If they plan on charging us for dlc for the next x amount of years, they must be completely insane. Don't do it they're ripping us all off. If the dlc was truly free, they would've included it into the vanilla version of the game. They plan on charging players HUNDREDS of dollars to get the "full destiny experience". Don't buy anything extra at all. I already made the mistake of buying the mission pass when I first got the game. I regret it 100%. We need a solid micro transaction boycott against Activi$ion.
Edit: OK maybe these aren't micro transactions, but still I believe my point stands. The game is unfinished and it's entirely unfair to charge us so much to get the rest of the game. It's like they're finding loop holes to increase the price of the game without deviating from any solid price negotiations they have with Microsoft and Sony. It's sickening!
Edit2: it's not about paying for DLC. Extra content is a good thing and I support it, but what they're selling us is not extra content. This is content that was already finished at release, (possibly months before release). They claimed many things about this game that just simply aren't true. The story mode is finished, but they took half of it out to sell to us later. Open world exploration is an exaggeration. Interacting with other players is hardly true, and other things, like teammates dropping in from their ship when they joined your game like in the old demo videos, were all taken out. It all feels like a scam. That's what the issue is. We were told one thing, when in reality, we got something different. Its not right.
Edit3: also I understand a boycott will not work. The point is to send a message. Thank you for all the feedback its comforting to know I'm not the only one who feels this way. Also removed boycott from title due to it being misleading.
Edit4: I had posted this in reply to someone else's post, but I will post it in the OP so you all can get another point I'm trying to relay to you: So your telling me you can see yourself playing the game as is for the next couple years? Couple months? You'd have washed this game out within a couple of days I promise you. If this game truly took 5 years to make, I expect more than just a couple days worth of playing. They advertise the game as something of a masterpiece, something to out do halo, then they held back all of that content they already showed us to sell to us later so they can make more money. This is the point I'm trying to make, and everyone is in denial about it. Why is it so hard to accept? The audience they're trying to reach out to is teenagers. People who don't care about what they spend their money on, and are easily influenced. That's why call of duty makes money every year! It takes them one year to put a game out, but theystill insist on charging $60 for it, along with some season pass that probably costs about $40. They're running the same trick with destiny. I bought this game to enjoy it for a long time. I work about 9-10 hours a day, so I don't have much time to play games, but I've already managed to get to level 22, and I'm almost done with the story. The content is extremely underwhelming, and they expect us to pay to get the rest of it. I feel double crossed, and I'm sure others feel the same way. (Also no offense to teenagers not saying you don't know how to manage your money or anything lol!)
Edit5: a post by user Aerikx stating that there is locked content on disk that players are glitching into. Only proving how wrong this really is.
RAS Bunker, Kings Watch (fully populated by NPCs), Seraphim Vault.
Zones: Every planet was annouced to have 8 to 11 zones that would be explorable.
Data-mines have shown Old Chicago to indeed exist.
And of course the numbers are speculation.
I took the retail cost and split the cost apart across the various gameplay modes.
The goal was to give each piece of content a value/price. Then look at the DLC cost & the content it unlocks/adds-on comparison to the retail release content.
By slapping a price onto the disc locked content you can "gauge" a pricepoint.
Then you can factor the price/cost of all the content that was pulled & locked in order to be resold as DLC.
That said my prices could easily be wrong. Destiny content could come out in 4.99 packs, possibly free(unlikely).
However the only DLC I can base a price off of is The Dark Below & The House of Wolves.
So at this point in time the safest assumption is that they will be the standard price & content amount that future Destiny DLC will be.
They will most certainly NOT be the only DLC this game gets.
As for the monthly DLC plan I stated.
Well...I doubt both DLC packs will come out at the same time.
We will get one...once a month. Thats how they plan to keep players interested with "new" content.
When they annouce The House of Wolves DLC release date. I fully expect them to annouce another pack of DLC that will have a release date set in the very next month.
