I've always hated the Call of Duty community. It's full of Hackers, 7 year-old kids talking smack, and a lot of frustration. When I talked to them about their thoughts on Destiny, a lot said they would play it. Not to generalize the community as a whole, but I don't want my Destiny Crucible experience to be like a normal CoD BOII or Ghosts session. Anyone else feel the same?

Game will be huge, there will be plenty of dicks from all sorts of games. I'll be sticking to PVE with a few mates so won't have to deal with any them :D!
-
It doesn't matter what game it is... They are always around...
-
If that happens, Santa is real.
-
Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahhaahahhahahaahahah

Theoretically, it shouldn't be an issue. I mean, aren't Bungie's matchmaking protocols famous for matching you to players of similar skill and interests? So as long as you can't chat with the enemy team in PvP, the squeals of 7 yr olds won't be an issue. And with no proximity chat, not in PvE either. And with no MM in Raids, you won't be seeing COD N008s anyway, if they're not your friends. So, I don't see it being a problem. If you stick to team chat in PvP, No problems.

Edited by Battlefielder: 8/21/2014 10:48:43 PMI am not buying Destiny, but I can see people finding ways to troll others not only in the Crucible but outside, like maybe teabagging in the Tower or Old Russia. Perhaps that is why you can't go prone in Bungie games. I know a lot of adults like you are looking for a mature, harmonized community, but the game has a Teen rating and it will be interesting to see what happens when you mix guns and puberty-aged boys who are told they are legendary. Good luck.

Well im sure all play cod. But its the "MLG" annoying trickshotters who take cod seriously that will ruin the game

Anyone who plays this will understand it's an entirely different experience. If someone attempts to play it as if it were CoD they will die, get frustrated, and leave. Bungie made sure of that.
-
I don't see how anyone could mess it up, of course there will be dick heads, campers, and all that jazz. However the game is still the shit and I will still shove my knife into their heads. That's how I feel.

Edited by Dastiny: 8/21/2014 10:34:24 PMThe cod community can do nothing to the game. One of the biggest factors in destiny will be who has the best aim. No drop shots, no grenade spamming.. Just strafing, aiming, and skill.
-
If it's not COD it would be something else. There will always be dicks on the Internet unfortunately.
-
No stopping it.

Only children make ignorant complaints generalizing people like this. You're the real problem here. smh.

Edited by SGN Khaos: 8/21/2014 10:47:52 PMim not too worried because the chat blocks out randoms and not all cod players will be douche bags but some most likely will
-
Edited by Chicago Wind: 8/21/2014 9:58:48 PMYou should be more specific. I buy and play cod every year Ghost wasn't all that great hardly played it but I also play many other games. I guess you can say I'm a cod player but I wouldn't ruin Destiny.

They've already made a mess of the forums...
-
We won't let them. Plus strike team only chat helps a lot

I don't play Call of Duty but I don't think you can just lump all of the players of a certain game into one category, there are plenty of people who play other games that are just horrible people, no game is free from them, it's just that players from CoD have acquired a certain reputation because the most vocal are always the ones heard. I'm sure there are plenty of Destiny players who haven't played CoD who are going to be just as horrible. It's like saying all Nintendo players are children when in actuality a lot of Nintendo players are adults because it is the franchise of their childhood.

Cod players have already taken the hunter community. I'm a hunter myself and it pains me to say this sad but undeniable truth.
-
No not at all lol. I'll just use my bf skillz
-
Fairly certain Destiny has already been ruined by all the children already haha. CoD is no concern of a Guardian, it is a mere annoyance.
-
The CoD community is full of computer users fascinated by the inner-workings of computer systems, and in particular security systems? I was under the impression most of them couldn't tell you what vi or emacs is for, much less anything about war dialers or algorithmically generated sequences. . .

I was trying to play some COD Ghosts Extinction mode last night. The first round I played with my brother but it had been a while. We were talking and playing decently. We set the nuke and ended up getting killed going back to the beginning of the map for extraction. My Brother had to leave, but it was a pretty good run and I was having fun, so I decided to play with a match made group. First, it took 10-15 minutes to get a game going because all the super prestige guys would keep backing out of the lobby if they didn't like the look of someone in the squad. When I finally got in a game the players I was matched with were the worst. One kid wouldn't stop singing and committing suicide on the electric fence traps. The others were paying zero attention to the challenges and running around like idiots. We didn't make it past the first part of the map. I played two more rounds and they went about the same. Both a little better, but overall it was a massive failure. Easy proof to me that one good person on your team is better than 3 randoms. The COD chumps will come in droves (along with a lot of stand up COD players) and we cant stop that. But we don't have to play with them. Hold yourself as a Guardian to a higher mark. Be good to other Guardians and make friends. Then play with them. Don't let Destiny get ruined for you by relying on matchmaking. So yep, I'm worried about the COD fans moving over to Destiny. But I'm not going to let that ruin it for me.
