Can you join a friends strike while they're in the middle of it?

It would be impossible given that all 3 strike slots are filled before starting. [spoiler]you may be able to if someone leaves...[/spoiler]

This is possible if a guardian leaves and then is replaced by another guardian in the middle of a strike
