On Xbox one, with the game pre loaded and ready to go, would you be willing to change your time zone to new Zealands? Would it even work? Or even Pacific time for that matter for people who live further east.

How do people believe this will work!? It won't change your IP address
-
I tried on my ps4 earlier today and unfortunately nothing happened
-
that only change the time on the console not your IP address

4 RepliesEdited by Hoops: 9/7/2014 1:10:54 AMOkay so my timer says 23:54 now, less than a day. So this means I will be playing at lunchtime on the 8th. Good time to be a gamer in New Zealand.

Anyone try this?? It's meant to trick psn and Microsoft servers, not bungie.
-
I doubt it would so anything at all.
-
1 ReplyI think i will try and change my timezone to Australia see if that works
-
But dont the server go up all in the same time ? I mean look at Online games... if a Patch come out at Day X at time XX its live everywhere in every Timezone... like the events I cant imagine that i in Germany can start to play the game and people in UK still cant because they are one hour away from the 9th Spetember...
-
5 RepliesWont really matter once the server is life you are a go.
-
1 ReplyNo. Waste of time. Bungie is not stupid.

Edited by MacAttackss: 9/6/2014 1:39:49 AMDon't see why not.... Did it on 360 when BF3 an BF4 DLC dropped. UK storefront always had it around 2-4am EST was way better then waiting till 6-7am EST for MS to update the US store. I also used the Japanese store front to download the free to play MMO an it generated a free 48 Xbox Live Code. But MS caught on quick an got rid of the code generator. Video below is what I was talking about, so I definitely see it as plausible, but just hope it doesn't tick Bungie off, they watch everything. http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Dk6lRVU8xfk But rumor is digital copies don't work till 12am PST so....

Changed mine on my X1.. We will see =/

Im pretty sure on PC you need a Virtual IP address (correct me if its called something else) to purchase games in other countries so I am pretty sure that changing your timezone will just change the clock on your console the servers will still recognise that you are in your country and your game will not activate until It is that time in your country. I am not an expert on this so if anyone knows e.g Deejay please explain this to everyone.

3 RepliesWas just about to post something about this. I live in Zealand and have as of right now 1 day 22 hours left on my count down to destiny, I know with all other games and DLC we have to wait until the pacific release which is almost a full day longer. Will New Zealand get to play Destiny first or will we have to wait?
-
Don't think it is risky. Microsoft don't ban people for playing games they have legitimately received early. It might not work but it doesn't hurt to try.
-
4 RepliesIt works everyone. Want proof? If you have the game downloaded already simply change your time zone quick. Your box will restart. Then look at your count down and poof you get the game well before 3est. It's really not that hard to do.

Edited by Twohothardware: 9/6/2014 1:03:07 AMIt probably won't be as simple as changing your region on the Xbox One if you've got it preloaded from the US store. You might be able to get it to work if you delete everything Destiny related after you pre-order and then change your region and see if you can't restart your download again so that it downloads the files from that regions store. If so then it will download a version of the game that unlocks with that regions time code.
-
2 RepliesI think they will release an update the allows us to play. So time doesn't matter in a way.
-
It wouldn't work because of your location, time zone wouldn't really matter, them you'd have a shitty connection. It's not that serious just wait.
-
Put it to you this way: If you had to move from where you are to a different country, you would have to change your time zone and where you live. Would that hurt anything on your xbox or ps? nope, It only changes the time and zone...Heard some UK guys say that's what they've done before to play US times... Of course some say, it has to go through the servers here, but I do believe they all have to go through the U.S. servers...Think I will try it...
-
9 RepliesDoesn't matter because soon as you get the game downloaded you can play it's been announced when it's Sept 9th anywhere you can play
-
Edited by Earthling112354: 9/5/2014 11:02:14 PMLOL, it is my understanding servers go up at the same time which if there is "early" access anywhere else in the world, it will be at exactly the same time where ever you are. A time machine cant even help you.
-
Its there for a reason...
-
4 RepliesDoesn't matter if you did. It only depends on when your regions servers update.
-
Just wait the extra couple hours god damn people.
-
2 RepliesYes it is very risky, you could open a portal that would have the potential to send us all back in time. Then we would have to go through the treacherous experience of waiting for the game. For the love of everyone don't change your time zone.
