Here are my thoughts:
You wouldn't complain if a male restaurant/store employee opened the door for you, so why get so pissy when a random guy opens it for you?
Also, I consider it respectful when opening a door for anybody, not just women. It shows you value the person's existence enough to spare them the hastle of opening the door when they are right behind you and it's more convenient to just hold it open. But that's just me.

3 RepliesMath Look at it this way. According to building code regulations in the US, each door must not require more than 5 lbs of force. That equates to opening the door= 0.00000023704 mega joules Holding the door open saves that person all that energy. However, keeping the door open uses about half of that, or 0.00000011852 mega joules. To make a car, it requires 34,320 mega joules of energy. Translation: 1 car=289,571,380,357.746 people had a door held for them. Divide this by the current world population as of this post, which is 7,262,326,425 people. This gives us approximately 40. So when each person holds the door for 40 people, enough energy to make a car is saved. So if anybody ever gets onto you for holding the door open, say this:
I'm making a contribution towards a car. So just shhh and walk through, please.
1 ReplyEdited by Madi the Insane: 9/22/2014 2:16:44 AMLook, I'm a girl, and I don't do that. You're thinking of the stereotypical women. I am female, yet I don't understand females. At all. It's pretty sad, really. It may be because I do "guy" stuff and don't wear makeup... Either way, I'm not entirely sure I want to understand them... So no, I don't think it's sexist at all. In fact i think it's very polite, personally.

I open the door for everyone though.

I'm with you there 109%, buddy.

1 ReplyYOU DON'T GET IT,DO YOU? EVERYTHING IS SEXIST,EVERYTHING IS OFFENSIVE! *lightning strikes* bwahahaha... Seriously...that's my two cents on the matter. If "those" people can find a reason to say something offends them, they will, no matter how minuscule it is.

I do not believe it is sexist more gentlemanly

2 RepliesI usually just slam the door behind me, rub my nuts on the glass, and note the reactions on people's faces. Priceless every time.
-
The point is to show respect for women. Why do they not like this???
-
Held a door open for an older gentleman and some lady walked through afterwards and said that she didn't need me to open the door for her. Well good bitch I held it open for the nice old man in front of you.

I open the door for everybody that happens to be walking behind me. If they don't like it, I'll slam it in their face next time.

It is not in any way, anyone who says different is a feminazi

2 RepliesIts respectful and on a date the right thing to do. That same woman will probably look at you to pay the bill too. And women wonder where chivalry has gone. It died, when you (women) stopped acting like ladies.
-
No, but people have to have something to complain about. I hold doors open for people regardless of gender if i'm in a convenient position to do so, thankfully I haven't had the displeasure of meeting someone so snooty as to be contemptuous towards my gesture.
-
Edited by The Dark Hadou: 9/11/2014 11:52:35 AMYes it is, that's why I purposefully hold doors shut when a woman's trying to get through in order to prove I'm not sexist.
-
I fart in front of women to show dominance
-
I hold the door for anyone. I judge neediness in this case less by sex and more by physical ability. If I can make something easier for someone physically weaker than me, I will. It's not my fault that I'm stronger than 90% of women.

No you would be polite. I do same for both(why it can take me 10 minutes to get into church);)

I don't think its sexist. Would she prefer you close the door in her face. You're nice for being a gentleman. Keep it up
