Is anyone else worried about CoD fanboys ruining Destiny?

I've always hated the Call of Duty community. It's full of Hackers, 7 year-old kids talking smack, and a lot of frustration. When I talked to them about their thoughts on Destiny, a lot said they would play it. Not to generalize the community as a whole, but I don't want my Destiny Crucible experience to be like a normal CoD BOII or Ghosts session. Anyone else feel the same?

  • I was trying to play some COD Ghosts Extinction mode last night. The first round I played with my brother but it had been a while. We were talking and playing decently. We set the nuke and ended up getting killed going back to the beginning of the map for extraction. My Brother had to leave, but it was a pretty good run and I was having fun, so I decided to play with a match made group. First, it took 10-15 minutes to get a game going because all the super prestige guys would keep backing out of the lobby if they didn't like the look of someone in the squad. When I finally got in a game the players I was matched with were the worst. One kid wouldn't stop singing and committing suicide on the electric fence traps. The others were paying zero attention to the challenges and running around like idiots. We didn't make it past the first part of the map. I played two more rounds and they went about the same. Both a little better, but overall it was a massive failure. Easy proof to me that one good person on your team is better than 3 randoms. The COD chumps will come in droves (along with a lot of stand up COD players) and we cant stop that. But we don't have to play with them. Hold yourself as a Guardian to a higher mark. Be good to other Guardians and make friends. Then play with them. Don't let Destiny get ruined for you by relying on matchmaking. So yep, I'm worried about the COD fans moving over to Destiny. But I'm not going to let that ruin it for me.

I'm 33 and a hardcore cod player and I think your ignorant, I'll be playing cod for the cod experience and game mechanics and I'll be playing destiny to erm well play destiny how bungie want us to play shooters, I'll be buying limited edition destiny and atlas pro edition of advanced warfare, I won't be ruining this game I'll be having fun and playing a great game just like you and then in November I'll be playing 3 great games destiny, cod, and bf4.

        • I can't wait for COD players to try it and say they don't like Destiny. They won't be able to cheat and hack and realize they have no skill. Don't get me wrong, I've enjoyed the COD series but can't play them for too long because I get mad at cheaters and corner campers. They're annual COD game will be out soon and we won't have to be around them.

          • Some interesting comments here. I think we're safe. Even the programmers commented that seasoned CoD vets will need to learn the mechanics of Destiny. If you played the Beta Crucible a good bit and learned the mechanics behind heavy ammo drops, class specific roles and powers, and other particular nuances, you'll have that leg up. This is almost a bit more like Warface or Battlefield in that regard. Really I think it comes down to FPS skill. Map knowledge will always play a huge part in your survival rate, weapon knowledge paired with proper play style and kitting I imagine goes in equally well. All that comes from practice. CoD players get to roll up their experience from most of the other versions they've played. This is all new. Not sure where I'm going with all of this. Long story short, I don't think CoD vets will some how corrupt the crucible experience... As a final thought, $60 is a chunk of money to dump in a new game for the sole purpose of the PvP. CoD players can do that for new CoD games. There's a decade of previous iterations out there. The formula from game to game is always very close. Destiny is FPS, but... Different. Who has that kind of money to spend on something they may not even enjoy?

          • Um, nope. Not worried in the slightest. If they want to play, good for them because it's an awesome game. If not, who the hell cares? The game makes it extremely difficult to pull CoD tactics in the crucible. Camping is usable, but you won't get far with it, nor do you have an excess of "noob tubes." I never got to play the beta, but based on the Alpha the tank was the only concern, so long as you're not on a cohesive team.

            • I'm worried about competitive MLG wannabe try hards ruining Destiny. It seems like they are the only ones that think that aren't happy with the games multiplayer. Oh wait... Those are the CoD fanboys. Nevermind.
I don't want my Destiny Crucible experience to be like a normal CoD BOII or Ghosts session. Anyone else feel the same?
First off it can't be. Destiny does not, will not, shall not, and cannot be the same exp. it doesn't posses the same game mechs as cod whatsoever. Furthermore, hacking isn't (I say this now but who knows!) gonna be possible. This game is online all the time and bungie has a direct link to everyone's acc at all times. This is how they can react with us and give us events, nightfall activities, and modify enemies thru seamless transitions throughout the game. They'll just ban you unlike cod where you literally have to expose them thru YouTube or twitch.
but to answer your question I AINT WORRIED BOUT NUN!! HANH!
• As a somewhat vet of call of duty I agree that the community is pretty annoying but I don't think that it will hurt destiny.
there is bad in all communities so we will see what happens since there will be more than just call of duty player playing it. There will be halo players and battlefield player (and maybe even some new to shooter people)
• Nope. Luckily, there is no prox/lobby chat, so we can actually concentrate on playing, rather than being bothered by all the annoying little foul mouthed twerps.

                • Nope. 1) We won't be able to hear each other let alone them. 2) If you've been playing Halo since at least Halo 2 then you know how bad hacking really was and saw how Bungie pretty much eliminated hacking in Halo 3 with the force of their mighty ban hammer. 3) Your stereotype of COD players being all 7 year old hackers only reflects your own low skill level and I hope I'm never on your team. Hacking in COD wasn't really that bad or even really hacking at all. It was just a loophole in CODs own shitty servers and latency issues. Halo 2 had real hacking in matchmaking. Like you spawn outside of the map with a guy shooting you with a fully automatic sniper that shoots three bullets in a triangle pattern with unlimited ammo and no reloading WITH aimbot getting auto head shots while you respawn instantly in the same spot. You'd die so fast you almost never even saw yourself spawn. Bungie got fed up with it and through amazing programming made almost all hacking and damn near most modding a thing of the past in Halo 3. Even in offline custom games hackers and modders couldn't really do anything spectacular with Halo 3 as they did in Halo 2.

                  • If it's the stereotypical CoD player you're worried about they won't try any other game. I tried to get my cousin to play the beta and he refused even though my other cousin, who plays professionally told him it was fun he refused to try it saying that CoD is the only good game. SO yeah the annoying ones will stay in CoD land. THANK GOD
