Its foolish to believe that there will only be a total of 6 subclasses and 3 base classes in the entirety of the franchise for the next 10 years.
Bungie prolly realizes that that will get incredibly boring. Monotonous. Repetitive.
Please avail your worries now. What they are saying is that people need to stop complaining that the beta didnt have more content. Cause it had a -blam!- ton.

I don't disagree, I guess my point was just that their response should have been more like "Ask us again once you have mastered the TWO [sub]classes that you'll have access to in Destiny..." rather than 6...because there aren't 6 options for my Warlock or your Hunter or whatever. Now as you say, hopefully after we master those two subclasses and ask "Ok, what's next?" the answer will be provided in December with a new subclass in the expansion. Which will be delightful by me.
