I believe the connection between the wizards and warlocks is significant here. They have many of the same attributes and abilities. This is a direct correlation between other races. The hive might just be like a collective of races that have been, assimilated or indoctrinated into a hive mind. We have to look at the name, the Hive, it's very meaning is "set on to reside in close association". This, if connected to the darkness existing as an omnipotent force as it may has in the past collected these races and implemented them into a fighting force for a purpose. It's very clear that their lives are insignificant due to the lack of self preservation meaning a large fighting "drone" army and I believe that the connection to the hive is not just the fallen but us as humans as well. Perhaps the fallen were given the same guiding light as we once were. We see them as raiders and bandits but maybe they are like us, searching for the light which saved us from ourselves. The light that brought the golden age of prosperity and put us in a level of coexistence human kind has never known. Would we not fight to take it back? How long have they been away and has there quest to take back the light clouded their judgment or can we even begin to understand their comprehension? I look to the house of wolves for answers. One last thing, notice that the hive do not use any "darkness" yet the hive use Ogres and other strange magic to push forward. Ghost 59 posted earlier that
The hive are an ancient race that was created by crota.
Perhaps the moon itself hold significant history to the origins of the hive. It's interesting thought that the fallen use technology while the hive are the only race to use magic, other that us that is. That means there is another source out there, like the traveler. Something we haven't seen, one that has it's own agenda and driving force. I don't believe it's directly connected to the fallen, I believe the fallen have taken to their name, fallen from light and they want it back. and the hive look to deny them that. So what does it all mean? It means that the fallen could be in their eyes the same as us, guardians and we have taken the traveler into custody. They seek it's release. The hive look to capitalize on this advance and push deeper and closer to consuming the traveler. The hive themselves, are us and we are them, the fallen is in there ranks and even an ogre could be a cabal. Who knows...

 • The Darkness I assumed was who gifted them the magic since we know the hive r in contact with it. As for The Fallen I assumed they were a ex-allie that blames humanity for it's fall to the darknesss. Hence why they fight Hive & the guardians. I assumed The Cabal are the same or they simply thought helping the darkness was a better bet then helping The Guardians

 • The Cabal are conquers whose society is based on industry. The darkness is just a means to an end for them.

 • The hive have assimilated other races. They are not the flood 2.0, they are the Borg 2.0!
