What a cluster-blam!-! Bungie you guys really are idiots!
EDIT: To all the idiots claiming this isn't an MMO keep drinking the kool-aid. This is most certainly a subgenre of the MMO variety. MMOFPS is the exact term. From the repetitive grindy quests to the random loot to the god damned raiding major components are pulled from the MMO genre.
2nd Edit: Guess there is a new loot cave. For those that are not quitting the game enjoy: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wfxf7V_cljA&feature=youtu.be

3 RepliesSeriously. They even discouraged it by deleting the loot cave. Ok, so you want us to play as intended? By repeating the same 5 strikes 100 times over?
-
Honestly don't care about the loot cave or the people who used it as a means of progression. The real problem was doing strikes or other activities and getting little to nothing for them in comparison. If people want to shoot at a hole for hours more power to them. However I don't find that fun or at all an enriched and worthwhile use of my free time. I wanna be able to do a strike and be rewarded for my time in a meaningful manner. The problem being that "shooting at a hole" was infinitely more rewarding for getting better gear. So much so that playing strikes was worthless as often you'd get something barely even useful. I dunno if changing farming was the right way to go about it but making strikes and other game activities viable alternatives is definitely a plus. In the end it's all farming but players should have choices for how they want to go about it and all be viable means of progression. This being an mmo or not is irrelevant, if you're setting up a game of gear progression with both open world areas and linear missions in which to do so, you have to cater to both crowds if you wanna keep them playing. Otherwise you make one or the other obsolete and really chase off some of the fans who might of played for that particular style.

People don't think it's an MMO because they think of an instance of a zone as a server. No one thinks about how thousands of players are all connected at once on a mega server, hence fulfilling the "Massive" requirement of the phrase "MMO".

2 RepliesSo this is the best place to piss off the people who hate farmers: You can farm on the first moon mission (level 20 mode is best): the dark beyond. Go to the cutscene where you find the dead guardian and then all those thralls, a couple acolytes, and a yellow-class knight, kill everything except the knight and then let it kill you. After that you will respawn and then you can do it all again! Perks of this include: -short amount of time compared to strikes and the raid (up to 30 engrams an hour) -lots of loot to disassemble for parts -occasional exotics (got about 5 in a week) -high glimmer boost -best place for overcharge and hive killing bounties -STRANGE COINS! Using this method I got hawkmoon the last word, and many other good loots so enjoy!
-
You don't farm for gear in other MMOs by killing low level enemies when you're a high level. -blam!- outta here.
-
You dont diserve the levels if you got them in the loot cave you -blam!-ers

'Sir... I see you have some animals for sale.' 'I do. Do you like my horses?' 'Horses... Those are camels.' 'Camels? No sir... You are mistaken! I am selling horses!' 'Those are camels! See the face, hoof, hump on the back! That's a camel!' 'Pfft... You say camel, I say horse! It's a matter of opinion! Don't you tell me my horse is a camel!' Bungie... It's an mmo/fps... With all the grind of diablo and the fun of wow rep grinds. It's ok though... For all the issues I'm enjoying your game...

Agreed

They aren't against farming. They were just forced to answer the TIDAL WAVE of complaints in hopes of pacifying all the fanboys and children who blew this up to such a big deal. They said in the patch notes they are against "Shooting at a hole for hours". There are many more farming spots that you can use (Chief example the Venus clearing) that I can't see them nerfing. If they did then you can say they flat out hate farming.
-
They destroyed the most fun aspect of the game. Without the choice to play you want the game has become somewhat blend
-
Funny as destiny is not a mmo, massive is they word missing, 16ppl per server aint massive dude, i think devs say shared world lol, lazy ass devs
-
It baffled many. I kinda just shrugged when I heard about it.
-
U can farm all I want. I'm doing it now for mats.

Edited by ZombiePuncher: 9/27/2014 6:19:14 PMI don't really agree with destiny being considered an mmo. I agree that there are quite a few people playing at the same time, but I think the max amount of people in one instance is 16 and that's in the tower. Other than that the most I've seen in one area is 6. So I would categorize this game as a online fps there's nothing I would consider massively multiplayer about it. Compared to dcuo, final fantasy online or even defiance this game is small. Just my two cents. Also by your definition boarderlands 2 would most definitely be an mmo because you have grinding and raids.

These caves make me laugh. You guys are such scrubs for whining about an exploited spawn system being taken out.
-
-
I dont think bungie has a problem with farming, its just not how the game was meant to be played.
-
Not an MMO but whatever
-
I don't think even mmos want to to stay in one spot and not do anything else. Yes farm but farm playing the game as it is meant to.
-
2 RepliesBungie specifically said it is a shared world shooter, not an MMO. Now you may think that's similar to it but since they aren't making an MMO that also means they don't have to abide by the same rules.
-
1 ReplyIf you want to farm, go play the harvest moon franchise ;)
-
Destiny is not an MMO. Still, I agree with the rest.

1 ReplyBungie...you guys just sealed the coffin shut with this patch...telling me how I should play your extremely shallow game shows you think youve accomplished a great milestole in gaming like WoW has..But in reality this is a two week repetative shooter with nothing to offer besides polished gunplay. So not only did you just nail this coffin shut by gimping the loot cave..you sealed it water tight with Gorrila glue by taking away shards...I lost interest when I played part of the Queens Wrath quest and discovered the mission has been reused with added with lv24 mobs..so now we have bullet sponge mobs to go along with bullet sponge bosses that drop puck all...and top that shit off with another faction grind...Meh RiP Destiny.. two weeks into a ten year journey and already KILLED off by incompetent developers...

Edited by xcrunr1647: 9/27/2014 1:39:18 AMYou, sir, are a moron. Look up the definition of "MMO" and then get back to me. Edit: autocorrect -_-

Edited by SILKtrocity: 9/27/2014 1:34:50 AMSWEET. thanks for posting that video on BUNGIE'S FORUM. Look forward to them patching this one very soon.

1 ReplyBungie are total corporate idiots for nerfing farming in an mmo. Actually they haven't nerfed farming because the whole game is a farm. What they have done is dictate how players must play the game. They would rather you play through the same crap mission over and over again rather than shoot at the same cave over and over. Both are crap things to do. What a complete and utter farce!
