I'm not sure why 35% of people voted no? If somebody could give me their argument that would be great. Borderlands 2 was an open world sandbox which had split screen and it worked great.
Anyway, it doesn't matter because I don't believe Bungie could add split screen with an update. You probably won't see it till Destiny 2 :(

I for one hate playing pvp stuff against people split screening because when you kill one, the other one can just look on their partner's screen and see where you were in the map.

Borderlands was not an open online game, yes you could have people with you, but it wasn't exactly the same. You need to sign in to your PSN, and through your PSN, sign into Destiny to access your character at all, these are not local saves, which makes the world of difference as far as trying to use 2 different characters. Also, the loot distribution system is completely different, you'd probably end up with shared loot, which would break the whole way the loot even works. There's quite a few obstacles here, and it's just not worth it to try and get around. I can think of no game that has online saves that has a split screen feature. And if the saves were local, you're looking at people editing their save files and opening the door to all kinds of terrible things in Destiny.

Okay, thank you for an informative response. It makes sense. Especially the loot system and online saves. Borderlands loot is broken because it's so easy to duplicate weapons to other people.

Edited by FenHarel: 9/7/2014 4:53:01 AMI put a bit extra thought into this and threw another comment on this post up, attempting to explain a bit more... Probably sounds snarky, but I've seen this come up alot and been in some rather bitter debates over it :l The main thing that destroyed Borderlands' loot was that for some reson your split screen partner magically had a few golden keys, so you could just sit there and sign in and out and farm the living hell out of the box. Why they decided to do that, I have no idea.

I voted no simply for the fact that to add split-screen to a game in a update later wouldn't be possible. At least not very easily. The devs would have to rewrite entire parts of code and that could take awhile. I voted for what seems more realistic rather than wishful thinking. We will see what Bungie does. At least they're listening to their community!

http://www.gamespot.com/articles/resogun-dlc-adds-new-modes-and-local-multiplayer/1100-6420205/ If HM can do it with resogun then bungie can. I would pay for that :P

Fair enough.
