Please please please do not dumb it down or nerf the mode just to cater to people that want the game their way. Stick to your gut decision and keep things the way you made it! Don't add match-making. I understand and respect your decision on why you chose not to include it for this mode. You will have a wave of people complaining and talking about how they don't like it and since the people that dislike something usually voice their opinions the most developers tend to listen to them thinking they represent the masses. Too many games have been ruined by complainers, entitleist, and unskilled gamers voicing their opinions the loudest. I'm gear to say great job Bungie, keep doing what your doing. For every one person that says they hate it there's 10 more that loves it. In the words of Charlie Sheen you guys are WINNING!
Update: After reading Bungies recent weekly update I'm confident they will stick to their guns. They are very generous with allowing your progress to be saved up to 7 days to complete a raid. I am glad to hear the new information and Bungie is continuing to do a great job. I love that only the character i complete a encounter with will be locked out from getting more loot. I planned on having multiple characters anyway.
Update #2

for those that want to find randoms...

OP, I thought this was another whine about the lack of MM. +1 like..... Luke Smith has clearly pointed out the need to solve puzzles and each member will need to contribute. Have just one who is an ass will probably stall a Raid and waste a lot of time. So yeah... KEEP RAIDS FROM THE KINGDOM OF NERFDOM TWONKS BUNGIE. Peace, out.

Edited by OJ191: 8/29/2014 3:25:21 PMI agree don't nerf it... but I kinda understand the point of view of those wanting matchmaking. IMO they should leave difficulty as-is but allow matchmaking with multiple warnings before you go in - so you're all gonna have to try HARD to work as a team or you will fail, and among strangers that will be hard - but it's better than being unable to play it at all.

Make it like halo on legendary:)

I get why people don't want matchmaking for raids. All of your reasons are justified and correct. But just because it is there, doesn't mean you have to use it. There could be a system where you don't have to go into matchmaking for raids (if it existed). You can just gather your party of 6 and go into the raid like matchmaking doesn't exist. Having matchmaking will have no effect on you as long as Bungie doesn't change the raids to cater to unskilled players. How this mathcmaking system could work has several possibilties. The matchmaking for raids could be designed to only find people to play with, not to actually complete the raid. For example, in matchmaking, the raid would automatically end after you kill the first boss or maybe when the entire party dies. This would cut down the time it takes for these matchmade raids and give a taste of what the raid is like. At the end of that, you can then decide to party up with whoever is there and restart the raid with a party of 6 and try to actually complete the entire raid. Basically, the only way to actually complete a raid is with a party of 6. If you have a party of 6, you don't go through matchmaking at all and you can progress completely through the raid. If you don't have a party of 6, you can go into this raid matchmaking system that will match you with other players and give you a short taster of that raid. This would be the ideal method to find players if you are the first person to level 20+ out of your friends and want to do raids.

You should be able to find 5 people worth playing with while coming up through the fire team system. If not, we have a forum for that.

Agree 100%

^ this

So can someone clarify for me? Do you have to be in a fire team to do raids? Or can you at least attempt it solo?
-
I concur
-
I Agree.

Are you assuming that raids will be too hard for some? What if raids were too easy for the masses? And everyone was getting exotics/legendaries all over the place? I for one would like them to change raids and make them harder then, other than that I agree with this post, dont change things if people complain its too hard, just tell them to GET GOOD
-
It will all come down to numbers. If they hit their target numbers it will stay the same. If they don't, they will change it. Bungie are all about evolving with the community to create the best gaming experience possible. This I guarantee. Raids will be different 1 year from launch. That could mean matchmaking or difficulty adjustments. Whatever happens it will be for the betterment of the game and community.

I approve this message.

Edited by duoform: 8/29/2014 5:37:49 PMIf you think the said Raid in Destiny will be extremely hardcorish aka WoW raids or Dark Souls difficulty you can be disappointed already because it won't be. Nor they will cater to these people because Destiny is supposed to be a casual game with some hard aspects to it.

This just seems like another thread designed to jam a thumb in the eye of an unhappy and vocal group... Classy... #respect #youhavetogiveittogetit

I agree with this post. Bungie, as the game developer, you know what is need ed to make a game. After all, you made one of the most legendary game series of all time. As for the people who are complaining about the lack of match-making for raids, well, it's painfully obvious you have no clue what a raid is. You aren't able to just fight enemies with ease as you did in the missions prior to. It requires skill, commitment, communication, and most of all teamwork in all aspects. You wot get that with 5 other randoms with over 4 million players. Trust me... You'll need friends. Lastly, for those special few who think they are so much more badass at Destiny than they truthfully are, your a special kind of stupid. Yes, I am indeed talking about those people that want to do a raid by themselves... Hah! You played a strike mission in Destiny right? Did you solo that strike at all? Oh you actually did? Okay... Here's the thing about raids. They may be similar, but think of more enemies with a much higher level than that of yours, and a boss that is near that is damn near invincible. As the badass you are (please read with an overly obvious sarcastic voice) ,do you really think your capable of doing something that REQUIRES a six-man team will undoubtedly have issues with, by yourself?

Stick to your guns Bungie.
