How do YOU play your guardian?

I feel this has the potential for some great discussion so ill kick things off! I absolutley LOVE playing in a supporting role. Im not the kind of person who really runs around looking for kill after kill. Alot of the time i use Titan Defender. I know the defender can be a beast offensivley but i really enjoy knowing that i have my teams back. Ive lost count of the amount of times a random team mate of mine has come under attack from all angles and i come flying in and drop my shield upon them from above! Giving them a vital shield, morale boost and time to reload! I stay in the bubble with them because as many of you know, there aren't that many players who are willing to go toe to toe with a Titan defender INSIDE his bubble! Sometimes ill follow a group around at the rear and support them by keeping the enemy pushed behind a corner with void grenades and some fire from the SUROS regime. Giving them time to reposition and go in for the kill. I tend to focus on dropping the opponents shields for my teammates to clean up, as they tend to panic when the shield drops. So rather than try to kill one of them, ill try drop the shields on 3 of them to create a bit of chaos in the ranks. I know flanking is more of a hunters game but i have found that if the oppertunity arises ill advance along the far outside of my group in the hopes of getting a different angle on the would be aggressors. Just today a rocket was sent at my team and i popped the bubble just as the rocket smashed into the side of it!! It would have been certain death for at least two of the team! I get far more assists than kills but that really is how i play the game. There are far more skilled killers out there than me, so my job is to make their job alot easier. And i genuinly am very good at it. I love the feeling you get when you really pull someone out of a tight spot. This brings me to one other point, a rather controversial one, and im not here to start a debate on this or an argument. But i will say that at first, the random loot genarator for PvP seemed ludicrous. Awarding items to some of the lower scorers. But having been playing support for a while now i came to realise, that if the loot system was to award only the top top scorers, then playing as a true support i'd have no chance at getting the gear. So from my point of view at this time i have to applaud it. It means i can focus on my job and not worry about looking silly at the bottom of the table. I might not be the one killing you, but i can assure you, that i am the reason my team survived that little bit longer, pushed that little bit further, and bit that little bit harder. I know im blowing my own trumpet but i really am proud of my playstyle, and more importantly i really enjoy it. What about you guys? its time to big up your playstyle. Ill wager there are some of you with very interesting and really in depth strategies! lets hear it!

  • need people for PvP who have MIC's (PS3).I play mostly PvP and just the hard pve modes so I'm playing PvP 75% of the time but the problem is I'm in a clan and allied with a couple other clans but no one plays PvP regularly like I do so I end up playing by myself constantly. My proposition is if you play mostly PvP and have a MIC add me and we will run in a group. PSN: jscrazzy Comment so I know your sending a request Lvl30 hunter 27 warlock

  • "They will crumble under the weight of my shield." I am a Defender Titan. They cannot win if they cannot kill me, or whatever I am protecting. PVP: This is my control point. Not yours. My fist and shield are designed to confirm that. If you think I should move, I have a suggestion box that I keep directly under me. Inside of my shield. If you can get to it, you can make your suggestion. If you can't, respawn and try again. PVE: We will not lose, because I will not die. They told me fist fighting Knights was a bad idea. They told me fist fighting Archons was a bad idea. They told me fist fighting Phogoth was a bad idea. And then I revived them because I got in a boxing match with Death and won that too. ~Ricochet

  • Honestly, I run and gun with a Titan carrying a shotgun and a handcannon. Im not a fan of this type of play-style in any other game but this way just seems to work for me when I'm playing Control. My matches in Control normally start off by me just rushing B or sometimes even enemy spawn. Seems like a weird strategy but it works for me and I like it.

  • I kill EVERYONE on the other team. No one is safe from my warlock. I hate when my teammates steal my kills or get me killed or just get in the way. I feel like I could do so much better without them. That why I like it when its 5 on 6 or people leave my team. Sure it might be harder to win, but hey less people to get in my path to glory. I also like the feeling of havint team on my back, with me usually being the highest level on my team I feel like the youngsters look to me for help or to take charge. Anyways I charge the enemy and Ill get up close in your face or I'll just sit back and shoot your head off from a mile away with my sniper. I'm talking straight GENOCIDE when I'm in the crucible...it is pure ecstasy

I would describe my Guardian's style of play as "pyromaniac vanguard." I love to charge in and light things on fire either with a scorching slap or sticky solar grenades. As offensively as I play I also try to cover my teammates, I'm quick to rush in and revive, and I save my super to revenge myself or my teammates. Ran a strike yesterday and I was the last guardian standing after a resurrect, ran around and revived the team, and we rallied to put down Phogoth. I'm trying to use my sniper rifle more but I love the Light/Beware so much and it suits my charge in guns blazing style. I was really split between voidwalker and sunsinger for a long time, which is why neither maxed yet (so close now on sunsinger) because it didn't seem like sunsinger was offensive enough for me, but I've finally committed because it's really well balanced between offensive and support/defensive. Plus I just love lighting things on fire.

    • For my Titan I mainly use a shotgun melee strategy. Basically I get close and PPP a shell to rid the enemy of his shield the melee him with the shock fist or whatever it's called and watch his body float into the void. For my hunter I either snipe or flank and headshot everything.

    • I play a sunsinger. I save my Super for when I go down, preferably to be used as a last gasp save or if a teammate cant get to me. I then punish the foolish enemy who downed me with a cornucopia of Solar Grenades. I also use that and the slap-shield ability for normally impossible revives. Tbh, I have been known to go for daring revives anyway :D

    • I play basically a reckless agent of opportunity. PvE: I'm most usually the guy that's seeking out the 'waves' of a boss and taking them out while the rest of my teammates are focused solely on the boss. For example: The baddies that drop from the ship at the lower pad while fighting Phogoth in the Hellmouth. Every 'boot on the ground' means more potential trouble for me, and the rest of my team, so I like hitting the enemy right where it hurts most. I'm also the one picking off lower targets, such as the Legionaires on Mars, while the rest of my team pummels away at the rocket spewing Colossus. I'm the 'herd thinner' if you will :D PvP: I'm more often than not the one of very few (usually solo) capturing a point, or flanking the lines behind the enemy, while my Team are focused somewhere else. I normally play Control so I'm usually the one sneaking round back and taking the enemies flags away from them while they're all having a toe-to-toe with mine at the midline. And on the rare occasions that I play Clash (Team Deathmatch) I'm usually the one you didn't expect to meet when you decided you were going to try and flank my team xD Personally, I don't like confrontation, be it involving myself, or the rest of my team. So I like to try and eliminate a confrontation before it becomes one, at any cost. The less I have to deal with, or the less my team has to deal with, the happier everyone can be :)

    • I use a couple of different setups with my Blade Dancer. The "standard" invisibility ninja. Targeting enemies with high priority, flanking invisibly to get to protected targets or good positions despite enemy frontlines. Using invisibility to revive hard fallen team mates. Secondarily, I've got a gear set and toggle some abilities to be more of a tank. Using the Arc Blade healing power on the super over the stealth crouch. Boosting cool down on the Arcbolt grenade to spam lightning like a Sith Lord. I do sometimes switch back to my Gunslinger setup to play an overwatch style role in teams that are heavy on frontline Guardians. Chain of Woe and Gunslinger trances basically turns my Suros into a pretty deadly scout rifle.

Titan striker! Love the brawl. I just run in there, shoulder-charge + melee. I use AOE grenades to weaken people so I can stomp them with melee. Nothing better than smacking some fool with a shotgun down. You want short range? Here is my fist!

Exo blade dancer here. I have a super aggressive play style centered around getting around the map as fast as possible. I'm the type of person who would drop into a Titan bubble and Duke it out with the host just to see if I can do it. I usually only play crucible when I have my friends online because I can't stand playing with randoms. Because I'm always part of a coordinated group I can take more chances and have a lot more fun while still getting the win. I play with a hand cannon and fusion rifle although I mainly use my primary for the majority of matches. I am an objective whore so I usually am hounding all the zones and preventing the opposition from getting any ground once we have the points secured. I usually try and stay in charge of heading off enemies who are going for the objective as well as flanking enemies who are already being engaged. As well as just feeding my clan as much information as I can. When it comes to actual combat I'm a very in your face type of player. My hand cannon allows me to quickly dispatch enemies from any range and having a fusion rifle as a backup allows me to assault larger group of enemies with a higher success rate. Blink strike is a godsend for me. Between using it to supplement my firearm damage in close quarters and to finish off kills when people try and run away (please don't run away...... You will only die tired) it couldn't be used any more than it is. I die a bit more than I should for someone of my skill but that's the price you pay when you have a close quarters aggressive style in a game where EVERY ONE shotguns. At the end of the day all I care about is getting the W and having fun while doing it and I thibk I have a pretty good blend of having a fun play style I enjoy and being serious enough to make sure the other team has no chance. I just lol at the people who get a hard on for KD and will do anything to keep their KD up. But hey if people have fun playing like a pusspuss then who am I to tell them otherwise? I'll still get the win regardless.

      • I like to choose the Sunsinger on my warlock I like to avenge my fallen team mates by burning their killer. My scorch ignites enemies and most likely kills them, even when I die. When I get my super, I always save it until a big group of people kill me, so I can self-ressuruct and take them out with my explosive grenades.

      • My Hunter does both short and long range fire support. My Handcannon is pretty accurate and powerful, the range isn't the best but with the explosive rounds it can hit enemies pretty hard even from a distance. If necessary I will use Bladedancer's invisiblity to revive fallen teammates.
