What's with the rusty old cars?
Why would there be present day cars in a world that is possibly eons into the future. Surly they would have been rusted beyond recognition? Are we only in the near future?h

Your asking the wrong question. Its not "whats with all the rusted cars?", it should be why does it look like the humans/Exos/and Awoken alike where running to the ship yards and then a nuke goes off. Look around, people are still in the cars, or just setting at desks, or in waiting rooms like their day was going going on as normal.

Golden Age tech doesn't look all that advanced: The cars. The first auto rifle you find looks only slightly futuristic, having similarities to modern weapons. The colony ship is a huge rocket with several slightly futuristic space shuttles attached to it. There is a crashed jet that looks exactly like the F-16 and there are helicopters that look like Blackhawks. Maybe the technology itself was advanced, but the trend was to keep the appearance classic? I'm not a supporter of the theory that the Traveler is evil, but there IS definitely more going on than meets the eye, and only time will reveal the answer to these mysteries.

Yeah, this doesn't make sense. The buildings also don't look like they've been abandoned for hundreds of years. There are some abndoned factories in my home town that are in worse shape, and they closed in the 80's.

Everyone drives classic cars in the future, causing all major car companies to go out of business. With no new cars on the market, even more classic cars are returned to circulation. Then there was darkness.

Think it was 200 years before the darkness came. So 200 years of mans prosperity and an age of technology... And we still have cars. Good point..
