To those who think story is too short

Sure "beating" the game seems so easy on destiny... However as of right now this game is NOT beatable there is no end just an open door to more things to do and more to come. Stop crying about the story and comparing it because this is unlike any game you will ever play. this IS NOT halo this IS NOT cod this IS NOT battlefield This is a separate breed. THIS IS DESTINY Why don't you re run throughout the missions and run through every nook and cranny on the map making sure you didn't miss anything. Why don't you hit level cap and try to achieve vanguard armor. Why don't you just take your -blam!-ing tears somewhere else? Your poor taste in games is why cod sells. This is a game for men and women not boys and girls so if you don't like it GTFO This is a game about skill over NPC's skill over other players. Collecting gear and grinding. Problem is console users don't want to grind and look and play they want the things that separate two people to be things like lag switches, host, modded controllers not a game that requires you to seek out and kill enemy's that carry these upgrades that might take you 500 times to kill before you get something good and or better. If you can't take this game now and you're complaining already GTFO the future of this game is not for you. How about you look into the detail the skill of the employees and the creative minds of these artists who create every little aspect you take for granted. From every grain of dust to the massive buildings and ships.... People have slaved for years to produce this excellent product. If you can't Handle this game and have the need to cry about every little problem like An openable map? How about you go play and explore Short story? Play it on hard and restart Bad pvp? It's because you are garbage Grow the -blam!- up people and get off these forums These forums are meant to help people not make people sift through young kids sorrow to find answers and post things just to get trampled over by trolls boosting thread count.

lol even Destiny 1 was bigger and longer it takes about 3-4 hours and you are already done with the story and the open worlds are really small Destiny 1,s open worlds where a bit bigger

  • I"m a big story fan and am disappointed that the story in Destiny is not more fleshed out. That said, you all forget a few important things. One, not all of us can play 8+ hours a day, I've managed to get to lvl 8 in 2 days and that is with me staying up later then I probably should. Two, I don't think you've really fully experienced a game like Destiny just because you beat the story missions. A lot of stuff is locked until lvl 20 and from what I'm hearing, it sounds like you can grow beyond lvl 20, not to mention those 6 person raids I've been hearing about as well. So, this just doesn't seem like the kind of game where you run through the story once and call it a day. And frankly, I don't see how there is an issue anyway. People play through and beat games like Call of Duty or Battlefield in a day or two, no one complains they didn't get their money worth. Now, someone could retort that those people then play the multiplayer, well, congrats, Destiny has multiplayer, it has co-op, it has weekly events (the first hasn't even dropped yet and honestly, I doubt I'll be lvl 20 in time to do it), it has these 6 person raids, so there's plenty to do once the story is over. P.S. OP is pretty rude in his post, which I don't agree with. However, he makes some good points. To get the full experience of this game, you need to do more then just beat the story missions.

    • Not sure if in too late to jump on this or not, but Destiny as a game was a big let down. If you skip all the disappointed story line, the horrible pvp matching, and a game where it was advertised as the biggest game of 2014, there wasn't that much to it. That leads you to end game content. What's the endgame content? 5 or so raids with the vault of glass. So, there is only 6 or so levels you will actually play, but 1 when you actually become the level to do it. So, there is only 1 level and PvP. PvP is fine, except the horrible matchups. New people will be dominated by the people who have exotics, and don't give me this 'everyone is set to the same level in pvp' nonsense. Its set to a default level with stats can only go so high. Your guns shoot the same rate, with the same base damage, with the same accuracy. So a poop start up rifle won't compete with the exotic on even terms. Which adds difficulty to pvp at times. But even then, there's only like 7 pvp maps, and most of the time, I only play 2. Which is boring as crap. So tell me again why I shouldn't care why destiny is too short, small, or anything? Its a $15 game marked up to $60. I'm mad because I bought the game for a FULL game, not some demo of a game. I'm not buying any dlc that was already installed on the disc/day one digital files that was locked. But, let's go into what type of game this is... MMO? Let's see, there's 16 players at most, but they can jump on and out. I wouldn't call it an MMO. But you grind and redo the same quests, yeah I'll give it that. Content of an MMO, I've played early closed betas of MMOs that had tons more content then this game, for free. Has events, if you can call it that. Loot, not even close. I've seen only 8 types of armors, with 3 variants. There's only like 4 guns with 5 variants of each. I was expecting at least 30 unique pieces of armor with variants. Many more weapons and variety of weapons. Fps? Yes its an fps. Nothing missing here. RPG? Barely. It has a poor leveling system and that's it. Oh, unless you want to include the poor narrative and depth of universe to count as a poor excuse to 'role play' you're character. As a shooter and solely a shooter, its decent, that's it.

    • The story itself is to short but the game overall is great I do belive they could have done a better job with the story if you look at borderlands it's almost the same game just a different setting but borderlands story was better it was much longer and the quest were more varied don't gd etc me wrong I like destiny alot ut I can see where it can get monotonous and the pvp is way out of wack when I was lvl 10 I was going against lvl 25+ who I could barely get a hit in with out dying because my weapons were no match for theirs

    • I agree with you, unfortunately there's many many more people who delight in being a negative little sour puss. I wish they would stay away from Destiny if they dislike it so much! It's like they hate a certain food but continue to eat it everyday and talk about it all night long...

I once was driving behind a very wise young man who had the following bumper sticker on his car. "There are three phases to how people respond to a new Idea. First, it is ridiculed. Second, it is violently resisted. Lastly, it is accepted as common knowledge." Destiny is a new idea. One that fuses many elements of other gaming genres----each with their own dogged fan base----into something new and distinct.....and right now you are seeing the "violent resistance" phase. Being led by the competitive FPS (Cod heads) who don't want Destiny to ecclipse their favorite game...and don't understand that they tnings they are complaining about are a FUNDAMENTAL PART of any action-RPG. Some may eventually open their eyes. But the rest will simply keep on complaining until they finally acquiesce to the "third phase" through peer pressure. Being held in reserve, are MMO/sandbox fans who see themselves as a "better class" of gamer than FPS fans, and dont' understand that the limits they are complaining about aer a FUNDAMENTAL part of any FPS game. Too many things on the screen...and you get chaos....and you overload the servers. Fail to impose limits on the play space...and you wind up with a NARRATIVE that completely unravles. Bungie didn't create Destiny to let you "write your own story". They created Destiny to craft a modern-day myth/Hero's Journey...in which our characters get to play a leading role in. But the story is VERY much one of our guardians being a part of events that are VASTLY larger than ourselves....and point being further driven home by the spiritual undertones that pervade the story telling. But these are things that people who aren't willing to explore the depths of the game...will never get or appreciate. Just as those who are more concerned about having a virtual playground, won't appreciate it either. Last but not least, you have those complainers who think they should get the WORLD for only $60----the price of a decent dinner out for two----and that 40 GB is a "lack of content". When the reality is that they are simply CHEAP, and think that $60 should buy them thousands of hours of entretainment.... Of course that bumper sticker had a cousin: "He who tries to please everyone, winds up pleasing no one." Bungie has created somethign very special here. But not everyone is going to like it....and some people will dislike simply because they dont' like hte people who DO like it.

      • Someone asked me yesterday night, "Dude how are you not bored with that game?" I've played the full game since 2:11 am september 9th on release day. I took 3 vacation days and in those 3 days I slept maybe 6 hours. I played all the missions and found and saw things that amazed my friends when I showed them. I bought a piece of exotic armor from Xur during his first visit. Old friends stopped playing, I found new friends that still play. I've ground out strike after strike and patrol after patrol. I've seen the good side of RNGebus and I've been screwed by the VoG RNGebus. I've done all this and I'm going to keep doing all these things. I still love this game. It's not about K\D or hours played, it's about having fun with my friends. To all the haters: It's ok to hate this game. Not everyone likes the same things and thats cool. RNGebus getting you down? Take a week off and play a different game, I do. It's cool to have an opinion. To all the Guardians who still love this game: I'll see you out in the fields.

      • I think the length is fine and Destiny has a great foundation for Destiny 2(or whatever they call it) A game that leaves more questions than answers can help the second game more. Infinity Blade 2 had even more questions to be answered than Destiny and it really helped to make the third epic.

        • The story is short and confusing. I have played this game just about every day since launch. I still don't know why we are fighting all these aliens and the darkness. Are they all the darkness or just the hive. For a game that was supposed to be an rpg/ fps/mmo there is no story just shoot this and that open this door and shoot some more. The way this game sold and advertised I thought it would be more like rpg and have a deep rich story like a mass effect or final fantasy.

          • I don't give a shit about the story line for any game. I always skip cut scenes when I can. I played dark souls for two years and still don't know what the point was lol

          • The forum is a place for people to both help people and talk about the whatever the game lacks. People want to complain about aspects of the game then there going to complain and have every right to do so. You need to grow up and realize this.

          • First I'd like to say, I enjoy this game, I've been playing it since launch week. However, the story isn't short. In game, the story is non existent. All the story is told through grimore cards, the in game "story" is an unemotional, undeveloped, unexplained mess. As far as the gameplay, yes it continues well after you complete "story" missions. But really when you hit max level, that's when it ends until the next dlc comes out.
