I have been trying to find out if there are multiple server locations like East Coast and West Coast and to different countries. I never saw anything in the Beta of Destiny that hinted at different server locations. So simply are there any other server locations other than the main Bungie headquarters and if so where are they?

There are always various server locations in different data centers to support situation if one of them goes down but also to give you the closest connection possible to your current location. I am not sure in what states they have servers in the USA but my guess is Texas, Illinois, etc ... always a few west coast and a few east coast. For Europe, data centers are usually in UK, France, Netherlands, Austria, and Germany. I can give you an example of my current connection (and yes there are always various locations per session as some of them are used as login authorization servers only while other locations are for other purposes): 205.209.21.48 is in the United States 205.209.17.198 is in the United States 205.234.118.178 is in the United States 205.209.20.105 is in the United States 205.209.18.196 is in the United States 155.133.248.50 is in North Holland, Netherlands 162.254.196.34 is in London UK 185.25.182.67 is in Vienna Austria 146.66.155.52 is in Vienna Austria 162.254.197.37 is in Hesse Germany So, I am in Sweden and it gave me the closest location in Netherlands and Germany. You can easily check this by opening task manager while connected in-game and then pick performance > open resource monitor (link on the bottom of the opened manager screen) > network > and there you will see the list of all currently connected destiny 2 servers. Hope this helps anyone interested in this topic.

1 ReplyBungie hasn't explicitly mentioned anything about server locations, the number of servers, or anything even regarding them since the beta. And even then, most of it was just that they were testing them. I'm not sure that any major games, especially one with a worldwide reach like Destiny seems to have, can survive off of just one server. The latency problems alone would cripple the game for at least half the population and finding an open server room would be impossible. It is fairly safe to say that there will be at least two or three for every major land mass (i.e., North America, South America, Europe, East Asia, Australia, etc.). Beyond speculation, there is little to nothing to go off of without finding a Bungie employee in person and having them show you a map or an invoice or something.
