So I recently acquired the Bad Juju Pulse Rifle, and while I do still like the weapon a little, it leaves far too much for the want. It starts off with high RoF (Rate of Fire), minimal impact, and a sad 15-round mag. Normally, with low impact weapons, you would wanna give them MORE rounds per mag. This is not the case with the Juju.
But that's not the worst part...
I just got the Exotic upgrade, String of Curses, unlocked. Here's how it really works: When you kill an enemy with Juju, the magazine immediately resets and Juju is given a 20% damage buff for 5 seconds (buff does not stack per kill).
This sounds kinda nice, except for when you are facing enemies who can take more than the Juju's 15 rounds of still-low damage (even with precision damage). Also, if you get a kill with the first or second bullet in the three round burst, the magazine resets off of the killing bullet, then fires the rest of the burst from the fresh mag, so sometimes, you may end up only having 14 or even 13 rounds for the next victim.
Overall, the Bad Juju is bad. It offers far too little to be considered an Exotic weapon. What it needs is an impact buff, or possibly make the instant reload a permanent passive buff, rather than a kill-activated one. For an Exotic weapon that requires people to bust their butts a little, doing 25 strike missions, waiting for Cthulu to show up on Friday, and then grinding out Crucible kill exp, (where, even as a decent player, you may average 500 exp on a bad match and 1,000 on a good one) this weapon should be worth the work put into getting it. But, right now, it just isn't worth all of the hard work spent trying to obtain it in the first place. As it stands right now, I would NOT recommend anybody getting this weapon, or "Toland's Legacy" Exotic bounty at all.

I guess now we will see how this one looks once they put in the changes just announced in the dev post (for this one and Thorn), along with balance to other weapon types they mention. It's kind of nice to see a direct reference about it.

1 ReplyAll Exotics are crappy until Ranked up, they scale differently to Legendary weapons. If you bare with it and level it up you will fall in love. :)
-
2 RepliesBetter then a useless shotgun and stupid hand canon. This was the only option for me and I can't wait to get it.
-
2 RepliesSo wow, reading this was disheartening. I'm currently working on the bounty for the juju. Question: what would have been the better choice for exotic bounties? I didn't want to go with the shotgun, as I already have the universal remote (not thrilled about having a shotgun as a primary in p.v.e.) Has anyone tried the other bounties and have any thoughts on that?

My friend must be using a different Bad Juju because he has no problems dominating PvP matches with that weapon.

13 RepliesDo you even headshot?
-
14 RepliesIt's called using Shingen E for PvP bud. Pulse Rifles will always be dominated by a Auto Rifle. Bad Juju tares shit up in PvE.
-
2 RepliesAgreed. 100%. This is probably the WORST gun in the game. I have gone back to my Auto Rifle (Blue). This thing has way too small of a magazine, the recoil is too high, and the damage is too low. THE ABSOLUTE WORST combination for a primary rifle, especially for an exotic (which mind you takes the spot up for our only allowed equipped Exotic weapon). Bad Juju is just bad.

3 RepliesEdited by Qirito: 9/22/2014 10:53:04 PMTo make things worse they took away the VOID damage that gave the weapon's design and name a reason for beign...besides the string of curses perk. Even legendary rifles have elemental dmg, yet this exotic does not.
-
4 RepliesI'm glad you explained the mechanic of string of curses, was wondering, still levelling it. Too bad, hopefully they will increase the impact substantially or stability or something. It seems possible to unload it really fast, but there is a lot of time spent reloading. Or maybe redisign the signature upgrade to make it auto-reload if you full-auto all five shots or something, and only reload if you have to take your finger off the trigger. If it keeps it's sketchy stability then that could be good but still a bit of a trade off, maybe. I'm still going to do everything I can to discover a way to use it effectively as is before I throw in the towel.

I found a good use for bad juju. Once you get string of curses you can farm the cave and never reload or run out of ammo. FFS an exotic weapon thats only good for killing level 6 trash mobs. Bump.
-
2 RepliesI completely agree with you. Bad juju needs a larger magazine. I've tried to use this weapon in the crucible, but I need to hit the other guardian's head with every shot in order to kill them. This weapon was not easy to get it's design is awesome. I'd love to see it's numbers tweaked to make the gun feel like a true exotic.
-
1 ReplyThank you for everybody's feedback and support. Hopefully, this forum reaches the ears of the team and prompts them to make some necessary changes to the weapon. Like I said, I WANT to like Juju, but it needs some TLC before it can truly be considered an Exotic. I will continue to post reports and feedback about Exotic weapons as I come across them. If there are any bugs/problems with the behavior of some of these "amazing" weapons, they will be brought into light, one way or another.

15 Rounds magazine O: ! That's like 9 more than my Thorn ! DAYUM ! I'm just playing, I feel you friend, I really hope they do something about the underpowered exotics, oh and I hope they nerf the Exotic Fusion Rifle it charges in .25 seconds lol. Thanks for the feedback !
-
2 RepliesLmao i lost it at Cthulu
-
4 RepliesAgree mate it's I a piece of shit. Grindy quest (good) loons alright but why does the weed smoke coming out of it not move when you pivot? Only when you strafe? Lazy! :) annoying as hell to level up as it, pre soc blows the absolute balls and then when you get soc it continues to suck? Surely you jest?

Glad I picked the bounty that gave me pocket infinity...
-
I say change the mag size standard of the pulse rifles to 35. Bungie should go back to their roots on this one. Halo had a good and even mag size/power ratio set up
-
4 RepliesEdited by ZackerX: 9/21/2014 5:11:10 PMThe problem isnt Bad juju itself. It's a poor design for Pulse Rifles. Most of them all have High RoF and Medicore Stablility(except upgrade that add statbility)to make you to deal stable damage. But it cost Bullet Damage and Impact have to be low to balance or it would be overpowered in PVP. So what bungie need to do is buff Pulse Rifle Bullet Damage by 10% and nerf Auto Rifle damage by 10% to make Pulse Rifle useful in ANYWHERE. Especially HIGH LEVEL Strike and Raid.

6 RepliesI just got the exotic bounty for juju , after reading this it saddens me as it the only thing I have got that could be an upgrade for me since only thing I have got on over a week is blue or greens even from purple engrams i agree that if it takes do much effort to get an item then make it worth the effort , I'm terrible at pvp on a good day if I get 2 kills I'm doing well I'm more a pve person but that's ok I will still do the 1 k guardian kill to get juju simply because it's exotic , and I will use that to push me though the pvp , I only hope bungie realises that pele want to play the game just some thing need tweaking
-
Spot on, I love this gun, but it really is poor. Having an auto pulse rifle helps bridge the gap between pulse and auto rifles a bit, but the fact that it has only 15 rounds is a significant disadvantage coupled with the piss poor stability which is something pulse rifles are normally known for. Honestly the fact that the green smoke obscures a significant portion of the middle of the screen also doesn't help this weapon either.

Edited by MDRGuy88: 9/22/2014 6:20:15 AMI did the same thing. Have my bad juju a chance, waisted hours leveling it only to say screw this crappy thing and go buy the vanguard auto rifle Shadow Price that was literally better in all areas except max dmg. (Literally every stat was green when compared). So them I decided to try the other exotic heavy machine gun.... Wow that thing is a joke. Even single shot it throws bullets all over the place. You are lucky to hit 20% of the rounds fired. Sadly the best gear I have was bought from Xur. I'm missing the epic quest that rewards you with a sweet piece of loot and a story to go with it. Right now I'm seeing, 23 strange coins for that and 13 strange coins for that. Bummer Shadow price vs Bad juju http://s3.postimg.org/k8vjtqs4z/image.jpg

1 Replyi came here to post my same thoughts honestly, my bad juju is kinda.. underwleming. and i didnt know thats how to string of curses worked.. thats kinda lame...
-
Completly signed! I really wasted 6h for nothing..
-
I agree with the OP I have the juju and it isn't even that great to be called exotic.

Bad Juju sucks! In any situation! The mag is too small to even kill anything worth killing. The instant reload should happen when u hit the rrload button. It just reloads without any animation so you can keep firing. Problem fixed.
