So I wanted to take the time to explain this seeing so many people are confused about when they can play.
The Bungie servers for Destiny will be officially online as of 12:01am New Zealand time which is 8am Eastern and 5am Pacific. Meaning if you have gotten an early released PHYSICAL copy of the game which some in the USA have you will be able to play then.
For the rest of the physical copies you will be able to play once you have your copy in hand and are home and finish installing it you can play with no worries.
For those with Digital copies you have the option to pre-load the game, however, can not play it until the servers of Xbl and Psn have unlocked the game, this will happen at 3am Eastern and 12am Pacific
Now there are posts stating changing your region and time settings will allow sooner access to the game. THIS IS FALSE! Here is why:
When you connect to the internet you are connecting through an ISP (Internet Service Provider) because of this your internet is given a geographical location to the nearest central hub for that provider. For me I live in Upstate NY, the closest to me is in Syracuse. You can go to speedtest.net on pc and see where yours is. Now, because you connect like this Psn and Xbl know you are connecting from the U.S. and will not unlock the game for you. There are programs to change locations however none that can be downloaded and accessed by a Playstation 3/4 or Xbox 360/1. The only thing people who try this will accomplish is hyping themselves up and then coming back to the forums complaining that it didnt work and bitching at Bungie for something they have no control over because Xbl and Psn servers are PST based.
That is all, one more thing though if you see someone posting pics of playing a digital copy you can be 100% sure they have a physical copy they are playing and just trolling

2 RepliesFinland here and when i checked my pre downloaded/installed file of Destiny on my ps3 i went and clicked the game icon and took Info, Said to me it is available at 0:00 the 9'th so that's midnight after monday. Funny how it is so misleading or confusing checking elsewhere but checking your installed game from info it seems to be most accurate when you can play in your timezone as in info it said clock time and date when the content is available.

Would usually be true, but if you check after you set location to Australia the xbox one then sets the date and time to nzt, now I'm not talking about setting the time to nzt, that alone wouldn't work but when you change location as far as the xbox for all intents and purposes believes it's in Australia, this includes content such as downloads apps and anything else only available in that region, in some cases the apps themselves won't connect for said reasons in your post, but ..... the xbox believes the pre downloaded copy is from Australia and for the purpose of unlocking it runs from the date as stated when you try install the full game.

1 ReplyEdited by Papa Thaddy: 9/7/2014 11:48:28 PMSo if they can see ISP locations why can't the digital preorder dl's open up when it turns 12am in that time zone rather than waiting 12am pacific time?

Exactly

9 RepliesThis is what I tell people and they don't believe me. We'll they will still be haters when their "full proof" plan fails and complain why are people playing and they can't. Boo hoo to them I say. Just wait like the rest of us.

1. Your times are wrong.. NZ is 16 hours ahead of the US not 8. 2. This has worked on Xbox One many times as switching your location will connect you to the Xbox Store for that region. Many EU gamers switch their location to the US for games that are released over here first that way they get a cheaper price and get to play early.

1 ReplyI really appreciate that you took your time to write the post but Bro, you got those time all wrong. Aforementioned link will help you fix it.

2 RepliesActually, there are ways to change the IP address on your console, or you can even adjust your ip settings in your router, making any device on your home network appear to be located from whichever country you wish. However, that doesn't mean you can still accomplish playing the game earlier. The other problem is your PSN account is linked to a specific region. I don't believe you can change it.

Being honest, I can't choose any of your poll options, so I will create my own. "And all of the people creating threads on these topics completely ignored this thread and continued their onslaught of the forums"
