So we can transfer our progress and characters from PS3 to PS4 or 360 to Xbox One, which is pretty rad. I was just wondering what the technical hitch is that prevents me transfering from PS4 to Xbox One or 360 to PS4?
Presumably if I can go between PS3 and PS4, my profile is stored on a Bungie/Acti server somewhere and that allows it to move between platforms? Because it's not as if the PS3 and PS4 are similar in architecture any more than the 360 and PS4 are.
I have some friends playing on Xbox One that I want to play with and similarly I have some on PS4 that I want to play with. I'm buying the game on both formats, but it's a shame that I'll have to have two separate progress profiles for the two platforms.
I'd hoped when new B.net launched and we were able to link all our accounts here that we may get some sort of unified account that you could tap into from any console and access my characters and progress. Has this ever been suggested in an update or anything?
Ninja Edit
Hello OP (or anyone who has decided to open the spoiler and read all of this).
I'm one of the Bungie.Net Ninjas. We may have met before, we may have interacted, you might have heard of us, or you may have no clue as to who we are and what we do. Well, this little note is to explain some of the things we do. One of the major roles we play is to handle the reports that come in whenever a member clicks on the "Report" button, to let us know that there is a post, a topic or a user that either doesn't understand or isn't following the rules that we all agreed to follow when we joined. But that's not the Ninja function that brought on this note.
The reason I am writing this is because I have retagged your thread. Bungie.Net uses hashtags to designate their major forums and to help keep things organized. Your OP (original post) was opened, created or given a hashtag that well, wasn't the best choice. It could have been that you were browsing through the various forum/tags that are available on the site or app, and clicked on "New Topic" while in a forum that didn't "match up" with the subject matter of your OP. Or, you may have thought "this belongs here", when unfortunately, it doesn't.
That's another role of the Bungie.Net Ninjas. We not only try to keep things fun, pleasant and welcoming here by removing rule-breakers, but we also want EVERY good topic to have the best chance to survive, thrive, find the right audience, and get lots of on-topic replies. And so, I have retagged your topic to move it to the forum where it has the best chance of doing that.
I give you my word that I have not altered a single letter or character of your Original Post, just placed this message below it and set the tag to better describe your topic. You may notice that you are unable to edit this post anymore. That is a part of the system, and I apologize for any inconvenience that it may have caused. I've not replied or commented on your OP, since this message would most likely be "off-topic" to your thread and when members see a Ninja or Mentor (who are volunteers from the community) or even a Bungie employee post, they tend to go a little crazy and the disruption to the thread becomes a distraction. I don't want that to happen to your thread. I want it to be in the BEST place possible, to be seen by the largest audience who is looking for this sort of topic, I want it to take root, get replies, grow strong and make these forums a better place.
If you have any questions, you should feel free to PM me. My name is now in the upper right corner of your OP where it says "edited by".
Thanks for your patience, thanks for being a part of this community, thanks for taking the time to read all of this (I hid it in a spoiler so that anyone who clicked couldn't complain about "too long, didn't read"), and thank you in advance for creating your future topics with the forum/tag location in mind.

No Sony and mic would never let it happen
-
Its because of the playstation exclusives
-
It's probably because of PS exclusives

Yet another pathetic miss by Bungie. If I can transfer my GTAV character around between all the platforms it works on then there is no reason why Bungie can't support this as well. They just don't care enough about their customers to implement this. At this point you can just expect that if it would be helpful to the end user then Bungie won't bother with it.

Bump.

I play on both systems but mostly Xbox One. It would be nice to be able to play on either system with the items and level you have obtained. It is difficult to find the time to level characters on both systems and I think they would sell more copies of people could do that. I have friends on Xbox One that have PS4's but don't have the time to invest in playing on both systems.

My PS4 broke and I had 3 level 32 characters on it. Only had enough to buy an Xbone so now I got 3 level 32's I cant use, and a level 3 I can

Nope. There are no bungie accounts. Everything is tied to PSN or XBL and we are just accessing it through them. The only way to even log into Bungie.net is with your console account. That is the only reason you can you can access through different generations. Unlike Rockstar with GTA and Square-Enix with FF14 that have you log into their accounts at the start of the game.

I could see possibly transferring from Xbox to playstation but not vise versa. I say this mostly because playstation has exclusives that xbox does not have the privilege of

Edited by ShadowPh4ze: 7/14/2015 9:32:35 AMBecome legend. Well, I have on the xbox one (2000+hrs) and now I want to pitch my legend against my PS4 friends. Although it would be great to stick to my platform and play against players on PS4 that would be hard to do, but simply allowing me to sign in on a PS4 with my Bungie data doesn't seem like a massive ask (you can dupe data across both platform servers easily). Sure there may be complexities due to exclusive content but this is easy to deal with. Simply don't allow the exclusive content to transfer. Come on let's make the Destiny experience even more amazing - make this happen.

I agree, make this happen Bungie :)
-
Perhaps when Xbox gets PSN exclusives
-
even if you could just trade items through the vault between ps4 and Xbox one characters would be great
-
Probly not because ps exclusives and different software

Edited by Snowbound: 7/12/2015 7:06:42 AMI so wish I could transfer my characters to the PS network. It has better graphics and I am tired of recording on the xbox and I want better graphics

I'd buy a PS4 now if I could transfer my characters from X360. Having to buy the game again (at the ridiculous $ to £ conversion) and then finding a couple of spare months to grind three characters means I likely won't carry on paying what is effectively a yearly subscription for dull repetition and laggy PVP.
-
Maybe after the ps exclusivity ends (I think in September) then they may consider it. I am on 360 but am definitely looking to get a ps4. Seems it's the better console.
-
The should be a bungie account so that at the start you can log in to different accounts and play you account on any console
-
-
Only interesting PS4 exclusives are Street Fighter and Bloodborne.
-
Diablo let's you do it. I really don't want an Xbox one to continue enjoying destiny.
-
If we could switch accounts cross platforms I would buy a ps4. I don't even play xbox exclusives like halo.
-
Hardware has nothing to do with it and unfortunately Xbox Live =/= PlayStation Network, which is how your accounts are linked to Bungie.net. They could never merge the two because they are different entities, which is why it DOES work when you upgrade systems. This would be awesome, though.

Please Bungie, make this happen!
