Stop shoving PvP down my throat, please

75% of all the legendaries are gated behind pvp rep / crucible marks Almost all of the exotic bounties have difficult pvp steps Thorn – Exotic Handgun -- Kill Guardians in the Crucible using void damage. Deaths slow your progress greatly! Bad Juju – Exotic Pulse Rifle -- Fight in the Crucible and obtain 10,000 points and have a kill to death ratio above 1-1 Invective – Shotgun -- Fight in the Crucible and achieve 25 more kills than deaths. Fate of All Fools – Exotic Scout Rifle -- Multiple PvP steps Every special event that has occurred is occurring or is scheduled to occur is pvp oriented Salvage - PvP Combined Arms - PvP Queen's Wrath - PvP/PvE Iron Banner - PvP I thought Queen's bounty was going to be a pure pve event, but alas 3 out of the 4 bounties for today are, you guessed it, pvp bounties. Why the extreme bias in favor of pvp when this game was touted as a shared world, rpg style loot, exploration heavy, "play your way" kind of game? If you're going to have all these pvp events and do nothing for the pvers you're cutting yourselves off at the knees, and the description of the game offered by Bungie feels misleading. Possible solutions: Give bounties dual objectives, 1 that's pvp centric and 1 that's pve centric and allow the player to choose which way to finish the bounties. Open up all of the vendors to both currencies. I understand that recycling PvP which kind of creates its own content is easier than creating something new for PvE, but I'd be happy even with a recycled content PvE event mixed in with all of the PvP events. Queen event is the best attempt at that thus far, but all of the other events are purely focused on PvP and it just feels as though the PvE is being jilted.

  • I do well in PvP, even tho I always carry my team, it rages me to the point where I feel like PvP should not exist lol I'm good but I hate it, the logic lol I never have problems doing PvP bounties, but I simply dislike PvP in Destiny only

  • Just don't do PVP and stick to PVE-only content. That's what i'm doing and I'm never finding myself getting bored cause I have nothing to do. Players who only do PVP must be saying the same thing to themselves: "Stop shoving PVE down my throat, please. I only do PVP and I don't want to have to do PVE content just to get gear through PVE related missions, strikes and raids." Destiny is a huge game and Bungie managed to balance both PVE and PVP content quite well. IMHO, someone that tries to do all PVE and PVP content is just too damn hardcore, and those kind of players are rare. Most of us have a life. ^_-

        • Nothing in the pve game should ever require you to pvp For example, exotic bounties, if there are ANY steps that make you do pve and then pvp, then you done -blam!-ed it up. I only hope I can get the queens rep to level 3 doing only pve bounties. Otherwise, again, bungie, you done -blam!-ed it up. Not everyone likes pvp. I especially hate doing it on consoles.

        • I 100% agree with you. I've even send a similar comment to the mail sack. This game is very PVP bias when is come to gear and leveling. Those of us that don't like PVP are being left out of some really good stuff. The vanguard armor is our only choice and at lease for the Hunters it's pretty stupid looking. Since the shader lady never rotates her stock and pvp again is pretty much the only place to find shaders PVE players all end up looking the same. That unless you have lotto style luck and get a shader during a strike or from the cryptark thief.

        • How to get double the Bounties every day (Bounty Glitch) seems that many people don't know about this yet. I am all for people using exploits/glitches to their gain, and I think everyone should know about them. So, here is how you do it: 1. Be playing the game at the time that new bounties arrive (2 AM PST / 5 AM EST). 2. Finish those Bounties, then turn them in. 3. Turn off your console completely. 4. Start up the game again. The Bounties will be back.

        • I agree about the exotic weapons. The PVP bits should be removed AND seperate PVP bounties for the same guns should be made. So you could choose not to play PVP to get the weapons OR you could get them via pure PVP. Imo, would be the best sollution.

        • I ran through the steps of an exotic weapon bounty thinking it was a PvE thing. When I completed it, it revealed that Part 2 was PvP. I wasn't happy, but I simply discarded the quest in spite of the work I had already put in. I then received ANOTHER exotic weapon bounty that appeared to be a single part with no mention of further steps. When I completed it, another new bounty popped up - CRUCIBLE ONLY. I was enjoying mostly soloing the game in spite of the grind at times and thought I was doing all right. I played strikes with other people and it even had me searching for a clan to join - something I have never done in YEARS of gaming. Destiny inspired me to seek out other people - strangers, that is - to play with cooperatively. Any co-op game I have played in the past I have played exclusively with people I knew outside the game because I want to play with my friends, not necessarily use a game to make friends (not opposed to it, I'm just picky about who I call friend and it's tough to be selective in a game-based environment). Destiny has made me interested in finding Destiny players, finding friends and teammates among Destiny players, and playing with people all the time. However, there is one thing I do not enjoy, something I consider to be the most obnoxious of all forms of multiplayer gaming, and that is PvP. I'm way too old to put up with the immature fratboy behaviour and obnoxious 12 year olds who camp out to prove their (lack of) manhood by one shotting and harassing new players rather than helping. I have played PvP in many different types of games - MMOs, arenas, and so on - and have pretty much wound up despising it universally. So, when I put in an enormous amount of time on a couple of quests that didn't WARN ME in advance that I was going to have to go through some BS PvP gateway, I was furious. I STILL AM. Having this odious gameplay mode crammed down my throat by hiding 75% of the equipment behind it is bad enough. To then WASTE my effing time by having me jump through hoops and then snatching the prize away at the end demonstrates a contempt for anyone who wants to play co-operatively and not competitively with other people. We aren't all MLG wannabes, and having fun in competitive multiplayer takes a particular kind of gamer. Unfortunately, the subset of gamers who reflect poorly on the gaming community in the public eye are largely from this gamer subset - the uber-competitive, misogynistic, inflexible homophobes that make up a small percentage of real gamers but are the most prominently displayed example in the public eye and ruin things for everyone. These are the kind of people I've encountered for years that have and always will turn me off any forced competitive multiplayer. I seriously considered simply quitting the game when I received this "big reveal", but I have worked myself up to level 27 and, as I said, would really like to play co-op with people because it can be damn fun. But I can tell you one thing, from now on I will be looking up any bounties or quests on the web before I embark on them and discover I have to go be shot in the face by 9-year-old campers in order to unlock what I should be able to do through other means. TL;DR: Make a game that doesn't depend on the Crucible, Bungie. You want that component, fine but I agree with the OP: STOP SHOVING GARBAGE DOWN MY THROAT.

          • Why would the open the Crucible gear up to Vanguard marks? That's the whole point of having the different marks. You don't have to play multiplayer, and you can still buy exotic gear from the Agent of the Nine with strange coins. There you go, I fixed your problem.

Agreed. Edit: the one caveat here is that the PvPers are required to raid in order to hit level 30. I still agree with you, I just think that's a noteworthy point to be made.

            • Just get a friend to boost you. Killtrading in a corner works like a charm. Good thing, forced pvp is not the only bad design choice Bungie made.

            • It's ironic that a game that's entire mythos is based around its players pushing back the darkness choses to offer more rewards to players who want to kick each other's nuts in than those who actually fight said darkness. When the game mechanics are so polarizing(pve/pvp) and in which gear is mandatory to level your character to experience content, you would think the gear would be purchased evenly by both types of player. Especially when leveling means dick all to pvp players and everything to pve players.

Personally I also like the PvP part, but I don't do particular well (like around 50% of the other players). So I would be pissed If I had to get a high KDR to unlock a Legendary or Exotic.

False. You're only playing half the game. The only way games stay alive is pvp. People didn't keep playing halo 1 for years because assault on the control room rocked, it was LAN parties. And you bought a game made by activision, obviously known for their exhaustive campaign in the CoD titles. C'mon man.

                • I'm a little torn. It shouldn't be required, but at the same time, PVP is indeed a big part of what the Destiny experience is. (Speaking about Bungie) They put a ton of time and money and love and energy into PVP, so I don't fault them for wanting people to play it. In their dream, everyone loves both, because THEY love both. I understand that. But it simply isn't the case. The PVP isn't nearly as amazing as Halo was in this game, for a plethora of reasons. It's barely fun, honestly. I'm also torn because they aren't really MAKING anyone do PVP. You don't HAVE to get that bounty to play the game. That weapon is an option. But, knowing players like I do, we ALL want to 100% every game we play. I am the same way, so to us, it feels like we DO have to get it, even though we really don't. That's why I'm torn about it.

                • I agree if bungie wanted to just get a lot of people to play their game like call of duty or battlefield they should of just handover all of the game develipment to activision and not just had them help. I have follow bungie through all of their halo gamems and it seams they forgot what players want in games sence the gave up halo. don't get me wrong the invironment is cool but that isn't just what makes a great game. wake up bungie before you loose us all together.

                • This whole forced PVP sucks and makes people resort to boosting. Just get 2 friends together and go to rumble. Find a corner of the map to constantly run some location and shoot each other in the head. You can clear these st00pid bounties in a couple of hours that way but it ruins the game for people who actually enjoy PVP. They should make every bounty have 2 options like kill 200 Fallen with head shots or 20 guardians in PVP where each crucible headshot earns you 10 fallen worth of progress. This should be a pretty easy thing to code.

                  • Just adding my agreement. Not hugely interested in PVP. Dual bounty options or combining marks is a great idea. Does any PVPer really want me dicking around trying to get 25 headshot kills with a Scout Rifle on their team in Crucible so I can get my pretty Purple Armor shader?

I agree with you on the subject of the Queen's bounties. We already know there are going to be Iron Banner bounties, as there were in the beta. Why does the Queen have to give those as well? In fact, it makes no sense for her to be interested in the Crucible at all, considered according to the lore it's more of a training arena for Guardians than anything. Shax treats it like an arena, but it's meant to test Guardians in battle. Why would the Queen of the Reef, who cares so little about the Tower, the Traveler, or anything else on Earth... care about being represented in a training arena? Bah, who am I kidding? We're talking about the same people who thought it would be a good idea to have her give you missions to kill things that are already dead before you ever even meet her. "Old scores" indeed...

                      • My exotic bounty made me kill Phogoth, which isn't a big deal. Then it made me kill 500 hive. Still not a big deal. Now I have to kill 500 people in PvP with void weapons and every time I die, I loose value to the bounty.
