Leave your mark here and remember that you made the universe if Destiny that much more amazing! Change the game with your vote! We want individual character names in Destiny! Please share and spread the movement! We will be heard!
Update!:
Here are some reasons that names are important. More reasons will be added as you bring them up:
1.Players will be able to name their 3 Guardians differently with Unique names that mean something to the player.
2.Names help build community by allowing player creativity and a deeper investment in their in-game Identities (much like in any MMO)
3.Names would allow players to Role Play which can introduce a deeper experience of immersion
4.Players that choose to RP carry themselves in a way that will contribute to the Universe of Destiny
5.People will be able to come up with easier methods of verbal conversation with one another via naming vs long strange gamer tag/PSN ID
6.Allowing features like this will blur the lines between PC and console and will allow for future game developers to make games in a more streamline way when it comes to features.
Reasons why Names would be good for Bungie/Activision:
1. Having a unique character name would create a deeper sense of Identity for players. This would keep players playing longer and more often in a social manner with their own communities such as clans or friends.
2.This simple level of personalization is one that many MMO gamers on PC are accustomed to and would perhaps promote the transition of PC gamers back to console.
3.A unique character identity would be far more valued by many players when carrying them forward into future Destiny games.
4.Player names would add Role play to Destiny, something revolutionary to FPS games. Bungie would be making history, again.
5.This would give players the freedom to choose and freedom is appreciated.
Some solutions. You are free to suggest more solutions:
1.Allow players to choose to display their character name or ID over their heads with a simple menu option. Viewing a players info section will reveal both their name and their Game system ID.
2.Allow personal names to be viewed by friends only while in Destiny, just Like real names on PS4.
3.Create an animated name tag that shifts from both gamertag/PSN ID to character name and have several view options for that.
4.Create an in-game friends list with categorization options where you can input nicknames for others in-game. This way if a player gives you their name you can "input" it into your own "contact device". Just like a phone lol

Sample menu options
You would always be able to see someone's gamertag if you so choose.

2 RepliesWhat a load of shit. None of those are valid reasons.

6 RepliesYou can't easily change your Gamertags or PSN. For Xbox you have to pay real money, and I don't think it's even possible to change your PSN ID. I'm fine with mine, but my brother loathes his PSN ID and wants a better name for Destiny. For those of you who say 'choose a better name the first time', yes, that would be ideal, but people make mistakes and people change. What may have seemed like a great idea might not in a few days, months, or years afterwards.

Dungeon Defenders had this feature and it was really nice.
-
2 RepliesIt would work the same way as something like Guild Wars, or more specifically Defiance. Each character would get its own name but it would also show the account name (such as mine being LG Crim) if you were to pull up their character info. This allows you to give your character a new name to be seen when running around and I quite enjoy having that. I was actually slightly disappointed when they didn't have naming available. But it was something I was able to get over fast enough. The only issues with naming chars is that people get mad when their names are taken and such, but they will get over it fast enough.

If anything they could implement it like ME3 did. You were able to see your characters name, but the name over your head was your gamertag. It would be a lot easier to implement this with a patch than changing the whole thing.

DO YOU HEAR US ALMIGHTY DEEJ?!?!

6 Repliesnobody told you to name your gamertag DickButt420Blazeit, now you have to live with it

1 ReplyBasically all those disagreeing are those who are satisfied with their names This who clicked "I agree" are the ones who picked a gamertag like "Buc is here to fuc1k" and now sincerely regret saving the universe with this name (who knows why; that name rocks)

1 ReplyI just want to name my guy Michael Scott.

I'm for any of these minor features that adds value to the overall experience as long as they detract from major updates or daily social content. I for one would be all for this. Specially since its one of those features that can be ignore if you have no interest.

3 RepliesI see how this would be nice, but it might be just too much of a hassle really, for the players who have to fumble with menus and find out the person's actual ID/GT to report them, impersonations, probably a few other things, mostly being the whole system Bungie would have to tack on for this to work. Personally, my PSN ID already comes from an RP origin, I'm quite happy with it as a name that will display above my character. I imagine most people that want names are probably unhappy with theirs' ... I can see how a name like NINJAMAN9923 would be a bit embarrassing to have above the name of a Titan or something. I agree it would make for an interesting environment, but it might just be a bit too much, in a few ways... Especially this soon.

1 ReplyLoved the idea mate. As long there's an option to opt in or out I'm on board.
-
3 RepliesNo, you're known by your gamertag/psn id already. Isn't that unique enough?

12 RepliesGamertag is more than efficient . stop bitching

2 RepliesBEGINNING TRANSMISSION: (Low melodious hum.) Prediction: Mass confusion and impersonation. ENDING TRANSMISSION:

2 RepliesThey have that in neverwinter its soo confusing

8 RepliesThey're confusing and a huge waste of time for Bungie.

4 RepliesI don't like my GT very much, so I would LOVE to choose a name for Destiny! Plus, I would have more options, because even with the ridiculous amount of people getting Destiny, there's a lot more people on Xbox Live, so you could pick a name you like more :D!
