In all of the little videos we've seen both from and since Gamescom including the new launch trailer, it always seems like the Warlock (Sunsinger specifically) seems "weaker" than the Titan and Hunter.
You've got a lot of cool clips of Titans flying around like super man from 47284 feet in the air and using domes to block projectiles while Hunters are slashing and stabbing waves of enemies and then the Warlock just like, glows...
Maybe I've just missed the cool Warlock moments in these videos, but it really seems like Sunsinger is kind of underwhelming. Most of the decent Warlock moments come from the Voidwalker.
I totally get that it's a bit more supportive, and I actually like that. But from reading the tooltips I can't shake the feeling that the Sunsingers abilities won't be that great.
Obviously this is just my impression based on almost nothing, but I'm curious what you guys think.

1 ReplyI posted this in another thread, thought I'd put it here aswell. See I'm kind of worried about the effectivness of Radiance myself. So you can one shot a vehicle with your melee ABILITY, not the actual melee (we don't know yet but I doubt it). Okay, all other supers could do that though, and with the benefit of not having to be in melee range. Heck, Hunters Golden Gun can one shot a Pike from halfway across the map. We havn't seen how it buffs grenades yet but if Sunsinger grenades are similar to the Vortex grenades of the Voidwalker, they will already be powerful enough. You can have 2 of them anyway, how much more useful could they possibly get? Reducing cooldowns for teammates (if you choose that trait) sounds okay, but I don't know if it'll be worth giving up the potential to get several kills on a point or take out that interceptor that's giving your team trouble. Radiance is on a timer and once you use up your melee ability you are left with grenades and your normal guns. There's not a lot to do with it. Reviving could be neat, but if it counts as a death when you die the first time that will be annoying. I also feel that people will learn to stand back and watch a Warlocks corpse to make sure he doesn't rise from the dead. Once people learn to watch out for it, the surprise factor drops and the ability drops in usefulness. Compared to Titans you shall not pass bubble shield and Hunters knife wave of death thingy, the Sunsinger sounds kind of underwhelming imo. I hope I'm wrong because I really like the Warlock class, but that's just how I feel at the moment.

1 ReplyI thought it would have some team healing abilities but I guess not

10 RepliesWeaker? did you not see the sunsinger decimate a full health and shield pike with one melee? The reason they don't typically show the sunsinger is because its super is used to make all of its other abilities stronger. Its hard to show off its abilities as they don't appear much different to anyone but the one using them. Their super isn't nearly as flashy as creating an impenetrable shield, vaporizing enemies from afar, or slicing through all opposition with nothing but a knife. In truth, the sunsinger is extremely powerful, and is a force to be feared when in radiance. Its super, however, just appears too subtle to make interesting footage in trailers and such. Rest assured, we who will take on this role will be among the strongest forces to face on against the darkness.

Instructions to active sunsinger: Step 1: Sing a Miley cyrus song while the sun is up. Step 2: Realise that it didn't work and get stomped by Cabals.
-
Look again, it has a lot of unique abilities.. and can also use it's super ability while being downed.... I think the Sunsinger and The Defender have the least amount of information out there about them.... but dig a little deeper they both seem the most unique respectively inside the world
-
i read the first line and i thought of the video where a sunsinger one-shotted a guy on his pike AND the pike with 1 melee skill
-
It looks like the Sunsinger can be built to be a damage over time machine. Which will be pretty cool in pve. Especially if there is a piece of armour that allows for 2 grenades to be thrown back to back.
-
You can Rez yourself.. I think they'll be alright
-
That is because the warlock sucks. - Paid for by the Hunter / Titan against stupid warlocks and their stupid faces alliance -

Edited by Sephious: 8/22/2014 10:07:37 PMUsing radiance enhances abilities....meaning grenades and melee.....now the melee is icing on the cake but solar super powered grenades with gift of the sun and a massive redux in cooldowns = flaming grenade spam....I fail to see your fear...
-
It really depends on what type of player you are. The voidwalker is all about direct damage and some dot, while the suninger Is more on the support side with quite a bit of dot if spec'd right.

2 RepliesI saw a video of a warlock with sunsinger active, and when they used their melee ability, it took out a pike in one hit! I think it will be fine.
-
Well thats why Im staying a void walker
-
Not worried about a thing. Not speculating. Cause it's all not 100% yet. So -blam!- that :D
-
No at all! With radiance activated you one shot pikes with melee, and who knows how good the grenades will be with radiance activated!
-
-
I'm not with radiance you can one shot a pike with melee
-
Lol when that warlock "glows" he going super saiyan so gtfo or he will one shot punch you into oblivion. And they can revive themselves by using it.

2 RepliesWhat I'm sort of bummed about is that it was originally speculated to be a Fireteam buff and now (from the tool tip) seems only for yourself. I like to play the healer buffer with my friends, but now I'm not sure what to do. It seems I'll need to go Titan for that role but I want to be a Warlock. So I'm kinda confused about it. I'll need to wait till 9/9 to know for sure though.

3 RepliesYes but it's more of a support sub class
-
man im so worried about it. Sometimes i cant sleep because i wake up from night terrors screaming SUNSINGER IS GONNA GET ME!. Im very worried....
-
Hmmm...anyone wonder how much we can really reduce our cooldowns? Radiance reduces all ability cooldowns for you and your allies if you choose Song of Flame. You can further reduce cooldowns with Discipline and strength. You can further reduce cooldowns with Praise the Sun (exotic armor ability) How short can we really get cooldowns to be?
-
See, the more I look at it, the more I think Sunsinger is more individualistic. Defender is definitely the closest this game has to a support class, Hunters are either way more lone wolf characters (nothing wrong with that, raids do need the heavy hitting damage too), and striker/void walker seem to be the closest to AoE. I'm just feeling a Self Centered Sunsinger as the best Sunsinger.
-
3 RepliesIf the Sunsinger doesn't have a "flamethrower" ability like in this concept art, I'm going to be very disappointed.
-
2 RepliesI plan on going this route with a second character. My only questions are how long it lasts and if you have to have a full super bar before you die to be able to resurrect. Otherwise I'm not too worried about it compared to the others supers.
-
3 RepliesI'm still planning on playing the sunsinger for the following reasons -radiance can aid ally's to help during raids or you can revive yourself or you can tank through a lot of fire power -scorch is a fire melee that can ignite the target and brimstone is a crazy upgrade, being able to turn you're foes into frag grenades sounds bomb -two grenades on a warlock...nuff said -if you choose not to carry two grenades Viking funeral sounds crazy -and finally let's not forget that once we have really good gear and have the double dipping in action the sunsinger will be mad powerful. Like can you imagine radiance with the decreased damage and the revive ability or the two grenades with Viking funeral too! The sunsinger will be solid
