Most of the exotics don't seem to be that great. My take on PVE so far is that the auto rifles are just too good to use anything else once you get a high level one with no recoil, its like a rapid fire sniper. I got a legendary pulse rifle but still use my level 16 rare auto rifle most of the time because its just more effective.
