75% of all the legendaries are gated behind pvp rep / crucible marks
Almost all of the exotic bounties have difficult pvp steps
Thorn – Exotic Handgun -- Kill Guardians in the Crucible using void damage. Deaths slow your progress greatly!
Bad Juju – Exotic Pulse Rifle -- Fight in the Crucible and obtain 10,000 points and have a kill to death ratio above 1-1
Invective – Shotgun -- Fight in the Crucible and achieve 25 more kills than deaths.
Fate of All Fools – Exotic Scout Rifle -- Multiple PvP steps
Every special event that has occurred is occurring or is scheduled to occur is pvp oriented
Salvage - PvP
Combined Arms - PvP
Queen's Wrath - PvP/PvE
Iron Banner - PvP
I thought Queen's bounty was going to be a pure pve event, but alas 3 out of the 4 bounties for today are, you guessed it, pvp bounties.
Why the extreme bias in favor of pvp when this game was touted as a shared world, rpg style loot, exploration heavy, "play your way" kind of game?
If you're going to have all these pvp events and do nothing for the pvers you're cutting yourselves off at the knees, and the description of the game offered by Bungie feels misleading.
Possible solutions:
Give bounties dual objectives, 1 that's pvp centric and 1 that's pve centric and allow the player to choose which way to finish the bounties.
Open up all of the vendors to both currencies.
I understand that recycling PvP which kind of creates its own content is easier than creating something new for PvE, but I'd be happy even with a recycled content PvE event mixed in with all of the PvP events. Queen event is the best attempt at that thus far, but all of the other events are purely focused on PvP and it just feels as though the PvE is being jilted.

The only end game content out there right now is the raid, and PvP.

2 RepliesEdited by junkguns: 9/26/2014 6:31:41 PMWhat I want to see is some of that survival wave combat from odst and halo 4. I can't remember what they called it, can anyone help me out? I think that would be a good balance for pve players.

There are an equal number of pvp and pve bounties everyday... not sure why you are complaining. Also the exotic bounties have parts that are pvp and parts that are pve. They want you to experience all that destiny has to offer.

Edited by Failsafe: 9/26/2014 6:49:08 PMlooking at the post...looks like a lot of people are horrible at pvp...got my incentive shotgun 25+ kd in 2 games...you want an exotic, you have to earn it by being skilled, get over it ps. this account is not linked, not trolling

"Why can't I just press A to awesome?"

IT IS A PART OF THE GAME!! Clearly an essential part of the game....

And yet another complaining baby who hasn't played the game : P

9 RepliesI also agree being forced to do PvP for an exotic not to mention what you are forced to do to get the exotic in PvP. PLUS I can NOT play at all on weekends so I can NOT talk to Xur and buy exotics. So I can NOT get exotics at all unless they actually drop in VoG. Or I guess I'll just hate to be screwed both ways out of a exotic. Yeah I guess I did get one at random from a legendary engram. But it's a damn heavy weapon. I could care less about that. I have a legendary rocket launcher I like better anyway! I want to actually get one I can chose like every1 else!

Bungie have always said from the games inception. That all game modes and types, were essential to complete this game. I prefer pvp but still need to patrol and do strikes for gear upgrades.

14 RepliesI didn't read all the comments below. But the real funny thing in this argument is. If you aren't playing pvp, why do you need those weapons? or Faction Gear. They aren't going to do much for you in PvE anyway. And the way PvP is setup its just cosmetic, minus upgrades as far as reloading and shooting speed. You can get to 30 without Faction Gear.. just go for raid gear. You don't need to play pvp in this game. There are just different rewards for pvp... Not to mention. It doesn't require THAT much skill in pve. Its simple, shoot bad guys, get the ammo, reload keep shooting, and you can beat every mission in the game. Therefore, rewarding you for something like that seems a bit lame. Anyone can stand outside a cave and level up and get gear, howerver, it takes skill to be good at PVP. When you finally are good enough to get good at pvp, then you can earn the faction gear. Simple as that.. Don't play pvp. We aren't going to be mad you aren't there. And opening up all the vendors to both currencies is stupid.
No one plays a game strictly for PvE. Go play WoW if you want that (side note: I play wow...for that reason)
4 RepliesThat, ladies and gents, is why Closing Time will be my exotic weapon (Because I can still get the Chance or something else that is good from PvE)
-
I agree except the opposite. I had to do 25 strikes! Strikes are fun once or twice but I'd prefer to PVP but was 'required' play PVE. You're not required to do anything it's your choice if you think the exotic is worth it. I agree adding the skill element to some of them may make it near impossible for some people. But exotic bounties from what I read require both PVE and PVP aspects so it's up to you to decide if it's worth it

5 RepliesEdited by RedMesaOne: 9/25/2014 6:10:12 PMI agree to some extent. Not everyone who is playing Destiny enjoys PvP. May it be a personal preference or that some of us are just not that good at it. In fact, some of us are downright terrible, leaving the general experience to be no fun at all. To have ALL end game weapons that cater more towards PvE content require PvP objectives to unlock really isn't ideal for these types of players. Now being a fan of both aspects of Destiny, I have talked to several of my hardcore PvP friends about obtaining Exotics. I wasn't very surprised that the majority of them really aren't interested in working towards these items since all weapons and armor have a base ratings while used in Crucible. If you think about it, that's a lot of work for a weapon that looks cool but only gives its owner a slight advantage due to its abilities against a low level opponent wielding some skill and a standard starter weapon. They would rather wait until the Iron Banners or other PvP events come around and work on them. Now with Activation and Bungie being who they are and the franchises they are responsible for, its a given expectation that Bungie has pretty much catered to the Hardcore PvP player. They have definitely achieved this in Destiny by making level progression available with the same random loot system in PvE, allowing PvP players to get fully geared without ever having to touch the PvE content. If they are going to make "Becoming Legend" possible strictly through PvP they should show the same love to the PvE players without forcing the two together. Final thought.... ...to those of you Hardcore PvP fans out there who are responding with general comments of "Deal with it or GFTO" keep this in mind.... This isn't Halo or a COD title where the multi-player is pretty much the point of buying the game. This is a MMOFPS which caters more to the PvE player and PvE content. Crucible is just a small slice of the Destiny pie.

1 ReplyCouldn't agree more! I find it especially silly that the 3 clans I can gain rep via vanguard pve, but then still require crucible marks to buy it. The exotic bounties are also silly, I haven't done any PvP and don't want to do any. Being forced to enter is ridiculous. I originally thought this game was going to be more pve with the arena as sort of an after thought. From what I've read on how it plays, it is an after thought, yet they shove it down our throats...

1 ReplyI hate PvP in destiny more then any other game and in order to get good gear to do things like raids and Nightfall missions PvP seems to me a must. Hate it!
-
1 ReplyIts very frustrating considering how awful the crucible is.
-
Thorn - No, it doesn't slow your progress lately. It takes 3 deaths to make that 1 kill you got not count. Use Void Damage to get 500 points where each kill is 5 points and every death is 2. I finished the thorn bounty from start to finish in one day (Today). Anyone can do it.
-
12 RepliesAre people stupid? Why would they make an MMO game that doesn't require any skill for you to earn better weapons and equipment. You think they should take away skill (pvp) to reward you with everything through time (missions)? Get over it or go back to gamestop, dam silver spoon gamers!
-
gg(get good) haha but i prefer this. I want some skill involved in getting the good gear. everyone walking around with every single exotic gun would be bogus.
-
Lol. I see the problem here. Obviously you suck at PVP. You probably tried to do the PVP parts of the bounty's an failed miserably. Then you came to Bungie forums to complain about it and say "OMG BUNGIE IS FAVORING PVP OMGGG, I HATE PVP I DON'T WANNA EARN GEAR THROUGH SKILL I JUST WANT TO GET IT EASIER!!!" Did you think that you were just gonna kill 1 fallen with a headshot and automatically get a exotic weapon? Gtfo kid, Destiny isn't for you. Go play an easier game like Rugrats or something.
-
1 ReplyI agree, this isn't halo/COD/ Battlefield. I want PVE. It is supposed to be a MMO... But the most massive you can get is.... 6 players....
-
Edited by BlatantCasper: 9/26/2014 2:19:28 AMI totally agree the game is not being set up the way they advertised it is as if they have lost any ideas on how to make it an MMO and started back to the PVP like they had in their HALO games. I guess we will see soon if they are gonna stick to what they said it was gonna be or just stick to their old pvp routine from their past.
-
2 RepliesHi not to be contradictive to you or your post but how exactly is the PVP broken? I play both aspects but I do mostly PVP over PVE and i'm enjoying the crucible. Albeit I have raged a few times about being killed across the map via some scrub with an AR I don't get a sense it's broken but that ofcourse if my opinion like i said post here and tell me pls:3
-
Sorry, but for those of us who bought the game for the pvp and got the end product, everyone should suffer as we suffer muah ha ha ha ha!
-
This is the biggest problem I have with Destiny. Bungie says they want to keep it fresh with events, but if the events are all this PVP-heavy, it won't stay fresh for people like me who don't enjoy PVP. I guess I'm in the minority so I can't expect it to be the way I want it, but it's still a bummer. It's only the first month. Maybe there will be more variety next month (or whenever they roll out new events), but these events don't give me much hope.
-
Agreed. It should be a choice and not forced. Too much focus on PVP in an advertised PvE game. Additionally the bounties change day to day on whether it's more PvE/PVP bias for the queen. But this should have been a strict PvE event. At least make it even where each week it switches between PVP focus or PvE focus. Not just give us once a month
