Others on this post: http://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/65349153/0/0, have suggested Bungie add a option to pre-order Split Screen so that they can know upfront that there is demand and that they have an economic incentive to commission work on it. So what do you think, how much would you pay for Split Screen?

I'd pay for them to keep split screen out of destiny.

    • There shouldn't be split-screen because I would get mad at the person next to me and beat them senseless. I am serious, this game makes me really pissed. I think I need anger managment sometimes, then I laugh at myself for getting so mad.

Split screening is the worst thing that ever happened to video games, imo. Ask my past friends who had to deal with me watching their every move and frustrating the hell out of them. I dont care how big the tv is. Size makes it more bearable but its still sucks. A headache. Opposing tvs is the way to go

    • I would love split screen for crucible only. Allow either a duplicate (guest) character or one of your other characters to be chosen. But do not allow the 2nd player to generate marks, loot, or exp. If a friend with a destiny account plays they would need to login and use their character. PvE maps are too big for split screen.

    • Do you know hard it would be to implement split screen for a game like destiny? do you realise how crap the graphics would be? do you realise how money bungie would lose out on?

        • There shouldn't be split screen because you can create a duplicate character. Say you are a warlock, and your other character is a warlock. You can play a round of crucible or sit at a loot cave and double the chance of getting loot for your good warlock. It's OP.

          • Split screen is useless... Almost every game has it and is rarely used... id rather want bungie to work on something else like private matches instead of split screen ... just my two cents

          • I don't think many of you understand the technical aspects of a game like this. It's a persistent online world with seamless network activity happening in the background. Do think people want to suffer massive lag because you and your buddy are piggybacking on the same machine with the same network connection? Then what if your split screen buddy decides to go to a different area than you? Now you have two sets of network data being synched with twice the amount of people, some of which is being hosted locally on players consoles. It's not even something they could just plop in to the game after it has been painstakingly crafted for seamless online play. They would have to rework the entire networking aspect of the game. It's not as simple as many of you are assuming it will be. Halo had small self-contained environments that only needed to keep track of a handful of players. I'm sorry, but it's just not gonna happen people.

            • The game would need to be redesigned from the ground up. Bungie would make less money because let's face it, if your wife/brother can play your copy, they aren't going to buy their own. How do you explore together? How does the console render and support multiple zones without tethering players together? If you're constantly being ported back to the other player, how are you meant to explore at all? How does loot work? How does the guest character save? All of the above are questions the developers asked themselves when they came to the conclusion Destiny could not support it. The best you can hope for is split screen supported Crucible where the second player becomes a guest, but what gear do they have? What level? What abilities? Are they a clone of the host? What if the host is ridiculously well geared? Does that give a clone unfair advantages? It took me 5 minutes to come up with all these issues. Imagine how many a development team for a million dollar game would uncover and have to overcome before implementation. Personally, I'd rather they spent their valuable time developing expansions, fresh content and improving features such as better social chat and private game lobbies.

Why do so many people want split screen. I know you want it to play it with your brother or something but it would be a real bother some.

                    • Many of you already said it...All of you who are voting to not have split screen should get a friend and shut your mouths. If you don't like it, DONT USE IT! Its a win-win. People with no actual friends can go online and you don't see us voting to take away online multiplayer. And people who enjoy local co-op can use split screen. Neither will be affected by the other.. The next-gen game developers really need to look at how much money they are missing out on by forgetting about couch co-op. We fell in love with gaming for a reason and that's the biggest one. Halo wouldn't have been a fraction of the success it was if they didn't do split screen and we all know that's a cold hard fact. Its ridiculous that we even have to be asked how much more money we will give to you to add something that should never have been taken out. How about this..we wont buy the games at all unless they have split screen..Go back to what made you rich in the first place and stick to it.

                      • My wife and I love to play games together. Very few games these days offer split screen gameplay (FPS anyways). I want to buy a PS4 but we pretty much have to get another X1 or else we'd be buying another console that we have to share. Not to mention that we would have to buy a game TWICE in order to play together. We still play Halo, Borderlands, and CoD Zombies for this reason.

                        • I suppose I'd pay 5 dollars for it but I'd rather it be in an expansion pack with lots of other content. As it stands, games like Diablo 3 UE get way more play time on my PS4 because my wife and I can play at the same time. Yea, this game is very fun most of the time, imo but playing games with family and friends in the actual same room is just a far better experience than playing with strangers. Hell, until they add in the voip options, this game feels very single player to me regardless what mode, unless I'm in a party with friends. PVP might as well be with bots. Fun game, but Bungie either didn't have the time to implement it or they are changing...... forgetting what is actually fun and what the people who have always supported them like to do.

                          • I won't pay for split screen co-op, as I think it should be included in a big budget triple A game. With that said, if Bungie does bring split screen co-op to Destiny, I will buy the season pass. If they don't bring split screen co-op to the next Destiny installment, I will not buy it. Bungie folk, you can look over my current Destiny stats, and see my multiplayer vs solo playing ratio to see my preference. You can also look at my Halo stats ad see that I still play Halo from time to time, and when I do, it's local split screen co-op. #splitscreen #co-op #splitscreenco-op

Split screen is still relevant for families, roomates, and couples that games together and don't want to have 2 of the same system and 2 TVs to play a game together, because that is ridiculous. I support split screen and I would, grudgingly, pay to have it available. If you don't use split screen because you prefer to game with others that don't live under the same roof, I understand that it might seem archaic. But let me assure you, it is still relevant to many of us. If you don't like it, then don't use it.

                          • I don't see why so many people actively hate split screen. It's not like it being a feature will instantly make your screen smaller if you play alone, and it won't force you to play with anybody if you're anti-social. To the people who think a FPS RPG can't possibly be split screen because it would ruin the exploration or the experience, take a look at Borderlands. That game is splitscreen and a great FPS RPG. The only valid argument I've seen is how it would slow down the game online by trying to force two people online through one Xbox, but there could be an easy way around this like if you are playing split screen you have to play offline mode or something. The reason why Halo became so popular was because it had split screen. You could see how fun it was then call some friends over and then show them. If they liked it enough, then they would buy there own copy to show play with their other friends. One of the main reasons why I wanted to play this was for a coop experience, but if my friend has to pay for another xbox, the game, and live just to play with me because the creators were too lazy or too greedy to put it in, then I'm not going to support it.
