This is not about cave farm tactics.
I mainly play patrol clearing enemies and doing public events with randoms so I now have even less chance of engrams dropping from enemies?
This was already a horrible droprate/quality to begin with so I might as well give up, right?

Edited by Longestfellow: 9/26/2014 8:23:50 PMIve actually been getting more legendary engrams from just running around doing events and bounties. RNG gonna RNG.

As far as dev notes say, engram drop rates only decrease in darkness zones after a hard wipe.

9 RepliesWhenever we participate in public events, engrams drop like rain. Late last night, they were practically back to back on the moon. Mostly blues & greens, but we got a few ascendants & motes, too. The more patrols you do, the better the drops. Patrols rank up, thanks to the grimoire cards.

1 ReplyI just did a mission on Mars and some patrols and got about 3 blues and 8 greens, although there is no point to greens now!

I don't believe they changed the drop rate throughout, just after a Fireteam wipe for a certain amount of time. I did patrol yesterday on Cosmodrone and got a legendary engram drop from a random level 2, along with countless (useless) green items, and a blue engram.

1 ReplyI don't even know. The loot system is so bad in Destiny. It really needs to be fixed

3 RepliesFalse: the low drop was a short term effect of the hard wipe for the hot fix. Drop rates are back to normal. I did 30 minutes of patrol on the moon and got 6 greens and 2 blues. Drop rates in strikes and difficult missions should also be improved. I still saw more during patrol, but did get 2 blues from a strike and 6 greens.
