Hand Cannons and Pulse Rifles got the slight buff I wanted. I'm not a fan of specialization as you defined it. Lack of bonuses lead to multiple viable builds and more variety.

Both extremely sensible, and probably common, opinions. What do you suggest as a solution to the supposed "lack of" difference between classes? Do you think all three classes should be easily used equally effectively by everyone, regardless of play style? I can see that my opinion is much different than most's already, so I'd like to discuss this. Sorry if I'm utterly wrong or something, but this doesn't seem any less good for me. @BlessedSeraph, I wasn't aware of the buff, so thanks for telling me. What kind of specialization are you a fan of? I don't think that lack of bonuses takes away how many builds there are, seeing as any character could still use any weapon, just not as well as another class. How well is up to whomever, as well as the method used to apply the bonus. I just feel like most people will stick to the three kinds weapons I said in the post, regardless of how good the other kinds are - unless of course they became overpowered. And I feel like most people will pick a weapon at level 20 and stick to it, or have few weapons to switch between, probably all in the same category. (Sorry about where I posted this, still a complete noob on these forums)

  • You're welcome, and you have some good points. I tend to enjoy close to mid-range combat, which involves most of the weapons besides Scout/Sniper Rifles. Giving weapon advantages to certain classes won't affect the same number of builds, but it limits the number of competitive builds. Regardless of what class I main, I'll probably run auto/handcannon, fusion/shotgun, LMG/rocket. I'd hate to have to adjust that because a similarly skilled/geared player has a substantial advantage over me.

  • Ah, PvP oriented. In PVP, it felt like it was Auto/Fusion/LMG the most, although I ran the setups like I had them above with my three characters (minus the pulse rifle, that thing was just bad, even when I bought this upgradable 62 or something damage dealing one, I just know it was the highest damage I'd seen in the beta after uprgaded) to get used to all the weapons. I still feel like optimally, each class should stick to it's ranges, with the Titan being close-mid, the Warlock being mid-close, and the Hunter being sort of all three, but mostly either close or far. There just isn't anything keeping it that way, you're as likely to get sniped by a Titan, as shotgunned by a Warlock, as Fusion-Rifled by a Hunter. It feels innately wrong to me, it's like the classes are half as pointless as the starting race. There isn't anything stopping you from running three characters, one of each class, and trying out the bonuses where they'd be applied best what you like there. The level cap was purportedly low on purpose. I do like the game as it is, but I feel like when I'm playing it there's going to be this incessant tick in the back of my mind.

This might be the most civil disagreement I've ever had on Bnet, and you make some excellent points. I think it just comes down to taste. You seem to want the entire build of your character to be a conscious and evolving decision. I'd rather create a character from whatever components I like best, without having to think about how those parts will affect eachother.

Entirely fair enough, I'd agree about this being the most civil disagreement on Bnet, considering it being my first thread ever posted on. I like debating people as opposed to arguing with them (more of a difference of connotation than definition), but some people obviously feel like arguing instead. You've definitely been quite civil, and I can definitely see where you're coming from. I feel like the vibe you're giving off is one that off is that you really just want to play, use whatever you get that looks best, and ultimately top people and monsters using almost purely skill (although most FPS situations rely a lot more on luck than most of us think). More of your traditional FPS type of play, whereas I'm opting for more traditional RPG elements. I can resonate with that, sometimes simpler is better. I just felt like Destiny needed to be pushed more towards RPGs like I've seen many people say it needs to be, and I hoped that would make it feel even more unique.
