The Raid Needs Matchmaking!
It's all well and good to have five friends who play Destiny--most of us do--, but having five friends who also made it through the tedious and boring grind through lvl 24 - 26 is another thing. I also find it funny that Bungies' excuse for the lack of Raid matchmaking is that they only want dedicated raiders, when anyone from the public can enter the start of your Raid session from Patrol. So, I ask that we are at the very least give the option to MM for Raids.
If you're dedicated to raiding, you're going to be using the dedicated Raid lobby. A lot of Bungie's decisions don't make any sense.

1 ReplyI agree the raid need matchmaking. The only person i can play PS4 games with is my cousin and 2 people does not a raid team make. Besides that as has been said I have a job and a life I don't have time to try to wrangle 5 people to run a raid and still have time to actually play it.

If matchmaking was added it'd be easier to get in, that I grant you, but after seeing Datto and his clan playing for over 5 hours and still not be past the first boss I doubt it's needed just yet. Matchmaking isn't going to magically allow you to complete or enjoy the raid, but what's incredibly likely (and there's proof here on this forum with strikes, missions and whatnot) is that it'll just lead to asking for nerfs. Unless MM had its own difficulty, I can't see people going into raids and having fun. I just can't see a group of six strangers staying in the instance for 5+ hours after constant wipes. As much as I want to raid, I know all too well the consequences of having matchmaking in raid content.

Many people won't have the people to play raids with. I only ever play with my brother and brother in law which is fine for strikes, but I barely have 5 people in my friends list, let alone those who have destiny.

6 RepliesI understand where bungie is coming from saying they want dedicated raiders to do the raid mission but it's pretty difficult to find five other dedicated raiders to team up with so I feel that matchmaking would be a great help in building a stronger destiny community by allowing more people to come together.

Agreed. I don't even have 5 good friends in real life let alone 5 that own a PS4 + Desinty and are all on at the same time.

If you have ever played wow raid finding is really hit or miss, and only really works if you get into a raid that had a group start it. Plus what happens when the group disbands that was random? Raiding isn't a one shot event. The first took 14 hours for a group to defeat. It just does not work as a sit down and go with randoms event. Edit: sp.

14 RepliesRaids take a long time, and only the fireteam leader can start the raid once you save the progress. Matchmaking wouldn't work in this scenario. If someone dropped out, then you're down a guy, because the same six fireteam members are locked into that particular instance of the raid.

10 RepliesHow hard is it to find people on this site? Or the matchmaking site that someone created? Like seriously, get over it man. Deal with it. There are many other ways to find 5 other RELIABLE people who WANT to play the Raid for the entire time and won't leave half way through it.

Yes - Agree 100% Raids [b]needs[/b] matchmaking options. I really hope Bungie add the [b]option[/b] to use matchmaking if you want too. I'm missing out on new content (which in some places the game lacks) by what is a poor design decision, I realise that the raids are tough - but so are some of the high level strikes, which I've completed well enough with random players! My reasons are pretty much the same as others - family, job and most of my friends are playing Destiny on other formats! (I'm x-box one!) [b]Please[/b] Bungie - please add the option to choose matchmaking or friends for Raids.

Its a revolutionary social experience according to Bungie with: - Restricted voice chat - Very limited match making - An unsocial social hub aka the Tower - Artificial wall creation to access the content you paid for - A patronizing approach of "to save yourself from yourself you have to have 6 friends to access raids" while having no support or effective tools in the game in which to make new friends It simply doesn't add up. To ask the same question I have been asking since this restriction was announced "Why does matchmaking effect anyone if there is a choice as to use it or not?" The only real benefit is to keep people, a minority I might add, from whining and pressuring them to dumb down the content. Grow a spine, refuse to change the difficulty, give players real group control and a real UNIVERSAL matchmaking system and let the community sort it out. The freeloaders will get black listed and new friends will be made and new experiences will be had. So why exactly does it make sense to NOT have universally accessible matchmaking when the HUGE part of this experience - according to Bungie - is socialization? Matchmaking is critical to the games success and is a CHOICE that is provided to the player - a MUST HAVE TOOL. Anyone with any experience with PC MMO's knows this (and I have a LOT of MMO experience) and while this is "a shared shooter" I find that it IS an MMO and is intended to be an MMO but has none of the communication tools and grouping tools essential to creating that social experience Bungie has promised.

[u]Results[/u]: - Waiting several hours (For people to even consider my forum post) - Less then 3 strikes - Waste of time in comparison to how long it took and the rewards gained I agree with having matchmaking one hundred percent.

People over 27 do struggle to have 5-6 friends who all have the time and console. Please fix it so we everyone can enjoy the full content, not just the hardcore gamers.
