Thorn, The controversial Gun
People dont like it because its weak. Dont like it because the bounty is hard
Its meant for the skilled, those who are worthy. Only few can see its true potential. Others might have it, but they only see it as a gun
What do you think of the Thorn?

It kinda sucks only 6 shots while some other hand canons get 11. Spend more time reloading it than firing it. Once it's upgraded I hear it gets better with the poison damage. .

Not into it at all. My vanguard hand cannon is much nicer. Less kick, more rounds, more range, and a faster reload. I'm still leveling the gun waiting to see how it's buffed. Hopefully worth my time.

I don't want the extra magazine as others are asking, that makes it so you get the bonus damage from the last bullet less often. I would like to see a reload speed buff and the DoTs refresh each bullet.

11 RepliesTotal - and I mean TOTAL garbage for PVE compared to other hand cannons. It doesn't even come CLOSE to my "The Devil You Know" in any way, shape, or form. Yes, it has a dot, but in all other ways it is sub par. Most of this coming from the fact that Devil easily has double the range from the perks I have in its weapon tree. Not to mention double the mag size! Thorn certainly needs higher impact to compensate for it's small mag size and lack of range. I don't have the DOT yet, but I could definitely see how useful it would be in PVP! I can't wait to 2 shot people with it! Honestly, I hope the buff is for only the PVE side as I could easily see this weapon becoming OP in pvp based on what I've heard. I love hand cannons and can't wait see the changes because this gun looks so incredible! Also - WTB last word.

It's easily the most recognizable gun even before launch. It looks completely badass and evil. It is easily my favorite gun and the one I knew I had to have when the game came out. I love Thorn and can't wait to see how they buff it as they recently announced in the dev. notes.

It's strong but pathetic with the stats it has, low clip size and extremely slow ass reload (don't bother saying use other equipment to boost reload) this is just purely the gun alone, I have it and it sucks so I preffer other weapons

6 RepliesEdited by MysticJon: 10/1/2014 3:44:54 PMThorn is way good, even if you stink with hand cannons. Once it's upgraded to deal that extra poison damage, it's over. If you hit with two or three shots in PvP you can walk away, the guy is gonna die from the poison.

5 RepliesAfter having leveled it up to the DoT...I'm going to be picking up a The Devil You Know unless the buff really impresses me. I'm thinking 8 round cylinder with a buff to reload and stability would do it. I think they grossly overestimated how good the DoT effect is.

1 Replyone more thing, the DoT is not strong enough. that DoT should really hurt. Also the DoTs from each bullet should stack with each bullet that hits.

I do pretty well with it in crucible, but it definitely lacks that exotic feel. The invective, the suros, the gjallahorn all feel like exotics on crucible. The thorn just doesn't. It needs to reload faster IMHO. It takes about four bullets to kill and only holds six.

3 RepliesThorn is already very impressive tool. I love carrying it and it's my go to gun. Pen and dot is so useful when agains bosses with massive shields that regen way to fast. Secondly, the producers have already talked about boosting Thorn and Bad Juju to make them more viable. And it wasn't that hard to get the 500 void kill points. It makes the gun worth collecting. Not everyone can. You need some skill, it's not just a trophy for participating.

I've been using the Thorn for a good while now and I've come to really like it. At first, I wasn't liking it all too much. A slow reload and small magazine? Those two don't go together. You need a pro and a con, not a con and a con. Regardless, the more I used it and upgraded it, the more I've come to love it. The damage over time is more useful than I had anticipated, the bullets piercing through targets is awesome, I appreciate the increased fire rate in comparison to other hand cannons (although Thorn is completely outmatched by the Last Word in that area for sure), and overall, the gun's appearance is badass. The moment I shot the Thorn and it pierced through two Fallen Vandal's heads in one bullet (killing them both obviously), and looking closer to see a kunai-looking bullet stuck to the wall just behind their corpses, was the moment I realized how much I really loved the weapon.

2 Repliesi really wanted to love Thorn but omg the Mag is a joke and expected way more damage from exotic. and the reload speed is the worst in game. thorn also needs way less kick. i am using thorn because its my favorite. id like Hard Light and a exotic Scout Rifle to go with my Galahorn rocket launcher. thats my perfect build. also a exotic Sniper rifle to complete the set.

I have it. PvE it's ok at best. PvP, with that reload speed its a masochistic death sentence if it's an agile fight and you miss. Seen Hawkmoon in action, seems to be the superior choice even with the poison effect on Thorn.

I LOVE Thorn. It's my go-to for all situations. I honestly don't mind the 6 round clip and reload speed. It's not too small like some hand cannons but it isn't absurdly large. This is great because of its perk that gives bonus damage on its last shot. Plus revolvers usually have a chamber of six bullets so it fits the definition of a revolver. The reload speed is relatively long but with reload speed increase gauntlets and chain of woe at x3 it's no issue. Stability. Well it's a hand[b]cannon[/b] you think it's just gunna vibrate in your hands? Can't wait for the buff to come in. I honestly would like them to just have the DoT to refresh on hit and stack up to 3 times. I would totally be fine with just that as a buff.
