You are misleading people. DMZ is not preferred due to security issues. many people have much slower download and upload speeds. They connect just fine with their non optimal speeds. Thank you for your post otherwise.

How is the PS4 on DMZ a security issue when it has a firewall and psn is a secure server?
-
I'm not worried about the PSN service or the PS4. DMZ can provide a pathway for other avenues to be attacked.
I'm not worried about the PSN service or the PS4.
Yet I specifically gave instructions to just put the PS4 on DMZ, not PC or anything else So not sure if youre confused or just bad troll

There are ways to enter a DMZ on any item on a network, then bounce back through the router into something else such as another P.C. On the network. The skills required to do such a maneuver are upper level and I do not claim such prowess however, I know it is possible. Routers were built with many back doors and ways for people in the know to get in. I just wanted to caution anyone who needs to hide certain thing to stay safe by being pre-cautious and not allowing someone DMZ access to any item on a network. On a whole, people should really hide their SSID anyways. I hope I have helped here instead of become antagonistic. I just want to assist the community and all who are in it!

Its true that anything is hackable but unless you are up against Aiden Pierce from watchdogs, putting a PS4 on DMZ is 99% safe. Even if it wasnt on DMZ, a hacker with the skills you mentioned would break into your router regardless, though I highly doubt anyone that talented would waste time on children playing Destiny, when theres multimilion corporations, banks, politicians, etc to steal from Thanks for trying to help

it's interesting to note, most of the people that i meet with connection issues (i.e. people who bitch about lag and such), on pc or console, to any games, usually they don't do dmz, ports, or anything else like that. also some other things, i generally keep my pc, and my ps3, in a very cold room, i only turn off my air conditioner, or any of my fans, if i'm not in my room, or if i am going to bed. doesn't help much i suppose. but i like my room cold anyways. also i don't allow my family to move where the router/modem is. i am the boss of the tech department here. and if i don't know what im doing for something, then i will contact one of the people i know who professionally work in computer related areas. although im usually self sufficient. Knowledge is power!
