Why do people still drink alcohol and do drugs in this day and age?
I can get drinking alcohol in the 20th century, we weren't nearly as collectively intelligent back then. But why do people these days, and kids especially, insist on wasting their lives by doing drugs and alcohol?? For Christ's sakes, people are actually pushing for marijuana to be legalized on a federal scale! (not even going to bring up that total failure of the legal system in Colorado and Washington) Our society is just getting more and more corrupt as these dangerous chemicals are getting accepted. I remember when you couldn't even get a job if you smoked marijuana.
If you do any kind of drug or drink booze regularly, you're an idiot. I get messing up every now and then, but it shouldn't be a lifestyle. And if you're addicted, please go to a rehab clinic and get help. People like you are only holding our country back.

In a controlled situation and in moderation, there is no problem with any of it. It is when people lose control of themselves and go out while doing it. Once you lose control, you are a problem that needs to be dealt with. While I don't do drugs or pot, I do drink. When I chose to drink, every scenario is thought out, if no one is sober, no one leaves till morning, if one is sober, they are designated driver. If drinks run out, party is over, there is no beer run.

Societal/peer pressure, stress, addiction (ex: morphine addiction after being prescribed morphine (this takes a while, but is possible)), curiosity, and because they enjoy the effects of the drug. These are just a few reasons. I do think rehab needs to be a viable option for people. However, it's hard for many people to go to and stay in rehab. I personally don't use drugs. I drink a little from time to time, but never enough to actually get drunk (I'll have a mixed drink with dinner if I feel like it and I don't have work the next morning). But if someone is going to get shit-faced in the safety of their own home, who am I to stop them? They aren't hurting or endangering anyone but themselves. Edit: Judgmental and hateful people are the real ones holding back society.

I don't intend on living past 60 at most. If I die before then I wont be that mad so -blam!- it I'm gonna have fun whilst I can and, in my experience, I've never had a bad time with alcohol. Never enough to make me think that I shouldn't have done it anyway. It depends on the person, what they wanna do with their body and their mind. For them to know their limits y'know? Also tbh it's all a matter of personal preference, not "collective intelligence"
