Yesteryday's network Issues has caused bugged accounts

I've been on the forums reading about others suffering issues with their accounts since the network hiccup yesterday afternoon/evening (EST) and have come to the conclusion (as others have) that we all suffered some sort of item bug due to a rollback. During the rollback'd period, we had made changes to items (identifying them, depositing them, etc) and this is the cause of our issue. I'm making this post because everyone's issues are being continuously buried under rants and other posts and I have yet to see this issue catching any Bungie employee's attention. If you believe you are experiencing this issue or have any other information that might help further narrow down the cause of this bug please do so. Our centipede errors are not a network issue and WILL NOT sort themselves out on their own or through changes in our network. I've also included below some symptoms for those unsure if they are affected by this issue. Symptoms: - Experienced a rollback yesterday returning items to prior states (from identified to encrypted, back in inventory from vault) - Get Centipede errors when trying to connect after late afternoon (EST) yesterday - Your Bnet Destiny profile is failing to load while logged into your account (and sometimes when not) - Other accounts work on your console/network Please help bring this to Bungie's attention and get us an official response of acknowledgement. EDIT: My experience. In the events leading up to and following yesterday's hiccup I started out in cosmodrome and returned to the tower. In the tower I grabbed my public event reward from the post master and proceeded to deposit three ascendant shard I was awarded into my vault. I may have also turned in a bounty and replaced or with a new one, but i cannot confirm this with full confidence. Afterwards I returned to the cosmodrome (patrol) and continued doing bounties and patrol missions. I was kicked back shortly afterwards and was returned to orbit. I noticed my character had lost the experience gained during the patrol causing me to return to level 7. I loaded up patrol again and leveled myself to 8. After finishing my patrol bounty I began the first mission to kill raksis(or something like that) and was continually kicked to orbit with varying errors including centipede and monkey mostly. After a few failed attempts I decided to log out. Upon trying to reconnect I continually got centipede errors. I decided there may be some network issues and turned my console off. I tried again this morning and the problem persisted and that's when I began my own investigation.

  • Was working just fine yesterday got a few things out of the vault and dismantled them. Went and got some food. Came back to play some more and now all I get is centipede error. Today I go and check my account on bungie.net and I can't even see my characters. This is making me really upset!

  • Can't connect to Destiny servers under my profile. Error code: centipede. However, other profiles on my XBox 360 have no problem accessing servers and playing Destiny. Also, have no trouble playing other Live games on console. Doesn't sound like a problem on my end. This all started yesterday afternoon around the time the supposed patch happened. Bungie, can you give us some feedback on this problem? Are you working on it?

    I can't get past the initial screen, can't even get to the character selection screen for going on 30 hours now. Been receiving the centipede error the whole time and a marionberrh error one time. This really sucks. All I wanted to do with my day off was play Destiny and I can't. I have 8 friends online, 6 playing Destiny, and I'm stuck here can't even look at my character on the mobile app. Please help.

    Yes, this is exactly what I believe happened to me as I can no longer log into my account (error code centipede). but this was my exchange of unusual events that led up to the hiccups. I returned from a mission with 2 Blue engrams to identify. I went to the cryptarch and as I was identifying the 2nd item, I got disconnected due to the network hiccup. When I logged back on, both of the engrams were back in my inventory and hadn't been identified. So I went back to the cryptarch to re identify them, I get 2 level 17 items, the network hiccuped again and I was kicked out. I log back on a 3rd time and the items are back to being engrams again. I go to the cryptarch a 4th time to identify them and this time I get 2 level 20 items. I was DC'd a few more times after this, but now the two items stayed as level 20 items for good. During the time frame where the engrams went back and forth between being items and engrams had to most likely be where the issue arose. There was some loss of data or roll back that reverted the changes and is ultimately causing the errors we are seeing now. If I recall correctly this was sometime around/after 6pm EST. Around 11pm I shut of my Xbox during a Crucible match as I had to take an important phone call, and when I tried to log back in I couldnt get to the character screen. The same error has persisted ever since then. Just my thoughts on all this. Really wish I could play the game I waited 2 weeks after the release to buy to avoid this exact scenario...

  • My friend just bought a One today to play and he's hitting the stupid centipede error already upon logging in! Please fix this.

  • This is the exactly what happened to my account. While the server was up I was taking things out of the bank and it kicked me during that after that that my profile has been bugged and I haven't been able to play or even see my characters on bungie.net or in game. Please resolve this as soon as you can bungie

  • Exact same thing going on with me. Cant play on any different Xbox one or Wifi. Fix this quick.

    At 4:25 PM CST on 9/25 it kicked me off Destiny from xbox live 360. I tried to log in multiple times since it does not connect and simply states to check your network. My network is fine I've tested many other games and they all function normally. I had zero issues with this game until this point, but this will be greatly changing my opion of Destiny and Bungie. I've tried reinstalling, resetting my router and many other suggestions and nothing has worked. More Information My profile says this "Unable to load Destiny account. Please try again later." I'm also able to log into a different account and play just fine. Experienced a rollback yesterday returning items to prior states (from identified to encrypted, back in inventory from vault) This occured around 2-4 PM CST. I figured I just lagged out and it didnt save what I did. I've concluded from this post that my account is in fact bugged and it looks very unlikely to ever be corrected.

    • Ok THANKYOU FINALLY SOMEONE HAS BROUGHT THIS TO THEIR ATTENTION in sorry bungie for the -blam!-ers messing with your servers, but for the community the problems you can solve please do. I've been rolled back a whole level and a half losing my upgraded armor 4 weapons and a ship, along with completed queens bounties I am so pissed right now its unbelievable, but thankfully someone else has already brought it to your attention.

    • i get kicked out of pvp in the middle of a game (especially when i'm doing well). This did not happen till today and i believe it's that patch which fked everything up.

    • Just had the Cryptarch decript an engram to a Strange Coin, walked over to the Bounty to turn in a bounty, while talking to Xander the bounty tracker, got the line on the bottom of the screen saying "Contacting Destiny Servers." When I came back in, had to go back to the Cryptarch to decode the same Engram, this time got a worthless cloak!! This has happened a few times now, but the worst so far. Please fix this Bungie! My internet connection is just fine by the way. #Bungie #Help #BungieHelp #NetworkProblems

Reading the news update today was a little irritating since I've been trying to get help on the forums since yesterday and this topic hasn't been acknowledged aside from the links to the centipede help article which has nothing to do with this error which would be more appropriately named #helminth or #tapeworm.

        • Same exact issue... game worked fine until yesterday when server came down. Have not been able to log in since, cannot make a new character, NOTHING. I press 'x' to play destiny, it verifies content and tries to load to character screen... Then Centipede error everytime. Just bought Destiny Ps4 package to play this damn game, and it completely stops working 2 days later. SICK!

        • Same problem here. Logged in on Friday morning (PST) and installed the update. Played a couple hours and got a rare ship and a couple of bounties turned in. I then got kicked from patrolling Venus all the way to the sign-in screen. When I logged back in I was missing the rare ship and the bounties had gone back to my inventory, complete but not turned in. After that I played 'til about 5pm (PST) and logged out normally. I can't log in again since 8pm last night due to the centipede error after the "PRESS X TO START" text on my PS4. Would be great if we could get some feedback on the status of this issue. I know for a fact that it is not my internet connection. I would appreciate if Bungie would look into this :)

        • I posted this to another topic as well. I know this is redundant because of the ample other topics for the same issue but I figured I would throw mine out there too. I have had Destiny since day one and it has worked fine. I have one level 24 Titan and up until yesterday was playing with minimal issues. There was the occasional drop but nothing I couldn't deal with. I started to play around 0300 hours yesterday (09/25/14) and continued to play off and on through out the morning. At around 1400 hours I got on again and the game took longer to load but still loaded up. I made it from the Venus to the Tower, I picked up the message from the postmaster and went to the bounty board. I walked over to the Crypto and changed the two Engrams I had. Then I was dropped. I tried once more made it through the same thing but was dropped right after the bounty collection. I now can't get on at all. I can't even make it to the character selection screen. I have received a multitude of error messages from centipede, canary monkey, and bee. I looked over the forums and tried all the networking troubleshooting on my end. I now get nothing but Centipede. After reading the forums and saw some players were complaining about not being able to access their information from mobile applications, so I also tried mine. The character picture never comes up and when I try to select the Legend icon or the Grimoire icon it states " Still loading.....It's taking a while to load all your data. Please, try again in a few seconds" but never changes. When i go to the Bungie account page, it tells me "Unable to load Destiny account. Please try again later." My NAT type on my PS4 has been a consistent 2 with plenty of speed. No other game or application is having any issues. My network is running fine and Destiny has been fine until 09/25. I hope this gives some insight into my issues and helps with a correction. I paid for the game and would like to play it without losing all of my progress. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

        • yea, videos of people burning, microwaving or whatever other creative ways folks will come up with to destroy their copies of destiny will go viral on monday if this doesn't get resolved.. i mean this is a bit much.. and worst part is, we're really not a priority.. theirs a big number of people residing in TX that hasn't played the game in 6 days or not at all :-/ sucks to not know when to be able to play a game you paid for, and then once you get back to it are already facing the high possibility of having lost items/bounties.. fanf****ngtastic..

          I lost an Exotic bounty (for the fusion rifle) and have a bounty i completed which i cannot turn in (Primus sha'aull) been trying to the in touch with bungie for 24 hours now... so far no response what so ever leading me to believe bungie simply doesn't give a flying -blam!-. Tossing my copy of destiny in the trash monday. Or turn it into a coaster.

          same here Update: Now i am getting a message "the use of user generated content with this game is not allowed with your account" when trying to log in, before getting the centipede Error.

        • I do believe you are correct my friend. I as well have been reading through this forum since yesterday, and am blown away by how many people will post their own thread about "their" problem, as oppose to taking a second to check some of the threads, at least to see if anything sounds remotely similar to ones own issue.. Why I didn't post anything similar? figured you'd come around with a better way of putting it ;-) I'm also trying to research if only people's characters that were logged in at the time of the "hotmess" patch are locked out, as it seems their other characters and new characters created are able to get online and play without any issues.. but I'm not quite ready yet to throw away the time I've invested in this game, so simply chuckin it up as "character loss" won't happen here.. Not gonna pay $60, spend 2 weeks playing, and simply have that erased by the creators of the game, or mayb the lizard group.. quite frankly don't care how.. just want this resolved asap.. WHAT A MESS!!!

          Just before a server disconnect (both got Baboon code?) while playing with a friend in a fire team, I had, and preformed, a weapon upgrade. When we both re logged back in the weapon upgrade kept reappearing and then for the first time ever I got the centipede error code. This persisted all night. Reset my internet cable box etc to no avail. Interesting what your saying about in game changes and the fact the weapon upgrade kept reoccurring.
