Also, after setting up my own VPN through my Macbook Pro, I get kicked once every hour or so and I have gotten error code canary now.

I ran my college internet via ethernet into my computer, set up the free version of Hotspot Shield, and then went into system preferences>sharing> internet and now my macbook is a small, but mighty wifi vpn

Do I need the Ethernet into Mac? Also how did you get it to xbox

I believe you do need ethernet onto your mac, though im not 100% positive. And you connect your xbox into the wireless network you set up through your mac

Its worth a try. Be mindful, vpns are commonly against school policies, check with your it department to make sure you dont lose internet privileges
