 100 hours worth i've spent less on them than destiny.

Edited by Deathgeist: 9/29/2014 10:52:46 AMWell said, I'm getting so tired of this "WELL I GOT MY $60 WORTH SO WHO CARES IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT!" I personally have gotten my money out of it but that doesn't mean tons haven't and we shouldn't be downplaying that because if we can put fanboyism aside people like you have good and valid reasons for not being happy. It's like when people insult Bungie they are insulting their mom :/
-
i insult my mom all the time...and she insults me. We can both still take constructive criticism.
-
You sir, deserve a standing ovation. I couldn't have said this any better myself.
-
You spend 1-3 dollars on a coffee or energy drink that takes you maybe 10 min to drink. That is about 3-10 hours of enjoyment out of your $60. Iv played this game 80+ hours. Iv gotten more than enough for what iv payed for and have fun doing so. I may not be happy about them cutting finished content (if they did) but it's understandable. Staggering content for an MMO type game is common and honestly after a 10 year plan just imagine what a new player is going to come into on that 10th year. They will probably quit BECAUSE there is too much content in game. I'm enjoying the game and will continue to. Good post man.

This post has 25 likes and just about as many detracting comments. As bungie said, if about 50 percent of people like what your saying your probably doing something right.
-
Edited by Gohlar: 9/29/2014 1:51:38 AMA lot of people lie to themselves after getting ripped off. They lack the backbone to see things for what they are so they take any ridiculous angle they can to avoid the truth. You know, like using likes on some dumb ass forum post as some kind of consensus. Why do you do it?
-
The thing is, i haven't been ripped off. I got my 60 dollars and more out of this game.
-
Do you really think people gave Destiny some negativity because it's the 'cool' thing to do or whatever? People were voicing the exact same criticisms from those reviews here days before there WERE professional reviews. Generally, when multiple disparate groups of people are saying the same thing, it's because they make the same or similar observations, not because of herd mentality or some conspiracy.
-
Edited by DocSmurf: 9/29/2014 12:14:30 AM
before there WERE professional reviews.
There are no professional reviewers in games journalism. The ones that were pros are bought out and the rest are glorified bloggers, #gamergate.
-
Anyone notice how people with sheep mentality like Doctor here like to use hashtags?
-
On today's episode of ad hominem
-
Oh yes because everyone is bought out. SMH
-
Who gives a shit? Non-sequitur as far as this discussion goes. The point is that it wasn't some herd mentality, because a large number of people came to the same impression of the game independently.
-
-
Sorry, but YOU sound more entitled than OP.
-
I find it funny that people take E3 stuff to the detail that that's going to be the game competely. bungie is a game company that I support fully, if they cut some content off then I'm sure they had a good reason to. they have to make money somehow, it's a great game with a damn hard raiding system. People are really complaining just to complain at this point and it's stupid. this community is even more toxic than League's
-
i bet if bungie sold sand paper as toilet paper you would still buy and use it. and when some people finally started saying "hey wait a minute this is sand paper! and it hurts to use!!" you would yell at them and tell them its just going to the bathroom with the hard mode on
-
NEWNS wins post of the day
-
People beat the raid... on hard... in less then an hour... And WHERE was that level of ingenuity and design in the rest of the game? I mean how many times in the first levels do you take 343 Guilty Dinklage and "Defend" him as he scans something and find that it TOOO is amazing. People beat the raid... on hard... in less then an hour... And WHERE was that level of ingunuity and design in the rest of the game?
-
Because a small fraction of the players that can raid vault of glass can succesfully beat hardmode? because that really defines anything.
-
ya the raid really is not that hard... if i wanted to spend money to do the same thing over an over again id go have a kid
-
Yeah... there are free games on PC with more content and better multiplayer battles. So...
-
lol bungie fanatic is but hurt by the truth. 6+ years on the forum says it right there. you are just a hardcore fan type that cant see the flaws and lies threw the glitter on your pile of excrement all because of a brand name. i bet if bungie sold sand paper as toilit paper you would buy it, use it, and then yell at people who said "hey wait a minute... this is sand paper... and it hurts to use"
